One of the best burgers in town. So why 3 stars? Their order system is just completely bizarre. I dont know if they want to set themselves apart with some poorly thought out ordering system, but let me explain. You stand in line, which at times can be quite long, and then place your order at a single register. During that time, one of their hostesses will find out the number of people in your group and assign you to a table, if one exists. If no table exists, the line doesnt move. Once you place your order, you receive a number that you put on display at your table. I want to point out that you dont actually pay for your order at this time. They give you a cup for your drink and you help yourself to a drink at the drink fountain and grab condiments nearby. When you are at the table, a new person will introduce themselves as your server. Up until this point, youve already placed your order, gotten a drink, and had the opportunity to get condiments. So what exactly are they supposed to do? No clue. When your food is ready, your server will now bring out your food. Since your server didnt take your order, they have absolutely no idea who ordered what, so if youre in a large group, you have to stop whatever you are talking about while this person figures out who got what. Then comes the check, which leaves you with the question, should I tip? I am supposed to tip right? I had a server after all? But what did they actually do? I usually always leave at least a 10-20% tip at other restaurants, but this is the only restaurant that leaves me stumped as to should they even get one at all. How did they make my life easier? The entire process just doesnt make sense!!! Again, one of the best burgers in Houston. Just fix your stupid, idiotic, ill conceived, processes.

How anyone could rate this place higher than one star is absolutely mind blowing. Hopdoddy is the epitome of a poorly run restaurant and provides, and I mean this sincerely, the WORST customer experience Ive ever had at a burger joint. Do you wait in line? Of course you do. Do you wait in line because the food is good? Of course you dont. You wait in line because they have limited seating and they wont take your order until you have a table. Taken at face, this would make sense. Except you then have to wait for just as long as you would if you had just gone to a restaurant. So instead of taking your number and calling you when a table is available, or god forbid they give you a pager, they make you wait in a line with everyone until a table is available. One more time...you wait in a line to be seated. Well maybe they make you wait in line so that you can pay at the register? That way when they bring out your food you can just leave when youre done eating? Wrong again. You wait in a line for a table, you order, then you sit down, wait for 15 minutes as your burgers are prepared (because why would it make sense to take your order when youre actually in line), and then you have to wait on your waiter to bring you your check. You think Im crazy? Go. Please, go just to spite me, because I am so happy that the people who went to UT and think that theyre awesome because they lived in Austin for four years have convinced you this place is good.

My wife and I came here forAmy SIL birthday party and here is the play-by-play: 1- line was tremendously long albeit they provided water for those in line. ADV 2- they did sit us but the only option for any 10+ party was outside on picnic tables. NEG 3- they did make an exception and sat us first before taking our order. ADV 4- the original waiter (Wade) separated our orders on the front end. ADV 5- another waiter came out and told 2 of us that they "ran out" of chicken... How does a food establishment "run out" of food?? Chicken on top of that!! NEGATIVE NEGATIVE NEGATIVE 6- we were forced to order a secondary meal. Settled for a turkey burger. NEG 7- food cook time was 15-mins on a busy night, but this is the order we received our food: fries, DRINKS, burgers. In what world do fries come out before drinks?? NEG 8- food arrives. Parmesan truffle fries were decent, Turkey continental club was ok. ADV 9- unorganized waiter took longer than the food to assign food and bills to the right party. NEG Overall I think the food, portion size and price were decent. Tip to the restaurant- never run out of food!! If lines are long for everything, dont complicate the wait with terrible bill organization!! Sports/Entertainment comparison: Anyone on Shaqtin-a-fool or Ashton Kutcher

Just finished a Diablo burger dinner here at Hopdoddy where you park for free on the garages second level but dont park on 1st/ground level as all such spaces are reserved most of the time by permanent renters. Green lights above spaces indicate availability. Place order while standing in queue, but the unique positive at Hopdoddy is that while our party of five was waiting to place order a roaming Hopdoddy employee assigned and reserved a great window table for us so that we neednt worry about seating ourselves in the restaurant full of occupied tables. And sure enough our table was ready and clean by the moment we finished ordering. Food was delivered to table after ordering and sitting. Its odd that the cashier taking our order didnt ask how well or rare we wanted our burgers cooked yet we were all satisfied fully with the meal. The chocolate shake wasnt as rich as I had wanted it to taste. The food, candidly expressing, was okay, but the service was A+ and beyond. I didnt drink alcohol but others in our party did drink beer in ice cold glass containers representing something between a snifter and a goblet, I guess more similar to a goblet. This is a fun venue for groups having light-hearted or humorous conversation.

Visited this place on a Monday to have late lunch with my brother and his gf. The place was small and clean. It wasnt busy when we went there. I ordered the Ahi Tuna Burger, tasted good but didnt finish it. My brother ordered the Primetime burger and didnt like it. The Parmesan Truffle Fries were really good! Couldnt stop eating it and was sad when we finished it! Lol. The service was fine. We didnt really like the fact that we had to order on a register but had to pay after eating. Why? Because when we finished eating our food, somehow our waiter and the other serving staff went missing! We dont know where they went! We had to wait a few more minutes before we saw one staff passing by and asked him for our check. That staff that we flagged down was not even a waiter, he was one of the hosts outside the restaurant. Anyway, this restaurant makes their own burger buns! They have the machine inside their kitchen. They are also selling their burger buns for $2 if you liked them that much!

Theres some things I can and cant recommend. 1. While the fries look like theyre heavily seasoned, theyre not. By themselves, theyre actually quite plain although they are the perfect texture. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. 2. If ordering fries, I would get the queso, and again, Im vegetarian, so I can only recommend their green chili queso, which is made with poblano and actually very, very delicious. 3. Their milkshakes are amazing. Probably the best Ive had in Houston. 4. But again, Im a vegetarian, so I when ordered a burger, I chose the black bean and corn Patty. And although it was good, it wasnt great. It was one of those youre trying to be healthy patties, and Im not particularly the healthiest vegetarian, but I wanted a burger. Like typical fixings. And call me crazy, but anything resembling meat like their impossible burger grosses me out. Just my personal preferences. So to me, their burgers are meh. But again, I had the veggie version.
