I grew up in Corpus and love the food at this classic place,but the last few times have been very disappointing. Carpet super dirty, menus are dirty and torn, chairs ripped/torn. No love is shown to the actual space. It was so hot inside, my son started to have a meltdown and when I told the staff she asid it is set at 74 and she would turn it to 73!!!! Helloooooo, it is 99 degees outside. It was so dirty we could not even enjoy our margaritas. The staff, however, was phenomenal as always.

THE best Chicken Fried Steak and Battered Fries I have ever tasted in a long, long time. This is a very nice, local-feel, friendly place to hang out and have a good, old-fashioned tasty meal for a great price. The staff is amazing and service great -- everyone seems HAPPY to be working there, which is not always something one senses in a lot of places! For local eats, and great, fun atmosphere or for family or parties, this is a fantastic place to eat!

The Mexican food here was SO BAD! The "flautas" we ordered were those freezer taquitos-I could have bought a box of 50 of those for the price I paid for just 4! The "gorditas" were actually tostadas, with chicken that tasted like it had been in the crock pot for a few days, I almost threw up when I tried them. The service was friendly and the family seemed really nice, so I felt bad-I really wanted to like it.

On a Saturday afternoon I was headed to POETS and as I entered it was super full and the wait was like an hour, so I left. The next day I went again, but they said they closed early to get their carpets done IN THE MORNING. How this makes sense, I dont know. I havent even tried the food, but the service SUCKS! And thats bad enough for a one star rating. I doubt their food can make up for it.

Service is excellent, everyone is super nice. The waitresses always come by with extra water and check up on you, as well at the bus boys. They were extremely friendly. The food is really good and I love their burgers. The fries are amazing too! Definitely got to make a trip there if you havent already. I just moved here and Im glad I found a new favorite spot.

Awesome place. Great food. Great service! The staff was so nice and made sure my wife and I had everything we needed. A big plus for me is that they never let our cups be empty they always offered a refill when we were low. It was only my second time going there but Id definitely make it one of my go to places to eat

Horrible service. Waited over 1 hour for food. When it came, 3 in our party were served wrong plates of food. Poor wait staff. Mexican food was mediocre. All in all a waste of our time and money. My first and last time to visit POETS. Go somewhere that appreciates their customers.

Food was decent. Waitress was rude af. My 8oz chicken was 4oz at best. Then brought me a second one when I complained. Then when I paid she acted like she did me a favor. Lol. Told me "I went ahead and didnt charge you for the second breast" lol. Geeze thanks. Definitely wont be back.

Ive been eating here all my life and the Mexican food has been awesome all the years too. More pricey then normal mexi restaurants but you can always count on it being tasty.
