Lunch in the energy corridor can oftentimes be a daunting task... filled with long wait times, poor service, crowded dining areas, and food that takes forever to get to your table. North China is the exception to the area. Thatll surely save me 45 minutes on my lunch break. Located right next to Salata, I was afraid that the place would be just as packed. On the contrary, our party of two was sat immediately, without being tight like sardines. The staff was incredibly kind and very prompt. They offer a free "snack"/appetizer buffet during lunch hours. The hash-like potatoes and cold noodles were d-e-licious. The food arrived and I couldnt believe how generous the lunch portions were! I ordered the San Dong Beef (sliced beef sauteed with garlic) and my coworker ordered the Hunan Chicken (spicy w/ vegetables). All lunch entrees come with rice and an eggroll. Both were under $10. Both were so hot and yummy. The menu itself is a little tough to understand, given that descriptions are either very vague or nonexistent. Just ask your server for recommendations. Theyre a lot more helpful than your average Chinese restaurant. If youre coming here to find the "best" Chinese food in Houston, or the most "authentic"... then just turn your tail feathers around and keep struttin it to China Town. For me, this is the best spot Ive found so far in the Energy Corridor for lunch. If you want good food, good value, good service, and something quick, then North China wont disappoint you.

This restaurant is very close to my office. My coworkers and I frequent this place a few times a month, sometimes even more than once a week. I find the food there to be very tasty, the prices are reasonable, and the service is usually good. Ive never left lunch disappointed. In addition to their menu items, they also have a little "snack bar"? Normally at chinese restaurants they bring out the little crisps (fried wonton) for you to snack on.. I always think of it as the Chinese equivalent to chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant. Except at this restaurant, you fetch your own and bring it back to the table. As I said, our group frequents this place quite often, and occasionally Ill not be so hungry. On those occasions, I usually just order and order of eggrolls (they are delicious, and come with a fantastic sauce). I will also get a few of the aforementioned "crisps" while waiting. Ive done this maybe 5-6 times over the past 20-25 visits. Today was one of those days and I was told that I had to order an entree to eat the crisps.. and if I didnt I would be charged $8.99 for the egg rolls ($2.99 menu item). I asked for the manager, and he agreed with the waiter, but told me this time was okay. I am usually with parties of 3 to 8 people.. in the future, if Im not feeling like a big meal, I will certainly make effort to influence my lunch party to go to another place. Attitude has cheapened my thoughts of this restaurant. Rating lowered from 4, to 3 stars.

Recommended by a friend, I was taken aback by the menu prices on our first visit. But after seeing and tasting the food, the prices are spot on. This is NOT typical soy-covered, MSG laden, cheap Chinese food. Everything appears to be freshly prepared by hand. My husband likes their Sweet & Sour Pork (no orange-color sauce...real hand made sauce) and their General Tsos chicken where the white meat is clearly hand-cut from whole breasts. I like the egg fu yung which is not on the menu but is very original and amazing. I did not like the way they put so much gravy on the first time I had it so I asked that it be served on the side and inquired about grain being added like flour. They explained how it was prepared and that corn starch was in the gravy. When they served it, they had left the corn starch out of the gravy for me! Most Chinese (and other restaurants) use pre-prepped sauces or canned sauces. Not here! The waitstaff is always attentive. And the decor is very nice...even it if it is funny that it is French posters and a few odd art pieces...nothing Asian. You simply must try this amazing food.

Just had lunch. Prices are reasonable (approx $9/person not including tip/tax), specially considering the quality of the food. Lunch is typical soup, eggroll, entree, but the food is very fresh and high quality. Restarant was packed with people. Started with Hot n Sour soup- anything but the usual. Instead of some colored broth and a couple chunks of tofu I could tell the soup was prepared from scratch using fresh ingredients. Nice thick soup with great spice. Had the recommended Beijing fish entree. Very good, peppered and fried but with light batter, sauteed onions. Rice was fresh and tasty (as opposed to being some monolithic mass of white paste that it is at most chinese food restaurants). Eggroll was again fresh and great flavor. Best part- when you go in there is a free mini-buffet with some small fried appetizers and noodles. Will be going back to this one often.

First visit this week with a hungry family of seven wanting Chinese. Just happened to find this place with a Google search close to my office. Slightly apprehensive on sight of the decor and wine racks on entering, and first view of the menu, but pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the final bill was at about $21 a head, especially since it included a few glasses of wine. The servers were very attentive, pleasant and amusing. The food was delicious and plentiful and we all agreed it was the best we have had in Texas since we arrived seven years ago. Sorry P F Chang! This was our first visit but I am pretty sure it wont be our last..

I am Korean and my family has been going to this restaurant (the original one before it moved and then we followed it to its new location) since it opened! Never have we had anything less than an exceptional meal and service! With its new location, it has been a little bit busier though. Good for them! The food is always fresh and their dishes are delicious! I recommend the sizzling rice soup over any other soup - as an appetizer. I dont know of any other restaurant that makes it. They also have the wonderful "black bean noodles" called jajangmyen - Korean style. A classic dish!

Based on top ratings I visited this restaurant. Looks like such high ratings are scam. Service was abysmally slow, food was greasy and tasteless, and there was smell of hard core Chinese restaurant. With approx. $30 dinner/person (including tip) , I had upset stomach late night attributing to too greasy food there. Dont be surprised if you get low quality food and service on your visit. To me all these ratings made me believe I was visiting P F Chang , but the experience was totally opposite

I got the General Tsaos chicken, it was very good. Not too spicy but still a little heat. My sisters got the beef and broccoli and the sesame chicken, they enjoyed their food as well. The complimentary fried wontons and sweet and sour sauce were a nice surprise, I just wish they were served warm. The egg drop soup was delicious but wasnt as thick as Ive had it in the past. Its at a convenient location right on the freeway. Overall, it was a great experience and I would go back.
