We sat at a table for two. There was barely room for our food because of the plethora of hot sauce bottles on the table. I probably should have seen this as a warning sign.We started our meal with fried calamari. There was way too much pepper in the batter, couldnt really taste the calamari however the texture was perfect. Nice crispy breading with tender calamari. I ordered the catfish poboy. It was loaded with raw onions, about 6 huge slices of onion and only one tiny slice of tomato and maybe two pickles. The bread was excellent. The catfish was kinda mealy and overall the poboy was not so great. Even eating the fries and hush puppies was a little rough with the awful smell of those onions wafting up. The fries were standard, the hush puppies were on the greasy side, like maybe the oil wasnt hot enough when they were dropped in. My wife got the grilled red snapper. The snapper was tasteless, dry and way over done. The grilled squash and zucchini tasted slightly of lighter fluid. The rice and beans were tasty, probably the best part of the meal. Before we left my wife went to the restroom. The bathroom floor was covered in water and when she flushed the toilet water came pouring out from the bottom of the toilet. They obviously knew that there was a problem as they had a rag behind the toilet, apparently to stem the tide. We wont be visiting again.

My husband and I went to the Flying Fish in Firewheel for lunch for the first time today. The food was very good......but..................We came in the side door and went to the bathroom before we ordered. I noticed water all over the floor. When I came out and we went up to the front, I noticed there was water on the floor and I almost slipped. We ordered and sat down waiting for our food, and another lady slipped and fell, catching herself and she reached the floor. I notified the staff about it and they wiped up a few puddles. This went on for about 30 minutes, as we had to call their attention to water STILL on the floor after 3 MORE people slipped. I kept telling them it had to be the rug that was wet. My husband finally pulled back the rug himself, and it was saturated. While the food was good, I dont think we will be going back again because they were CLUELESS and couldnt seem to get it or even ask if anyone was hurt!!!!!

Fish looked like they had flattened it before they fried it. Way overcooked. Fries tasted more like old grease than fries, and their new potatoes were overwhelmingly garlic-flavored. Hushpuppies were full of grease too. First experience here, and my last. Not even worth half the price we paid. Even tried to say the fish was overcooked and they wanted to argue with us instead, and when we asked for new, they said "well well redo it but it wont be cooked" like they were going to intentionally undercook it instead of just cook it to done, not overdone.

Ate there one time and it was one time to many! Greasy and tasted like they had not changed their grease in a while. I had fried shrimp and thats really hard to mess up. we were with another family and they didnt eat their food either. The kids didnt even easy their food! It was bad bad bad....if I could give it no stars I would and on top of it all it was expensive which made it worse. A even returned an entrees as it was so bad and replaced it with yet another bad entree. If you are starving......keep going. Its that bad!

Went in with an open mind. I was not impressed. My wife orderd fried jumbo shrimp. They were more like meduim shrimp. In Houston, when you order jumbo shrimp you get JUMBO shrimp. The catfish fillets were thin. Those fish must have been on a diet or something. Im used to thick catfish fillets. I did like the corn meal batter. My kids liked the fries. I personally would not come here to eat again. It just didnt seem like a good value for the money. Its just my opinion. Hope this helps with someones decision.

Ive been going to the FF for three years and while Ive never had a bad meal lately the product seems to have gone downhill. Yesterday I took a friend there for lunch and had the Gumbo and Grits. Within an hour I knew something was wrong. No gory details just understand that violent food poisoning is horrible. This morning Im still shaky but able to function. Im so mad at these folks since I missed our company Christmas party because of their lack of attention to what they serve.

Red Beans and Rice sucks - I love the Flying Fish and the food is great except for the red beans and rice! Someone needs to teach them how to make it properly! Kidney beans and Pinto beans poured over rice with a little onion garnish is a far cry from red beans and rice! Maybe a trip to NOLA for the chef if you even have a chef, would be a good idea!

Atmosphere was enjoyable, service was great! I was expecting more from this fish joint. I ordered the salmon and it was extreamly bland. My husband ordered the catfish and we came to the conclustion that the oil used to cook it was old wich made the fish taste almost burnt and it came out very dark. The comeback sauce was Awesome!

On first appearance, this place looks run down. Parking is in the grass and area around the building. Generally no place to sit other than tail-gating. Order at the window. I had the chopped beef sandwich and side of potato salad. Great prices for BBQ sandwich. Other items were average BBQ prices.

These idiots seasoned the crawfish after they cooked it like thats a good idea. They told me the crawfish was spicy. Like theres a magical way that spice can penetrate the shell. It was bland and pathetic and the heads were dry. How are the heads dry when you have to boil crawfish???

I stayed in a nearby hotel. The hotel front desk recommended this place and gave me a coupon for it. I went there by myself. The food was very good. I ordered a steak with cream spinach, both were tasty. I wouldnt mind to go there again the next time I am in town.

Catfish was excellent. Fried pickles are even better. Atmosphere is inviting and very laid back. Free refills on drinks. They have a ticket that they stamp 1x each visit even though the ticket says each meal...so that was a bit misleading in my opinion.
