Awful, the only good thing to be said is that it is close to MD Anderson. We asked to have an outlet fixed and were still waiting. There are so many code violations here I just cant wait to invite a fire marshal in. The lighting in the rooms is so bad you can barely find what youre looking for, (your own hand). Although the FTC just came down hard on Marriott (who runs this dump) they still jam the wifi so that you cant use your own devices to stream movies. Instead they gouge for their own paltry selection of movies with no channel selection worth mentioning . The decor and furniture is vintage 60s depressing (think billiard green w-t-w carpeting and purple couches. A miserly amount of crappy mismatched furniture which is falling apart. The kitchen if you can call it that, is even older. On the other hand, the 2 most egregious Houston tricks; wall to wall hospitals and no public transportation. This is the city to own a cab business in. Oh yes, and of course there is the, are you ready for this? 35% tax charge, all hotels charge unless you stay at least 30 days. Its enough to make a loan shark blush. But lets remember, folks these are Houston hotels that are servicing people & their care takers who are facing life threatening diseases. I heard one guest who has been coming to this place for 12 yrs. he was complaining, no one even hangs out in the large lobby lounge because they dont offer much TV there either, and its just depressing. So if you like marble columns and floors, in the lobby, door men who wont even help you with packages or groceries, shuttle drivers who hate their jobs and people who can not communicate with you in english. Boy have you found a home. Dont count on getting your mail or packages, and be sure to stop by the needless markup gift shop. Houston has arguably some of the best Hospitals around, On the other hand, for a large city it is one of the most barren homely cities Ive seen. You wonder what people do, well there is the Rodeo. In general Marriott is one of the worst hotels and they are proud of it.

Per reading the previous reviews, I must say that within the last month I was there for 4 days while going through my My MD Anderson, and I know that beyond a shadow of a doubt and even beyound hotel Zaza ... The ROTARY house my being able to be directly connected to the skywalk for the 4 days I was there was the best place for me and they were even under mild construction. I was unable to get up and eat at all and was brought a perfect bowl of french onion soup, they have a lab down in the lobby, everyday I was provided with my next days Agenda and/or changes... also my husbnad was able to keep up his work by working from his computer while being with me every step up the way. And when It got to where I was in a state where my immune system was compromised and was also dizzy ...I was within 2 minutes promptly provided with a wheelchair that my husband was able to get help bringing me back to our room at Rotary house. I was able to also pleased that if my husband who never leaves my side wanted to take a 5 minute walk he knew I was safe and he could breath... I will forever go back for any stay included this upcoming week. I know I have seen reviews that said this is overpriced hotel etc but I assure you anyone that has not seen it and has anyone dealing with this would easily pay to stay $10 more dollars in a hotel CONNECTED to Md Anderson where there is a lab service for the patients in the lobby, a restaurant for their spouses or loved ones who are with them and to know that IF the patient/me has to be admitted that day... my husband still has the option to be 3 minutes from me and can take a shower and a nap ... I know this from 1 friend who is now has reached beyond her 5 yr survivor point she recommended this place to us, as well as a dear lifelong friend whos spouse was a renound physician who passed and both of these ladies I am grateful for telling me about this place THAT is why I am passing it forward .. you will not be let down at least I was not..

For a place that is supposed to cater to patients and their families they sure doesnt seem to care much about their customer. We had 2 rooms booked one for over 2 weeks and another room booked for a week. one room we asked for wasnt available so we were forced to get one with a kitchen which obviously cost more than the regular room. With that being said weve spent a pretty penny staying at this place you would think when we asked if we could extend our stay a few days when our loved one is able to leave the hospital only to be told Im sorry were booked full now we can put you on the list. So your telling me after spending weeks and thousands of dollars at their establishment they dont have a single room in this place. They seemed not to care about the customer they know because they are connected to MD that they will always have business and that is a terrible way to run a hotel. What iritated me the most was that ALL of the amenities (other restaraunts, food court area) were closed my entire stay I understand through the holidays being closed a few days but they have been closed the entire time. The only restaurant available was the oaks which offered a limited choices (10 items) to select from on their overpriced menu. I watched a few guest get up and leave this place while waiting for their drinks/order to be taken due to the lack of service. When asking for a refill or napkin made me feel as if i were a hassle to them. For the amount we spent here we shouldve had much better service than what was given. this place should get people in there that make you feel welcomed and happy to be there especially after being in a gloomy hospital all day. Hope they can get their stuff together since they are always dealing with patients and their families. Just my honest opinion from my experience.

There were many things that I loved and only a few that I did not love here. This is ran by MD Anderson and is also part if Marriot. It was very clean and the cleanest hotel Ive ever stayed in. Most of the staff was very helpful. I enjoyed the fact that upon check-in, you do get your patient itinerary for the hospital. This is because everyone here is a patient at MD Anderson. They also have Lab Services at the patient relations area downstairs. You can also check out a DVD player as well as DVDs and patient relations. They will tell you more about what they can do for you while staying there also. They have things that go on each day and it varies on the day. They also have a spa and an indoor pool and jacuzzi there. The rooms were very spacious and had a very nice size refrigerator and microwave in the room. I did not like how far from the elevator and down and around the corner the room was. Another thing is that it is easy to get into the Rotary House but leaving you can only turn to the right. The food was also very pricey. This was not just room service but if youre ordering from a Apicius restaurant or if youre going to the market. Soup was bought in the convenience mart with crackers and it was $15 for two soups plus the one roll of crackers. Self parking is $8/day wich is good compared to $15/day for valet. There is also a shuttle to take you to surrounding areas or the hospital for free. One can alao use the skybridge and you never have to leave the bldg. It promotes a calmness all throughout the hotel.
