We went last week after waiting almost a year to try the place again to see if it had improved. First off, the hostess had terrible social skills. She barely spoke to us, did not crack a smile once, and when I got out of her way behind a table for her to move a highchair she never said excuse me, thank you, or anything. Next, the food is barely average. The margaritas are not good - not real lime, a gross mix - I know because I work at a place that we sit and squeeze limes all day to make them the right way. We waited way too long to be waited on, we ended up having to flag someone down. I guess there system is for the wait staff to share tables because we got 2 separate people waiting on us and as a result they did not know what was going on with our food or drinks after we ordered, we had to remind them that we didnt have our stuff yet. Also, we ordered an appetizer that we never got even though we reminded them, and then it was on our ticket so we had to ask them to remove it. Its not fair for the staff to have this type of system because we didnt tip as well as usual due to one of the staff not providing good service. To top it off, no one was going to bring our ticket for us to pay, we waited and waited and finally had to flag them down to get it. We could have walked out and no one would have ever known. Im so surprised this place is busy, but we finally figured out that the majority of the customers have children and want to go to a place with a full bar where their kids have a place to play. The problem with that is you get seated outside by kids going nuts and the majority of the parents are not supervising them and a lot of them are sitting inside while their small children are outside getting ran over by bigger children! We couldnt relax because we were stressed out trying to make sure children would get hurt or run off! Never again!

My wife and I are both from Texas, but have lived in many cities around the country. We recently moved back to Texas, and we were very excited to be back in the home of good TexMex food. I really didnt do the right advance work for our first night out once we finally found a babysitter. We live in far south Austin, and unfortunately my lackluster research pointed me to Flores in Dripping Springs. It was perhaps the worst TexMex meal Id ever experienced. The refried beans were a pale grey color and tasteless (as were the other beans). The salsa was mediocre at best. My wife ordered flautas which came out as the most nasty, greasy mess you can imagine. I ordered fajitas which were ok, except the flour tortillas were overcooked and so tasted stale and/or burned. I also suspect we had a new server; he didnt seem to have much in the way of advice or recommendations and didnt really seem to care. As people have noted, the margaritas were ok. I have no bone to pick -- nothing particularly bad happened, just lackluster service and bad food. Im generally into giving the benefit of the doubt when its just one experience, but given the sheer number of items that werent prepared to any sort of standard, Ive got to chalk it up to a bad restaurant. I wont be back to this location or any other Flores location. Im really not sure how theyve managed to make it as a chain.

We have visited twice and each time we were severely disappointed. The first time we sat at the bar and ordered margaritas and nachos. The margaritas tasted like limeade and were too sweet. The nachos only had chips and sour cream, it was really disappointing. Against our better judgement we went back last night for dinner and was let down again. It wasnt busy (inside or outside), we asked to sit outside. The tables outside were filthy and the host sat us down and just moved the mess to a different table. Also, there was only two of us and we sat at an 8-top. There were serves walking back and forth but no one said they would be right with us. We sat there for 10 minutes without getting greeted by a server. This was very frustrating. I understand these things happen when it is busy, but it was not busy at all. We got up and walked out without ever having a server or host ask if there was anything wrong or why we were leaving. Hard to believe this is the level of service they offer and they could still be open.

They have messed up every order I have ever placed. I had stopped going for this very reason. Some one told me to give them another shot, and they still screwed it up. Then the young woman who was attempting to make it right told me I was wrong. That they had sent out the correct items. I guess by her logic I dont know the difference between a burrito and enchiladas. My entire family will not eat there for the same reason. If you are just going out for drinks the bar staff is excellent. They are always smiling and cheerful. They have made my drinks promptly and stiffly. Exactly the way I like. To sum it up. The service is lame(unless you are at the bar) the food is over priced, and the management is inept. If you are looking for a place to eat in Dripping Springs just keep driving. There is a Vallartas a little further down the road.

I know Mexican food. Im a Caucasian American, but I lived in Mexico for 3 years, in San Diego CA for 7 years, Los Angeles for 20 years... now in Texas for the past 7 years... and this is just the best, most authentic Mexican food Ive tasted here in Austin. Its not fancy, but its tasty and inventive and more than enough to satisfy that Mexican food craving. The salsa was very good. The corn tortillas were plump and flavorful. The only gripe I have is the sauce on tbe Camarones Calientes had the consistency of ketchup. It didnt taste like ketchup, but thats what it reminded me of. I think I would prefer more of a salsa or pico de gallo sauce on the shrimp. Overall, A +

I wish the food was better here. The first time we visited this restaurant I absolutely hated my food. We stopped by yesterday my daughter and I had breakfast and my husband and son had lunch which was all mediocre. My pancakes were burned but the rice and beans were pretty good.We travel to Dripping Springs quite often for baseball games so the team usually eats out together after our games. With that said I will say they are good at seating big groups, the staff is friendly and they have a playground for the kids.

The chicken dish I ordered was virtually tasteless. Reminiscence of unseasoned boiled chicken that is then smothered in onions, bell peppers, and monteryjack cheese. Rice was better than Mamacitas. The charro beans contained bitter bits of burned beans and dry crumbly bacon. I only speak English. The language barrier resulted in a long wait for our drink order. When delivered to our table, instead of ice water. Two of us got cups of steaming hot water. First and last visit to Flores!
