Myself and two of my friends came here to eat on a Saturday (6/21/14) night about 7pm. It was not crowded (that we could tell) and no wait to be seated. We order an appetizer and drinks. The appetizer arrived and we ordered our meals. We then proceeded to wait and wait and wait. The waitress walked by about 15 mins after ordering and said our food would be right out. We waited another 10-15 mins.. .meanwhile the waitress would not make eye contact. Finally we asked for a manager. As we are talked to the manager part of our food arrives. My friends food was luke warm.. cheese was not melted, and looks like it had been sitting or was put together too quickly. The manager offered a 20% discount. My friends meanwhile are ready to walk out... the manager convinces us to stay and she will make it right. They offer to re-make my friends food and will be comping the food 100%. I ordered combo Fajitas. I was given the beans and setup but no meat or tortillas (it will be right out). As she walked away here come Fajitas... oh.. they were not mine. UGH! 5 mins later.. the Fajitas arrive, Tortillas are barely warm and are dry (not very good tortillas). My friends food arrives and its better than the 1st time but still not fully cooked. Overall the food was below average for the metroplex. We were told there was a large party and that was the cause of the kitchen delay and thats fine. But, we didnt see the large party in the other dining room nor could we hear them. They could have handled that whole situation much better. But sending out sub-par food is a the fastest way for me to never return despite the attempt to make up for it by comping the bill. Sorry.. but I will never return.. there are too many other places to spend my time on sub-par service and food.

The place looks run down. Walking in it is dark and gloomy feeling. Even though there were some bright colors, the place felt depressing. Upon entering the sound of construction echoed throughout the walls of the entry. I went to the bathroom and the stalls were falling apart. I could barely see due to the lighting. The food was really below average. Plates looked as if no life was blessed into the food. It just seem plain Jane and just boring. Everything on the menu seemed to be completely doused with sauce. When we were served our food, it was as if the sauce fairy came and placed a water hose full of sauce. I tasted more sauce instead of combination of ingredients. On a positive note their margarita are decent and inexpensive . The staff was very nice. Our server was very attentive and patient with us. Even the hostesses were very polite. One issue I did have was how we had to wait almost ten minutes for a table when the dining area appeared empty. I will give this place one more try only as my belief that all places may have bad days. I do hope it is better next time.

If you are ever in need of a good food, music and a good time then you need to try La Milpa in Denton. This place is amazing and not just because of their specials or the fact that they have a 100 Margarita list. Seriously, this place has “Taco Tuesday,” “Fiesta Friday” and “Burrito Brunch.” We ended up finding out about them when we attended a wedding from our friends who go to the University of North Texas. They catered my friend’s wedding so well that we decided to try it out. It is a versatile place. We felt it was youthful while still being a family friendly environment. My wife is a huge fan of Chili;s and their Fajita Trio, but now she is a fan of the Milpa Parillada Fajita which not only gave a bigger serving size, but it was really good. We love authentic Mexican restaurants since the food tastes a lot better than the commercial restaurants that do not give that 100% authentic taste. You get a really great value for the money here and if you go on Friday, you get to listen to a live Mariachi band. All in all, La Milpa gets two thumbs up.

La Milpa is excellent! I recently had an incident with them where some hot beans got spilled onto me and burned my hand but all of that was ignored when I saw how incredible the manager reacted and our server. The sincerity from our server was beyond anything I was expecting. He kept apologizing and making me feel better about the situation. The manager gave my boyfriend and myself two 10 dollar coupons for our next couple of visits! Upon our next visit there I had asked that we be sat with the server who accidentally poured beans on me and he was AMAZING! The food is always fast there, the customer service is outstanding and the overall atmosphere is awesome. We have another server who we also ask for when going there and she does just a fantastic job every time. Thank you La Milpa for always doing a great job, your staff and food is rockin!

This place is a hidden treasure. Not where youd generally be looking for a place to eat, and yet so good. Prices are reasonable, the food is fantastic and comes with great portions. Service has been excellent each time Ive been, sometimes above and beyond what I expect (one guy saw my brother get a platter that mightve needed a knife to help cut, and without us even asking swoops in and drops it off. Theyre mind readers, it would seem). Only complaint is that the bathrooms seem to be breaking and they havent fixed them at all. Guys stall door is coming off the wall and the hand towel dispenser is just dangling from one screw. Dont get caught having to take a dump here - you wont get any privacy. Please, Milpa management, pay someone like fifty bucks to fix that mess and youre good as gold.

Our waitress was nice and accommodating and was the best part of our visit to La Milpa. The food is severely over priced and specials like "taco Tuesday" are discounted because they take away the cheese and the guacamole. Its not a special if youre taking away ingredients to compensate for the lowered price. The margaritas are overpriced and lack in alcohol. Wondering if Im at the same restaurant as all of these 5 star reviews.. Ive been here a few times and each time its disappointing. Sour cream is $1.50 for a dollup and the food quality isnt anywhere near the price they charge for it. I know authentic Mexican food and this place is not anywhere near authentic Mexican food. This review doesnt reflect the service, just the food and drinks. Do your research and go some place else!

Arrived and there was no disabled parking. Then there was a fifteen minutes wait for the staff to prepare the dining room. After we were seated, at a dirty table, we were brought salsa and chips, with two appetizer plates, one clean and one dirty. Thirty minutes later we were finally served. The food was wonderful! Very authentic Mexican food, prepared fresh, and still steaming. Service staff was good, not great, at refills and other needs. And the flies enjoyed their flight through the dining area. We have eaten here in the past and things were much better. The owners are trying to upgrade the facilities, and are showing great progress. Strongly suggest that the restaurant needs sound dampening. The noise level sounded like a train station at rush hour.
