Love this place! Ive lived in the area for 10+ years but never stopped by to try it out. I finally did and WOW! The fresh baked bread with just a hint of garlic was phenomenal. The spread that come with it does it justice. Real butter would not have been the same with this bread. Despite others saying otherwise. The side, mainly the tater salad and cole slaw are like homemade like grandma use to make. Now on to the main dishes. Ive tries the catfish and it was damn good with the spicy tarter sauce they serve it with. The brisket is marbled nicely and was tender and fell apart as you picked it up. The chopped BBQ, same as the brisket. The black pepper sausage was awesome. Not too peppery and had great flavor trying the St Louis ribs tonight. Ill let you know how they turn out. And the BBQ sauce.....i cant say enough about. Best Bbw sauce Ive had, not too sweet and not too spicy. Just right.

Its your typical take at trying to be a country style restaurant. The decor is pretty cliche and with your deer head and other things as such. It is a sit down, full service style restaurant serving other fare. I ordered the 3 meat with sliced beef, pork ribs, and chicken accompanied with corn, fried okra, and mashed potatoes. The brisket was bad, it had no proof of being smoked with wood, no ring, no flavor, no crust. It came sauced and slice way too thin (to cover up the dry texture.) It was so dry I declare it not edible. The ribs had potential, baring a nice sweet crust. They were simply overcooked, but as I said the flavor was there. The chicken also had a nice flavor, but was dry. The sides were actually really good, all made from scratch I assume.

Love the ribs. Update****After years of loving to eat here we sadly will go elsewhere. The food is still good but the service seriously lacks. Its consistently got worse. Most times we go its pretty empty with plenty of servers but for some reason they are SLOW. Its like they ignore you and spend more time playing around. Im sad because service here use to be top notch like the food. Now its as if the servers dont want to be bothered to do what they were hired for. Its not all of them but a select few we have repeatedly been stuck with. We never complained and still tipped so that might be part of the problem. Hopefully management reads this and fixes the emoloyee problem.

The food taste is pretty good although you dont get much and when 20% of your brisket is the burnt end its somewhat annoying. The reason I gave three stars is the service. Today was a busy day and I expect to wait for a table. That being said, when you have to wait an hour and you see 10 empty booths and a couple of tables on the way to the bathroom it makes you wonder. They didnt want to seat us in a booth because we had 8 people. Their booths are really large. So they squeeze two tables together which arent any larger than the booth only now two people get to eat at uneven table halves.

Music is Great. Ambiance is Very Good. Food is Good. The wine selection is TERRIBLE. Frankly, it prevents my family and I from enjoying this place more often. Sure, its a BBQ place. Still, they have just about every other drink under the sun here. It is a shame they cant stock a decent white. Im not even a wine snob. Just looking for a $7 bottle that they will sell for $20. PS I will change my review to 5 stars if and when they add a drinkable white wine. Been asking for at least 10 years now (I live close by).

Terrible, Terrible, Terrible!!!! Food was cold, sides were subpar and after being seated we werent waited on until waving someone down. Texans should be able to make flavorful, juicy, mouthwatering brisket!! Overcharged for an item we were told was on the happy hour menu and even after bringing it up our waitress, failed to change it. Only good thing about this place is the over buttered bread...the only hot piece of food we were served. Oh wait the bottled bbq sauce was warm.

I have never eaten at this restaurant. I am writing this in response to Firemax Barbeque. A smoke ring does not form because of the smoke. A smoke ring is formed by a chemical reaction in the meat and can be attained without the presence of smoke. The lack of a smoke ring can be caused by many factors besides the absence of smoke. If your going to review bbq joints pls know what your talking about. Anyone that doesnt believe me? Google it

Never been to the restaurant, but I just ordered food to be delivered via door dash and it was SO GOOD. I got the smoked turkey plate with coleslaw and sautéed veggies-came with way more turkey than I was anticipating, and included a *loaf* of really soft bread, and corn on the cob. The turkey was extremely tender with great flavor and the veggies still had some crunch instead of being steamed to mush like a lot of places. Yummm.

My wife and I had our rehearsal dinner here. We were blown away by the quality of service and the food. We had such a great time and excellent service! The manager and waitress were there to help us out in any way they could. The food is also VERY GOOD! We live about 4 hours away, but we cant wait to come back for some more. If you have an event and are looking for a venue, Shady Oaks will not disappoint. Thanks for everything!

Three stars at best. Im not sure why this place was rated so highly. My wife and I ate here and between the undercooked chicken wings, the very bland "smoked" turkey and brisket with hardly any smoke on them. The place is in a great location, nice atmosphere, and a good wait staff but the food was sub-par. Hopefully they had an off night because every meat item at Rudys was better than what we had here.

Get the Texas style ribs. Plenty for two people to eat. Great flavor. Really tender. Some say the ribs are over cooked,or they are not competition worthy ribs. I agree, too tender for competition. But,Im here to grub! Not disqualify for being fall of the bone tender. Sides are decent at best. For me,the ribs and black pepper sausage make up for lack of great sides IMO. Go,eat, enjoy!!!!

Fresh baked bread was good, but needed real butter instead of the "spread". Cheesey fries had a good cheddar. Ask for substitutes for the corn, it was tasteless. Brisket was weak beef/ smokey flavor. I had both spare & baby back ribs; baby back were more tender but lacked flavor. I like many flavors of BBQ sauce but this was a bit too much like ketchup. Service was great!

Enjoyed every bite and worth every penny! We stopped here on our way home from vacation and everything was amazing! The portions are very generous. We ordered the trash can sampler, which had jalepeno poppers and spicy onion rings. Delicious. Onion rings reminded us of outbacks blooming onion. The dinner was great too. The ribs were a little sweet but we left stuffed.
