came here for the Astros-Yankees Wild Card game. the game was on all of the TVs but no sound. now there werent a lot of people there but judging by the Astros apparel people were wearing (me included), it was obvious that mostly everyone sitting at the bar was there to watch the game... sometime during the middle of the game a couple guys who had just walked in sat next to me and asked the bartender if he could turn the sound on for the game. bartender said "No" and with that the guys immediately left. about 30 minutes later they turn the sound to the game on. pretty sure the the bartender was just being lazy because by then it was just obvious everybody was cheering for the Astros and nobody cared to hear any more of the radio top-hits playlist with the awkward 3 minutes of silence in between tracks. either way, i wouldnt recommend coming here if you want to watch a sports game.

When it comes to booze, its your standard full bar. If indecision strikes, theres a wheel you can spin for a random drink (and theres a free slot which makes it waaay more suspenseful). Also, they have specials every day lasting all day except Sunday (which is when they have free hot dogs). In terms of food, its not "cheap bar food" because the Den is a bar AND grill. Ive had pretty much everything on the menu and the sandwiches are a highlight for me; theyre big and loaded and the hoagie rolls are the perfect texture. I love the environment and the way the bartenders engage with you, it makes for an all around awesome time!

I used to frequent this place pretty often when they first opened up. I recalled the staff being pretty cool and the location was convenient, which is what some over the other older posts attest to. I tried going back recently, and on two separate occasions I have received service that was not only poor, but aggressively rude. I understand now why everyone I know advises against going here. I recommend going off campus or trying Pinks, which is just within walking distance of this place.

Nice little pub. Prices arent bad and the bartenders do a decent job keeping track of everyone, even when theres only one. I only wish there was more selection. However, they do sell 20 oz mugs that they only charge for a pint to fill, so thats cool. Trivia night is fun, but only on Wednesdays, when I rarely visit campus. One of my go-to lunch places and post-test places to relax.

This bar is a pleasant one with good service. Beer variety is Okay. Only downside I see is the music and atmosphere. If the music continually played rather than awkwardly pausing randomly for 2 minutes it would hold bar energy. The atmosphere is not very entertaining. They have a big screen they dont use?

If I could give negative stars I would, bar staff extremely unfriendly, I bought a beer in cash and after finishing most of it, went to buy another in cash, the bar tender accused me of stealing the first one and then stole my 20 dollar bill, I will never grace this Crap hole with my presence again.

Its not your fancy bar at midtown, but it is still awesome. I like to go on mondays when its dead and they have 2 dollar beers. It gets better during school semesters because it will fill up and who cant say no to a drink in between classes lol. I like the place.

Every selection is really limited -- a Houston bar without full line of Saint Arnolds? Whats up with that? Food is typical, nothing special. And the decor is about as warm as the holding cell at Harris County lock-up. Pass, get off campus, and find a real bar.

Their potato salad is fantastic. It is served alongside any of their sandwiches, but their "Jive Turkey" is one of the few reasons I go since I do not go to UH. Drink prices are alright and atmosphere is generally friendly.

Great atmosphere for dates, hangouts, and socialising. The alcohol is affordable and I always have a great time when Im here, which is perfect because Im a full time student. The owners are down to earth as well.
