The Kalesa Kitchen was bought by The Filipiniana Restaurant, so there have been some changes, such as if you need a large order of food, then you need to order it in advance. Anyway, my review is about the "bakery" part, since I havent tried their restaurant food here, yet. But, Ill assume that their restaurant food taste the same as with the original Filipiniana Restaurant in Bissonnet! They are probably delicious, too! Anyway, I was so excited for their Filipino bakery goodies here, but was really disappointed in the end. I ordered their Sansrival Macarons and Pandan Macarons, both flavors were lacking in taste, very small--smaller than your typical macarons, dry, and had hollow shells. These were the worst macarons that I had eaten in my life! I dont know if they were freshly made that morning but it seems they were not. I was really upset because I had high hopes on them. I also ordered the Ube Eclair and Pistachio Eclair. Both were not special in taste and gave a bad aftertaste in the mouth. They both got these icky and oily taste. The eclairs on our local donut place are even better than these! I was really disappointed. I really like that this place tried to incorporate the Filipino flavors on these known desserts, but the taste and quality are really lacking. I dont know if their glass case were not temperature controlled(?) resulting for the subpar taste of those desserts. I really dont know, but I hope that they can fix these issues. The only dessert that I enjoyed here was their Ice Scramble (Iskrambol)! It had the same taste of the ice scramble in the Philippines! Also, if you live much closer to their Bissonet store, then you can call in advance to order any of their cakes or sweets, so that you can just pick them up on their Bissonet location. No more hassle on driving to North Houston for their goodies! Staff were very friendly and welcoming, too!

Im not going to go into full detail about my awful experience with them because I dont feel that its ethical to seek revenge this way. All I will say is that Im so happy that they cancelled my wedding cake due to the fact that her partner cant communicate well with customers. I had to hound her to get an appointment, to get quotes to get status....etc. I ordered a cake in January and they cancelled a month and a half before my wedding saying they couldnt "accommodate" the size cake for my June wedding. How unprofessional. Anyway, I found a great place that has high reviews and will make my cake for way better pricing and bigger. I won! So.... thanks Debbie. You did me a favor.
