lets just start off by saying that i was very disappointed i first called asked about their brisket sandwiches they guy blow them up he told me that they huge and that he waould even add extra brisket they turned out to be about the size of a double cheese burger from mickey Ds the bun was hard and the brisket was as tough as leather. i thought they made their own sausage as most real BBQ places do but i think this one was from HEB as well as the potatoe salad. people with positive post must be related or real close friends cause i cant beleive these post not after the experience that i just had i can honestly say i will not be getting my BBQ here. i must not have been at same rusty bucket but i was at the one in the 600 blk of cupples road. nothing like the guy discribed

A coworker and I had lunch for the first time at Rusty Bucket BBQ. He had a 2 meat plate and I had a sliced brisket sandwich. My sandwich had a small piece of sausage on top of the brisket inside the bun. The brisket is tender, with a nice amount of smoky taste to it. The brisket is enough to get me to return. Having said that, the sausage is about the best the two of us have ever had. The sausage was firm and did not seem to be at all greasy. Great taste and enough spice to please all and not enough to turn anyone away. My coworker said that the spicy sauce came on a bit more after a bite or two, while the regular was a good flavor. Personally, I let the smoke lead the flavor of my BBQ. Rusty Bucket will not disappoint.

I live in the West Side and love that this little BBQ place is so close to us. I have yet to get a bad piece of meat from them. The Brisket is tender (with bark - unlike what someone else posted), the Ribs have alway been moist , tasty, and meaty. My mother says the sausage is great and we love the Loaded Potatoes. The only reason I gave them 4.5 stars is because the Mac Salad is the only side I love (its really good, vinegar/mayo base but a little sweet), all the other sides are just okay. The prices are decent and the people there still have good customer service qualities...So I highly recommend giving them a try...Dont let the Neighborhood scare you...

I ordered a Lone Ranger without knowing what was on it. It was an apocalypse of tasty meat slapped between two pieces of bread! My table had some mysterious sauce in a squeeze tube. I went for it accidently splattering the dark brown juice all over my nicely dry-cleaned work shirt. At first I was upset at the thought of having to wear a BBQ-stained shirt for the rest of the day, but then I remembered the mountain of assorted meat that needed to be conquered. Seventy-three seconds later the Lone Ranger was gone, my stomach was full, and I left wearing those BBQ stains as a reminder of my time at the Rusty Bucket.

What happen to that Blue Plate? 1st visit was 2 yrs ago. My husband and I visited the Rusty Bucket a week ago. Major disappointment. The ribs were not cooked all the way through. The mac salad was overcooked. I ordered bbq chicken, did you notice no photos featuring the bbq chicken, it was skinless, boneless chicken thighs. Dry. Taste like HEBs. Cream corn was from a can. The bbq sauce was almost spoiled. The tea, was good. Sure hope the owner makes changes.

I finally ate here yesterday and was impressed with the taste of the Brisket, Sausage and Ribs. I brought my mom and my 5 year old daughter to join me for a late lunch. My mom was delighted with the tasty Ribs as I was also. We had Pinto beans, Potato salad, Cream corn and Mac n Cheese for our sides and they were all very delicious. I like the Rusty Bucket version of Bbq, it is worth the trip and worth the money.

Brisket was tuff and brisket had too much fat, more fat than meet. The macaroni and cheese needed salt to give it any kind of flavor. Ran out of chicken and sausage on Fathers Day unprepaired for the amount of traffic for the day Potato salad was the best part of the meal. That was perfect. Old Smokehouse on Huebner Rd is 20x better and still the best bbq place I have eaten at in all of San Antonio.

Used to go here once or twice a week. Loved the brisket, the green beans, and the generous portions. Well, i dont know if there was a change in management or something, but for three times in a row now, i have been served less than half the brisket i used to be served before, and mostly fat. Quite a shame cause i loved this place. Only giving it two stars for what it used to be.

Whoever said Rudys was better needs to have their head checked...or tastebuds reattached. Love the food here...and so does everyone that I take or recommend this place to. Accidentally found this place by my old place of employment, Boeing. The customer service has been great each of the 9 times I went. "A Google User" is probably just an ahole. I highly recommend this place.

Restaurant dining area very small, so if you dont mind sharing a table with strangers youll be just fine. Food overall was good but I wouldnt order the cream corn again. Brisket was very tender literally falling apart. Sausage was good but didnt taste any different from kielbasa that you can purchase from HEB. Bbq sauce was ok a bit runny and nothing to rave about.

Disappointing. The ribs are boiled and then put in the oven. The brisket had 1/2" layer of fat on it and was tough, and the spicy green beans had been sitting under the heat lamp for a very long time and tasted that way. Low quality food with a very expensive price tag. I dont recommend it. However, the staff were very friendly.

I was on Yelp and saw horrible reviews of this joint, needless to say I went with caution in mind. LOVED IT! I had the brisket, Mac n. Cheese and potato salad. Brisket was outstanding cut of lean meat and the sauce needs to be bottled for others to enjoy! Mac N cheese was AMAZING and the Potato salad was like me grandmas creamy!

Small BBQ place with excellent food. The staff offered excellent choices in food as we ordered and and asked questions. The only negative remark is that the Rust Bucket was low on or out of certain items which made food ordering/selection a little limited. Definitely worth visiting if you want some decent and flavorful BBQ.

Its a little hole in the wall but thats the only thing wrong with this place..I had ribs, brisket and sausage all were mouth watering and so tender. Voted best ribs in sa and I see why. The combo of the dry rub and I put the house sweet and spicy sauce on them omg so good. Highly recommend this place. Will be back soon.

Love the old antiques and how they have this place set up. BBQ was ok since it was not pit smoked BBQ. I come from the days when Stubbs BBQ had some the best BBQ in Lubbock, TX. There is really no comparison and of course when Mr. Stubbs past on so did the quality of Stubbs BBQ long faded away.
