What could improve? My girlfriend and I came in to try this place at about 7:30 on a Monday night. The restaurant was relatively empty (some of the side booths filled but none of the main center tables). The music was melancholy and very low energy. Our server took my girlfriends order, didnt ask me what I would like, then I had to flag her down 5 min later to give her my order. The food was not great, not terrible. Warning: from a health and safety standpoint we noticed something that was was very concerning. The server brought me the wrong bowl of Raman. I took a sip and continued eating my appetizer and chatting (not knowing a mistake had been made). A few minutes later the server came back, took the bowl from in front of me, then directly brought it to a young teenager with his family sitting at a booth across from me, and gave me a different bowl (the correct order). I can understand making a mistake on the order but to take food (partially eaten) from in front of someone and give it to a fellow customer unknowingly is dangerous. I could have been sick (thankfully I wasnt) and doing this could have transferred an illness to a unknowing customer.

I will say, the unlimited sushi at this place is very satisfying. I was very pleased with their appetizer menu included in the all you can eat sushi. The pork belly is generally very good as well as the vegetable tempura. However, its not too difficult to make those items delicious. I give this place a 3 because my experience is inconsistent. Sometimes when I go, service is great and good is great. However, other times service is very very slow and the food is lacking. Once, we put in an order well beforehand and I saw that our food was ready for the servers to pick up, but 2 of them just stood around doing nothing. That annoyed me because of food was getting cold! Also, sometimes the food comes out inconsistently. I love chicken karagai and the first time I had it it was good. However I think they changed the recipe but the breading to chicken ratio was disproportionate. Also, sometimes you will order something and tell never come out- lost in the sea of orders. I will say the garlic ramen is YUMMY. I would definitely recommend that.

Update 12/31/2016: They now have a yakitori menu! Tried chicken with scallions and bacon wrapped tomatoes skewers and they were both grilled perfectly and delicious. Anyone can find something to eat here, whether its ramen, sushi, don, or yakitori! Update 9/25/2016: Both the vegetable ramen and the shouyu beef noodle soups (seasonal specialty) at this place blew my mind. Their clear broths are a nice change from the creamy pork or chicken broth of the signature ramens and especially great in the summer. Update 8/27/2016: I have been exploring other items on the menu except the delicious ramens and got surprised by their equally deliciousness. Dont be biased by "ramen" in the restaurants name. Theyre also great at cooking other items including gyu don, fried calamari (the best Ive ever had!), etc.. Best ramen in west Houston and great vibes! No MSG in ramen soup, so I can drink it without feeling thirsty afterwards. Have been coming here every week since its opening.

I usually dont expect too much from a Japanese restaurant that serves both sushi and Ramen, but I have to say Mikoto is fairly decent. I wouldnt rank it as one of the top Ramen or sushi places in Houston, but at the energy corridor there isnt much choice. The Ramen that I have tried is their Paitan and their miso. The Paitan is a meatier flavored pork broth Ramen, the flavor is different but not in a bad way. The miso Ramen was good at the beginning but when the noodles were gone I couldnt finish the soup - just didnt taste right. The noodles were a little softer than I prefer and the price was a little steeper than I would expect for a bowl of Ramen. I like that Mikoto is open for lunch and late dinners. The service is friendly and the decor is great. I have yet to try the sushi and the appetizers. Unfortunately I would be filing mikoto as a Ill-go-here-if-I-dont-want-to-drive-too-far-for-ramen places.

First I thought I walked into Jinya Ramen, but its just one of the copycat. The broth doesnt taste the same. The egg is cold. Therere few slices of gingers in the ramen?! Thats for Sushi not Ramen. I feel everything is pre-made and they just dump them into a bowl. We also ordered the BBQ squid. It looks the same, but taste mediocre. Its like not evenly drilled. The parts should be chewy, but its very soft. When they ask you whats for drink? dont get water. It taste very bad. Almost like the water from toilet sink. None of the servers has smile on their face. Its my first time and also the last time. If you dont believe me, try Jinya Ramen first then try here.

This is the only ramen along i10 near katy area. The restaurant is very nice but a little quiet on a Saturday night compare to even the Chilis right in front of it. I ramen is good but the ratio of noodle, ingredients and soup is a little out of portion with the size of the bowl. Dont get me wrong that the portion is actual very generous but I prefer a little more soup broth in the bowl since it took me a while to get to the noodle. The menu is very simple, but it will be nice if there is some bundle or special like Jinya so customer can try a little of everything. Overall i will give 3.5 star and hopefully with a little bit improvement in the future.

I pass this place multiple of times and never had the chance to actually go in. Today Ive had the pleasure of going in and having their spicy chicken with chicken broth. It was amazing the broth is filled with flavor and the protein was just great. The service was amazing kind, patient and knowledgeable Bout their products. The only reason I gave this a 4/5 is the menu to me is not that diverse. I was looking for a beef broth dish and I couldnt find it. When I saw one that was a seasonal special I was advised that the brother was a mixture of beef pork chicken and seafood. My only issue was not that much diversity in their menu.

This place is terrible!!!!! The service is the worst Ive ever experienced!!!!! Took over an hour and a half to get seated but 7 or 8 groups were seated before us. Took more than 45 min to get our food and appetizers after we ordered, even though at this point the restaurant had cleared out at this point. Forgot some of the our order once our food arrived. To make it worse once we paid a waiter came and tried to make my sister pay for a bill that wasnt even ours and was adamant that we didnt pay. Not sure how this place stays in business. Stay away if you are curious about trying a new place. Go somewhere else!!

I have been here multiple times, this is one of, if not, the only place that serves CHICKEN ramen. I am not a big fan of beef or pork ramen as it can be a little too oily/heavy for me. The chicken ramen here is exceptional and very tasty. I have had ramen at numerous places around Houston, even well rated places like Tiger Den, and Mikoto is better. Easy to get to location, enough room for parties, usually no wait times, and affordable. Good service, the restaurant is clean and beautiful, and they have a cool little rewards system that can net you free meals/apps.
