I used to be a regular customer here until today. Spent the morning volunteering for the Dallas branch of Habitat for Humanity in 95* heat and high humidity. Had to quit 4 hours into a 5 hour shift due to the heat making me light headed. Felt like I was good enough to eat lunch at my favorite ramen joint after I rested in the shade for a while and thought I could re-hydrate while I ate (In hindsight that was a dumb decision and I should have went straight home). After 2 glasses of water in a 45 min meal the waiter decides he is sick of my table and doesnt want to visit it anymore. He would visit tables next to me and refill drinks but never mine, and while we made eye contact several times he always quickly looked away and went back to ignoring me. I am always polite and thank the waiter each time they refill my drink or take away a dirty plate even though they are just doing their job and today was no different but for some reason I was the least welcome person in the whole restaurant. Made the 30 minute drive back safe although I did feel a little light headed towards the end. I always leave a 18% tip as courtesy to people working under minimum wage even though I dont like the way the American tipping system works, but I did not leave a tip today and do not plan on returning again to Tanoshii Ramen.

Finding plant-based meals in downtown Dallas was a bit of a challenge. A ramen restaurant is usually a good bet to have something I can eat. When I discovered Tanoshii Ramen wasnt far from my conference I thought I would give it a shot. I am really glad I did. I had steamed vegetable dumplings and the yaki-ramen with no chicken. It was one of the best Asian-influenced meals I have had. The dumplings were very good. The yaki-ramen was amazing. The yaki-ramen combined great taste and spice with perfect texture. It was a treat. The portion is not huge so be prepared to order a second helping. That is what I did so I would have something to eat at my hotel. I would have loved to order a couple extra servings. In addition to the great food, the service was excellent. I sat at the bar. My server was very friendly and helpful with obliging my requests (no chicken; steamed dumplings). If I return to Dallas Ill revisit Tanoshii Ramen and Cold Beer Company while in Deep Ellum. That will make for a great evening.

Im not exactly a ramen snob, but Ive had enough monkey king noodle (and have been to one chefs ramen event), so I feel a tiny bit qualified to comment on this restaurant. The ambiance is nice, and the staff is pretty nice. Prices are a bit expensive (11+ for a bowl of ramen). We went ahead and ordered the seaweed salad, which was certainly interesting but nothing out of this world. Then we got the ramen with chicken and dumplings - the broth was certainly above average, but that alone didnt compensate for the chicken or the shrimp or chicken dumplings having no flavor. Also tried some of the spicy oil on the table, which helped a bit. Also, being charged an extra 4 dollars for splitting is a bit annoying, since youre not adding any more food, just a plate. Havent tried the sushi yet, but I would like it better if they focused on the ramen a bit more since that is what the restaurant is named for, so Im not sure Ill be back.

When I go to a restaurant I expect to be greeted by the hostess with at least a smile. The only thing she said to us was, "Two?", then walked to our table ahead of us, put the menus down and walked away before we even got there. She didnt ask us how our day was going and didnt tell us to enjoy our meal. Upon leaving, she was on her cell phone. She didnt say, "Bye, have a nice day.", or anything. So, first and last impression wasnt good. I got the pork ramen. It was okay. It tasted burnt. My husband got the same thing and said it was good. The sweet potato fries were good. The shrimp and pork dumplings were good. And our waiter was nice. I definitely think it wasnt worth the money. It was a tad bit expensive. I wont be going there again. Were going to try Wabi Ramen next time.

Our experience was very mixed. Certain aspects of dinner were great - the sushi we ordered was excellent, and the broth, meat, and vegetables in the ramen were very tasty. However, the noodles were low quality, tasting and appearing to be from 30-cent top ramen packages. Our steamed buns and appetizers arrived a little cold, but were okay otherwise. Our particular waitress was not attentive, rude once when asked a question, and generally did not attend to our table as much as she could avoid us. We generally liked the location and most of the food, but the lackluster service of our waitress, sticky tables, and lukewarm appetizers really soured the experience. PS. Do not ask the waitress why the tables are sticky, you will get a very rude response.

This is much less of a Ramen house and more of an attempt at Japanese hipster/default. We went there hoping for a good selection of Ramen. We were disappointed. The food and service was good, so was the green tea. As per usual, the vegetarian options were an afterthought but, tasty despite. Id have preferred a kick ass bowl of broth, enoki, greens, noodles and +++++ but, we left full and not displeased. This gets a 1 visit review bc I dont plan on returning. We only went there bc we had parked only to find a 45m wait at the place we wanted to go. We took of walking... And were all "oooohhh, Ramen house! Score!" We were too hungry to go anywhere else after discovering the bait and switch.

Terrible interpretation of tonkotsu. The broth had no depth (not rich like properly cooked tonkotsu) and felt like dairy or soymilk was added. I did not finish broth. Noodles were worse. Tasted like packaged noodles. Certainly overcooked. If they are still making noodles in house (doubtful), they really need to choose right noodle for right broth. Saving grace was egg (perfect consistency) and char grilled chashu was good, although just a tad tough. Not a fan of the carrot or raw beansprout. Beautiful decor and atmosphere. Too many choices on the menu. Sushi fish in the display case looked terrible. Employees were not engaged with the guests. ラーメンを改善

I absolutely love this place!!! The food is so awesome here and all the waitstaff is very friendly. Whats so great is if you want a soup less Ramen you can always order a bowl of your choice broth on the side. I normally get two things, either the Spicy Garlic Shrimp with a bowl of the Seafood broth, or I get the Seafood Ramen. The shishito peppers are great as well. And I like the chicken yakatori as an appetizer. The drinks are good, theyre a bit pricey but if you want to splurge its a good splurge. Good tip: if you go during the day during lunch, try to find a meter, meter parking is free M-F until 6pm.
