I had been here once before and couldnt remember why I disliked the place. The food jogged my memory. The Punjabi eggrolls were very greasy and didnt hold together well because the wrapper was too thin. There also wasnt anything Punjabi about them. I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was mediocre and the batter was soggy. The chips were some sort of interesting laboratory creation. They didnt taste like potatoes or maybe they were just sitting in the freezer for too long. My girlfriend ordered the chicken tikka masala. This was the same dish I ordered the previous time I came here. It was decent and theres not much more I could say about it than it could have possibly been a bit spicier. It came with naan, the frozen kind you find at your local Indian grocery store, and rice. At $22 dollars for a pub dish I highly DONT recommend this. Maybe on curry Wednesdays? Drinks at this place were made perfectly. A bit pricey but worth it for a good cocktail. Service was great and the server was very attentive.

Walked in today (Thursday) around 2 PM for late lunch. Bar was filled when we walked in. Only 2 seats open. 3 tables with ppl finishing lunch and drinks. Service in beginning was fine. Ordered 3 beers total ($6 a pint!), fish n chips ($12) and chicken tikka masala ($16) Food was average. While finishing up, only 1 couple was sitting in the back by fireplace. Many customers from bar had finished up and left. Our waitress, Jennifer, was towards the left of pub talking to a customer not checking on us or couple in back. Couple in back got frustrated and asked bartender to get her. She came to us and checked us out without apologizing. She didnt see the couple in back who actually called for her. I get they werent busy at 2:30-3:00 pm but she still had 2 tables to check on. Average food and bill was over $50. Left a $5 tip bc of the crap service at end. Lunches and beer are over priced and the service is crap. Wont be returning.

Yet another British pub in Houston that lives up to my mediocre expectations. The place has a cozy feel with neat light fixtures and comfortable booths, but having a basketball game on the TV and the rather random music selection kinda killed what had the potential to be a neat themed vibe. After looking at Yelp reviews I decided to go with the tandoori chicken quesadilla. Its pretty good, lots of flavor and quite filling. Its more like a heavy naan than a tortilla, and is an interesting blend of flavors. The service was a little slow (seem to be one server for everyone there) so getting my water refilled meant I had to flag her down and then I ended up with a glass of mostly ice and little water. Its also a little expensive for lunch (though the portion size is good). My bill ended up being almost $20. If you want something different, give this place a go, but dont expect to be wowed.

I really enjoyed my visits to the Red Lion Pub. Food was great and seemed fresh. Both times I met the owner and once sat at the bar with he and friend. They were welcoming and fun. The bartender was quiet and not very outgoing, but he was knowledgable and quick. Once I had the tuna salad and another the $5 burger special. Both were delicious. The restrooms were clean too. The only reason I give this 4 stars instead of 5 is because outside of the daily specials, everything is priced higher than really what it should be. I get that its authentic, but youre not getting exotic foods or things that you cant find somewhere else. In addition, service was good, but not great. Really quite average. Ill definitely be back because everything is delicious, but not a spot I can frequent at the prices for not being WOWed at the service.

Hi.... I love DDD and saw this place on there and was SO excited to try their Chicken Tikka Masala, well we never got that far as the place was PACKED at 830 in the evening. They way the place was portrayed was very misleading. IMO dont go there after 4PM and expect it to be a real sit down restaurant because it sure as hell isnt. Basically its really a BAR with a great chef ( never got to sample and food so I am going on faith here ) complete with loud drunks and all the lot.... Went to Bombay Brassiere and they were very accommodating not to mention the food was GREAT. It was a real chore to get to The Red Lion Pub ( construction and microscopic parking lot ) and find the place then to have this experience, very disappointing to say the least.

Thought I was in London when I stepped inside this venue as I have been to many a Red Lion in London. I attended a reunion of former British Airways colleagues and this was the perfect choice for the event. Usually, I peruse the menu of a restaurant before I go but ironically, the Red Lion was featured on Diner, Drive-ins and Dives earlier that afternoon so I already knew what I was going to order, either the Fish and Chips or the Chicken Tikka Masala. I ended up ordering the Fish and Chips which was good but not the greatest Ive had. The batter could have been slightly heartiier so it could withstand the amount of vinegar that I like to put on my Fish and Chips. The wait staff was awesome and my gin and tonics were right on point.

Great food, ok service. The waitress had to come back twice to recall our drink and food orders, but hey its July 4th and shes been here all day. Beer is a bit overpriced at $7 for standard beers, and the food wasnt cheap either considering a delicious, but small caprese salad is $15. Meals average at about $20 for standard plates up to $40 for specials. Salad, 2 meals, 2 beers and tip ran us up to about $90. Which, according to river oaks bitches (who are LOUD & OBNOXIOUS) is only 2 dollar signs when reviewed by rich people. The food was great, but it is definitely 3 $$$. An alternative, cheaper, british/Indian locale would be the Black Labrador... But then again... Theyre closed on the 4th.

16 of us got together for a going away party at Red Lion Pub. Our waitress was named Rachel. She did an amazing job keeping up with our drink orders and bringing some extremely tasty and rich food to our table. We had an arrangement of different food. Who started off with Kemah fries and wings, then we got pork shank, pastin seared scallops, shrimp and grits with whole lobster tail, fish and chips, chickan tikka marsalla, Irish BLT, and Guinness stew baked inside a Yorkshire pudding. Everything had an amazing flavor with just enough heat to kiss your tongue. But the thing that made the night is Red Lions bread pudding.

If you are wanting a great pub experience in Houston, with excellent food and a beer-whisky selection that matches the pubs in UK, go here. Curries are so good. Lamb keema my favorite although the classic chicken tikka masala, super spicy beef vindaloo are tasty delights. On curry night Wednesday they put on 7 curries. Huge portions given to you. Good place to sit at the bar and strike up a conversation. Lots of ex-pats go here for the beer. My only complaint is that the volume of music and intensity of air conditioning (too cold) get a bit annoying sometimes.
