This place is what it advertises, nothing more nothing less. If you are looking for a lunch counter to eat at in The Strand area of Galveston this is good place. If you are looking for a high end lunch place, this isnt it. The history behind this place is very interesting and in fact you can see a picture of the original owners on the stairs at the back of the building. During Hurricane Ike there was 6 feet of water in this building. We sat at the counter, my wife and son had the grilled cheese, I had a Reuben Sandwich w/ no bread and we both had shakes afterwards. The food was good, it was better than most of the stuff we saw as we were walking around. Wasnt as touristy feeling as the other places.

One of our favorite places to eat when we are on the island. They offer a brunch menu with plenty of choices. Breakfast and lunch menus are the same....plenty of choices without giving you so many you cant make up your mind. Its definitely a destination spot for both locals and tourists alike. On the weekend, be prepared for a wait because they do get busy. The atmosphere is awesome. Take a minute to chat to the customer next to you. You might be surprised at what you learn about the great city of Galveston!

Ordered the one egg breakfast (one egg, sausages, wheat toast and grits) and coffee. Ate my egg and sausage. Buttered my toast and got jelly on my shirt. Stepped into to bathroom to rinse the spot and when I came back my breakfast and coffee was gone and the ticket was sitting on the table. When I expressed my displeasure the manager said "Ill give you some grits". ?. The rest of my breakfast would have been nice, or half off since you took half of my food. Paid full price, tipped and left. Thanks.

This place made me feel a little like i had walked into a drugstore of the past. There were people of all ages enjoying meals at tables and seated around the horseshoe bar. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I showed up around 11:00 am on a Thursday and started with a delicious cup of coffee. After a second cup I ordered a bacon, avocado and turkey sandwich. It was delicious. I finished with piece of cake that was amazing but could have been split between two people. Great experience.

Great place for breakfast. Been there dozens of times and never had a bad meal. Its always great and made right there on the spot. Good service. Owner is a wonderful person. Staff is very easy going. Prices are not bad at all. Good coffee. But normally a wait for seating. But well worth the wait.

This place is all ways the best. My family and I come here every time we visit Galveston. We stay close to the beach and jump on our bikes and rid through down town, viewing the historical buildings to star drug store to have a great breakfast.

Love the old " soda fountain " feel that this place has. Our food and service have always been top notch. If you are looking for fast food this is not the place, but if you want a great meal in a relaxed atmosphere give them a try!

The food was yummy and the service was outstanding. The staff was prompt, attentive and accommodating. I felt like it was a great value - especially so close to The Strand. I will definitely be back ony next trip to the Island!

Very beautiful reaturant. Feels like your stepping back in time. We go here often when we visit Galveston from the city. Everything is simply divine. You cant go wrong with anything on their menu. Enjoy!

Fun for nostalgia. The place was fairly clean for being an old establishment, but the food was nothing special. Half of the staff was very friendly, but some of the younger workers seemed stressed out.

Great historic drug store with malts, sodas, patty melts and a killer omelette. Shop the walls while you find, try the potato salad, and dont forget to get a soda to go.

This is a really cute place to catch brunch in the morning. There are old soda foundations and lots of trinkets to buy. The food is good. It has a old-timey feel to it.

Customer service was amazing. Breakfast was great and it was good to get away from the big chain restaurants. Make this place part of your Galveston vacation.

Terrible service for mediocre food. Waited almost an hour for our food and when we got it it was cold. Not impressed by any means.

Delicious, well priced food. Can get very crowded and sometimes hard to get servers attention. Food was hot and came out quickly.

Classic diner style food. Good place to see some history. We were here for the 100th anniversary and it was pretty fun.

A tourist destination, not a drug store. Not many tourist items to buy. They have a lunch counter.

Cool little place for American food. Not at fast food pricing or speed but still worth it overall.

Tasty breakfast, but the service was slow and we were outside, so it felt like we were forgotten.
