What is with all the Rosemary?the steak was stringy and just soaked as well as covered in rosemary sprigs, gross.Lost our waiter for a while.Great wine selection, soft drinks were flat and out of syrup.Literally, the food made me so sick, I vommited in the bathroom. The steak and food was so gross and just so suffocated with rosemary it made me physically ill. We eat steak every week at varying places, this was the worst even for the area which is notoriously an awful place for food. Wish I would of taken in Slop lobster, I mean red lobster over this garbage. Barely made it out the door before the thought of all the Rosemary just berated me once again. The bathroom was about 90 degrees for some reason and really gross. Paper everywhere, over flowing. The hostess was beating yelled at in front of us by an older lady, also an employee. Breads great and the waiter was cool when we found him or when he had time pretty sure he had a lot of tables;filled with sad faces and gallons of rosemary. Gosh I was vomitting for hours after this place. Vegetables were cooked well. Beside the view this place is a joke. Its not really worth the effort unless you just want the view, in that case order drink (not with and pop) and look until the smell of Rosemary makes you pass out. Gotta go puke again

My wife, daughter and I just went to the Republic of Texas Bar and Grill. We stayed at the Omni Hotel and we were walk-ins (no reservation). Despite a very busy season (spring break) and very limited availability they were able to accommodate us immediately.Everything was cooked very well, and we very much enjoyed the scenery. I will say that I personally enjoy my wifes ribeye in comparison to the new york strip steak they served my daughter, but she very much enjoyed it nonetheless. I had the Salmon and I highly recommend it. The portion was very hefty as salmon goes, and it was cooked better than I could ever recreate myself. The side dishes were also very generous in portion and can easily be split with a small party. We enjoyed the mashed potatoes and the mushrooms very much. The service was OUTSTANDING and is the reason for the 5 stars in my review. Food can be prepared well, but the presentation is everything. Our server was nothing less than AMAZING. My wife and I enjoy the oceanaire very much, but this place made them look subpar in regards to service. Total bill was just over $200 with $40 of gratuity totaling $240. It was a gerat evening and I recommend giving it at least one shot to get it right for your party.

My husband and I were there on Saturday February 27, 2016. I had called around 4 pm to reserve. Left my name and info hoping to get a call back confirming my reservation. We got to the restaurant around 8 pm and the ladies up front said that there were booked for the night (although restaurant was mostly empty). After telling her that we had driven from Houston to literally just go there she said that the could not take us. After that the "manager" stepped in the conversation and without listening to us just said No. After going there just for nothing we decided to stop by Katz 21 which is also fine dining and have great customer service. I leave this review so customers from out of town know how the work and how picky they are. To me you have to go above and beyond to make a customer happy, something that does not exist in their vocabulary at all, and next time please listen to the customers opinion before just telling someone NO or at least return a phone call to let customers know that there is no mover availability for a reservation.

The wait staff took forever to seat us, take our order and bring our food, the manager (I assume) came over and told me to take off my hat, all while there was a man with a hat on right next to us. I belive strongly I was discriminated against due to my tattoos and bald head. The other man was the same ethnicity as the manager. The mignon was under cooked and had no flavor. The mashed patatoes had no flavor as well. Huge waste of money. When I went to expalin why I need to wear a hat (disabled vet) the manager became very rude and still said no hat. Not veteran friendly at all. Again the food was terrible (the cooks missed the basic cooking skill of adding salt to all of our dishes.) I am very disappointed especially since it was very expensive. I would love to speak to an executive of this establishment to make sure no one else wastes money on bland food. I doubt the claim of 4 diamond establishment since McDonalds has better meat than this place.

The food is pretty good. I frequent restaurants like Perrys Steak House, Bobs Steak House, Flemmings and Shulas Steak House. The food was better than Perrys and Flemings but not as good as Shulas or Bobs. It is a bit pricy but that is to be expected from a restaurant as such. Everything is ala cart. I had the Steak and Lobster for $75.00. Plus an appetizer, salad and side. $100 pus per person. The reason for only two stars is that although the food is good, the service is catch 22 at best. There is no consistency with their service. One day you will have great service the next day your server will not only forget to bring dinner bread to your table but forget your table all together. Turning your dinner into a three hour ordeal. Ive eaten at this restaurant numerous times because the choices are slim in Corpus Christi. For the amount of money it cost you would at the very least expect somewhat decent service.

I have read the recent reviews on this place and dont really understand why people dont like it. This place is amazing. The AC works so well I needed a sweatshirt. The food is absolutely amazing and the service was wonderful. From the moment I walked in the door I was treated like a valued respectful guest. It is fine dining and it is a steak house so you can expect steak house prices. I suggest the filet mignon or New York Strip. To be honest this place is a little nice for the hotel it sits on top of. I love the Omni but it is a 3 or 4 star hotel in Corpus and the restaurant is a 5-star. So I guess it is possible that some of the reviews were influenced by the hotel or possibly visited by guests that were expecting something other than what was offered. Not really sure. But go here, take your wife, it is very nice and you wont be disappointed.

We have dined at the Republic of Texas for 9 years and it was always delicious until our last two visits. We dined Wednesday night, Feb. 3 - party of 6. I ordered the New York Strip and my husband ordered the Rib-Eye, I could no believe my eyes when the waitress brought my steak. It looked like a breakfast steak or a steak from Bonanza or K-Bobs. It was 1/2" think and tough as a boot. The same for the Rib-Eye. Almost $40.00??? Our steaks at the Republic of Texas used to be at least 1 1/2" think and delicious. We brought most of the steak home to our four-legged "girls." know the restaurant has a new manager and he must be trying to save money but hes also losing customers. Its Katz 21 for us now. The Republic of Texas is definitely off of our list forever and were telling everyone about our horrible meal.
