Waitress sarcastically insulted us, argued back about beer selection, and was downright beyond inappropriately disrespectful from the very beginning. Even though that didnt stop me from leaving a 15% tip to give her the benefit of the doubt of possibly having a more than average scale of a difficult busy Saturday night, she still never brightened the mood, attitude, held common decency, offered any descriptive information or help on selecting beers other than the basic initial rundown and when asked any questions she loudly rudely bluntly stated she had already explained that to us. Then after ordering the strongest beer available on tap, and finding out she in fact did not give us that, there was no apology or substitute without reordering what I initially ordered and paying full price. Then when my pizza came out late, over 15 minutes after ordering, and with only 2 of the 3 ingredients that I ordered, she stated that she was sorry there were a lot of pizzas ahead of us and thats what took so long, then took my pizza, already cooked and with 2 toppings, to the back kitchen to add the bacon I had originally ordered, run it back through the oven, and deliver the same pizza back to me for the 2nd time, burnt, with cold bacon sprinkled on top. I have never in my life been to any food and beverage establishment where I felt so demeaned for simply inquiring about products they provide or how the process works as I was obviously a first time visiting customer. Check my background, I do not leave many reviews, and seldom to never negative ones. This establishment could have been a top choice recommendation and has the potential to provide a great atmosphere for locals, but due to the service, or clear lack thereof, was an akward experience for my first time visit to say the least. It looked like many of the other servers were on top of their tables, checking in on them in a timely manner, polite & helpful, but for whatever reason we did not receive such an experience. I hope in the future they do a better job of hiring employees without such a negative attitude or quickness to have such a chip on their shoulder as rude service is not a successful business model obviously going forward. Nobody should ever have to pay for what my family experienced here tonight.

Pros: 1. The beer selection is the primary selling point - 102 taps, plus another hundred or so bottles. 2. A decent patio area thats largely enclosed (thus air conditioned) but can be opened for fair weather, also theres a separate patio for smokers. 3. The staffs beer knowledge is above average for anywhere short of a brewpub or brewery. Cons: 1. The food is trying to be more than just pub grub, but not trying very hard: mainly sandwiches, pizza, cheese plates, fried appetizers, a couple of salads, and some cheese plates. pro or con (depending on your preferences): 1. Theres almost no liquor of any sort, so only beer cocktails. There are a few wines for those looking for an alternate beverage 2. Gets VERY crowded during your standard busy hours for bars. 3. Noise: for various reasons, this location is louder, per capita, than Id expect. 4. Limited bar games: there are two or three dart boards squirreled away in their own nook - no pool tables, video games, etc 5. There are 2 TVs in the bar/dining area and 2 on the patio: usually without sound. For particularly special sporting events theyll occasionally bring in a projector - if you really care about watching sports, theres a Champs across the highway. 6. The degree of pro or con (depending on your inclination) on this last matter is mitigated by one qualification: the (all woman) wait staff wears very short skirts. The qualification? The skirts are treated as pro forma by the majority of both the staff and the clientele. The general understanding is that customers are here for the beer - if you want suburbanite-safe voyeurism, theres a hooters across the highway. Qualification to the qualification: there are customers and staff whose attitudes towards a sexualized bar experience are outliers. Other notes: Parking can be mildly challenging, by local standards, during peak hours. This basically means youll probably have to walk across a very small feeder street to get to your car; but youll have no problem finding lot space, given that caveat. Certain happy hour evenings are busier than youd expect: Wednesdays (buy the beer special, keep the brewery glass), Mondays (most drafts are $3), and (sometimes) Thursdays (they tap rare kegs on Thursdays).

Came here for a trivia night. The bar staff was great, beer exceptional, and food was decent, but the guy who ran trivia dropped me from 5 stars to 2 stars. He had at least 3 other people helping him score trivia, yet 40 questions took 3 and a half hours, mostly because he had to add his own commentary after every question and monologue between each round. In my opinion, he was just excited he had a microphone and got to make a whole bar listen while he insulted various patrons participating in trivia. I understand engaging with your audience, but theres another way to do it besides cursing at them, making childish dick jokes, and calling them nerds (obviously we are. Were playing trivia, and were pissed youre making us stay at the bar late when we have geeky jobs to go to in the morning that allow us to tip the bar staff a decent amount for putting up with your douchebaggary for over three hours). Bottom line: bar staff, food, and beer selection were excellent. 4.5-5 stars. Id have sampled every beer on the menu if I could and the wait staff was patient yet efficient. Trivia host: 0-1 star. Drink less or go home -- no one wants to hear you for almost 4 hours. If you want to do poor stand-up comedy, Im sure there are plenty of other bars for that. He has turned me away from playing trivia at this Dallas bar.

They do have lots & lots of beer. My advice to you: eat before you go, order drinks from the bartender, and pay as you go with cash. Their management has many "kinks" to work out, especially their customer service skills. The waitresses are rude, and not very compentent. They refuse to keep individual tabs for people in large groups, and expect you to know exactly which items you ordered at the end of the night. On our first visit, our waitress touted how good she was at her job and refused to give us seperate tabs. Well, 4 hours later, she undercharged some of the members of our group, and then expected the others to pay for her mistake. The next night was "Glass Night" and they ran out of glasses within the first 20 minutes. Poor planning, indeed. They completely forgot to put in some of our groups food order, and made no appologies for it when brought to their attention. They were the lucky ones, because their food is truely bar food.

Last night was the first time I had been to the Flying Saucer in quite a while. The place was packed, and my party of five didnt even have a place to sit. I wasnt too bothered by the crowd, although I was surprised that people were smoking inside the building. I thought they had outlawed smoking in ALL Dallas establishments earlier this year. The most disappointing part of my experience, though, was that the beer tasted very watered down. I had two different beers--a hefeweisen and a Woodchuck Amber---and both tasted like a cup of water had been dumped into my glass. It was the kind of watery taste like when all the ice melts in your Coke. Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that it was happy hour and the beers were on special. I suppose if I had been drunk, I might not have noticed as much. Anyone else have this experience?
