I used to love this place years ago but now the staff is a major issue. The quality of products is great; most everything is local and fresh, they make their own burger sauces, ranch, sesame seed dressing, chili, gravy, crushed caramel for the frenchie, but they lack consistent service. Some tricks of the trade: If you want a specialty burger for cheap, order the original CHB with truffle sauce on the side, then order the special sauces on the side (blue cheese, buffalo sauce, etc). If youre getting the chicken fried chicken burger, get it with a side of ranch instead of gravy, their gravy has NO flavor (literally..youd be better off getting gravy at churchs chicken). If you want them to get your order right, tell them youre allergic to whatever you dont want (onions, tomato, etc). The Frenchie shake is NOT made with "scalded cream", but pasteurized egg yolk. Order all shakes to-go with no whip, theyre a few ounces bigger. The vanilla shake varies in taste depending on whos making it because its just ice cream with vanilla extract and some staff pours it on! If you want a chicken option for a kids meal, ask them to cook a chicken patty and cut it into strips. If you want a kids meal for yourself, order it to go (they wont know its for you). If youre looking for gluten free, check with the manager but I dont think their buns are gluten free.. Ive seen people ask staff and then just order a bun-less burger. If anything is not what you expected, COMPLAIN. Last time I went, I ordered the chicken fried chicken with truffle fries, chili cheese fries, and two sides of ranch. It was a weekday night with few people and it took over 20 minutes to get my chili cheese fries! Then about 10 more minutes for my burger and truffle fries. The staff had my burger and fries sitting at the window for a good 5 minutes, while they were chatting it up with a customer who was on his way out! My fries were cold and gross. I quickly complained and it took them another 10 minutes to get me my new fries. By the time my fresh fries came, I wad basically done with my burger, and she forgot my ranch. Also they need to bring back the JERK CHICKEN BURGER! It was hands down the best chicken burger Ive ever had!

Below is a copy of the review I sent to Chop House Burger, which will suffice for this review on Google: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I recently tried out your establishment and have to say I was very disappointed with the experience. The assistant manager and register staff were borderline hostile when taking my order and when I went back to address some issues with your food. The chili cheese fries in particular are so poorly made I was compelled to return it. Your choice of using garden fresh jalapenos instead of the proper pickled jalapenos is inexcusable. The container was improper, as it was too deep. A banana boat shaped tray is ideal. The red onion instead of the proper white was wrong. The onion was diced to the wrong size -- 2mm vs the correct 4-6mm cube. The choice of using cilantro is also wrong; chili cheese fries should be sprinkled with a few chives at most. On the positive, the buffalo burger was great with a good balance of flavors. However, the texas tea that you charge 3.50 for can be bought at a store for less than half. The asst. manager begrudgingly took back the chili cheese fries. Due to the dour way your staff treats its customers and the lack of jalapenos (yes, seriously), I will not be back nor will I recommend the place to my coworkers. For an example of how to correctly make chili cheese fries, please visit your nearest burger island. You do not even carry 1000 island for bacon burgers (nor do you even feature a bacon burger on the menu).

To the clearly depressed and lonely man who spent 30 sentences to essentially say "I am giving this place 2 stars because the jalapenos in the chili were pickled, the container sucked, and the onions were 2mm cubes instead of 4-6." Oh you did mention that the burger was good, but the tea was too expensive, right? I can tell you this - one doesnt have to think too hard about the kind of attitude and difficulty you probably approached the counter with after such heinous crimes (sarcasm). If someone like that was speaking in a condescending and demanding tone about some chili on top of their fries, I would tell you where to go too. Rather than spend all that huff on complaining about the chili, why not just ask for your money back? People like you look for confrontation and then come to places like this to try to ruin it for other people. Considering this is a burger joint, I think your review is a tad much. The burger is why people come here, not the fries...you even admit yourself the burger was good. 2 stars for under-cut onion, pickled jalapenos, the wrong container, and some kids who thought you were being ridiculous which you probably were. Good stuff?

Came back here yesterday to give this place another go. This time I tried the Wine Country Burger, which was a bit more expensive at $8, as well as a the "Frenchie" shake to pass the time. It was a weekday afternoon, and there was a brief line, but the wait wasnt too bad. This time the burger came in under 15 minutes, which leads me to believe the last time was a bit of a fluke, so thats good. And the shake came quickly after we sat down, probably within 5 minutes, so that was nice. However, this time my burger kind of came medium-well / well done, even though I asked for medium rare, which was unfortunate. The toppings were fresh though so the burger was still pretty tasty. Meanwhile, the shake sounded like it would be a lot sweeter. I believe it would do a lot better with some sea salt, and maybe make the bits of crushed caramel smaller since they kind of just clump up at the bottom. The vanilla bean flavor was pretty strong, less so on the caramel. Still not a bad place over all - on par with Smashburger, but not really a memorable burger/shake either. The staff is really very nice, too, and its very convenient if you live/work downtown.

I challenge ANY Mexican cook, ANY! To learn how to cook a burger with pink in the middle!! The meat here in America is safe to cook med rare, ok?? I asked if medium would have pink in the middle, specifically. The cashier, and their sign assured me that it would. When I saw two Latino females on the grill I knew I would be disappointed. Sure enuf it was "well done", not medium well, well done! When I asked the manager if it should have pink in the middle when ordering medium he responded "A very thin line of pink" as he looks into my "brown" hamburger patty. I waited for him to ask me how it was...crickets. So I said ok and ate my overcooked burger....with my cold fries. The beef was a good blend, just cooked stupid and followed up with poor managment. Senseless waste of time and money all bc of poor managment. This could be a good place!

This was our second visit here. The first visit they messed up our order. My husband asked for no cheese on his burger. When the burgers came out his burger had cheese on it. He sent it back and instead of them making him a new burger they peeled the cheese off. So you could still see pieces of cheese left on the burger. The manager ended up comping that burger. About a year later we decided to give the place another shot. Bad idea. They messed up or order again. The young lady we spoke to was not all apologetic. We asked for the manager and we was just as rude. They acted as if it was our fault that we didnt get what we asked for. We will never come here again. You can get the same quality of burger with much better service just about anywhere.
