The food here was good but not outstanding. The one major drawback is that there were massive onions in the beef, which means that if you dont like onions then you shouldnt order anything with plain ground beef. The waiter failed to mention this to my wife and son, who specifically was told they dont eat onions and ordered tacos, which of course was loaded with onions as a result. Other items ordered were cheese enchiladas, which were your run of the mill enchiladas (if you mess those up your not texmex) and a beef chimichanga (just watched Deadpool and couldnt stop thinking of them) which was alright except, you guessed it, there were huge onions in the beef along with green peppers (which I dont mind, but they werent mentioned in the menu). Service was good, but the overall area inside was very cramped, bc it is a small building (looks like it used to be an old house) and as a result it was overly loud as well. When you have to shout just to talk to the person next to you then its safe to say that there is an echo problem and you had better put some inexpensive sound dampening material in the corners of the ceilings. Overall, I would say that it could easily be compared to most of your average area texmex restaurants, nothing to die for and speed back to tomorrow, but nothing exactly bad about it either, try it out as it may be exactly what you are looking for.

I would frequent this establishment quit often for lunch. Today my sister and I decided to try something different on the lunch menu, the awful dreaded brisket tacos! It was obvious from looking at the plate that the food was not fresh! I asked the waiter and what he told me has me literally in the restroom vomiting! Nothing on the plate was fresh, not the rice, beans, pico, salsa OR the brisket tacos! He stated that the tacos were actually made a couple of days ago. WTF! Today is Tuesday! So this brisket was made, stored and served from this WEEKEND! I was pissed! I understand the cost of food after attending culinary school, but damn it, they make GOOD money! I will NEVER go back, not even for the good drinks or to laugh with my favorite waiter! They are just passing out death on plate!

I stopped in here while visiting with friends. Overall it was pretty good. I had beef flautas with beans, rice and pico de gallo (subbed for guacamole). Overall everything was very tasty. The service was also very good. Our sever was very attentive, but not to the point of being obnoxious. My friends and I went there to eat and talk, and our conversation was not disrupted at all. The prices were also OK. I thought it all a good value. The reason I dont give it more stars is the fact that it seemed a little crowded. The restaurant is in a repurposed home, so there isnt a lot of flexibility for spacing the tables, but it just seemed a bit cramped to me. If you dont mind the atmosphere, then I think you will enjoy this place because of the good food and value for your money.

I really hope management reads these reviews. The Cedar Hill location is terrible, when it comes to placing a to go order over the phone. I called that location for 15 minutes, the line was continuously busy. What makes this so annoying is, this isnt the first time this has happen. I must go the restaurant in Midlothian They always answer the phone and are so polite and nice. Maybe Cedar Hill needs an over haul, with staff and management. I only go to Cedar Hill, because we live by Joe Pool and they are close. I hate Matts went out of business. If they dont watch it theyll be next.

I specifically told the host that I didnt want to sit outside and she had the waitress to sit us outside. I couldnt enjoy my meal without waving away flies and they was all on my plate and my drink and the sad part is the manager didnt want to do anything about it. I had to get his managers phone number and after doing that and getting my ticket adjusted. The manager at the restaurant was rude and talking about us in Spanish to his coworker, thats just rude. This was my worse experience ever and even though my ticket was adjusted. I will never come to this place!!!!!!!!

Our credit card was charged without our permission. On June 11 we had lunch, and paid with our credit card. We left a cash tip for or waiter. The next day while checking our bank account transactions we noticed an additional charge on our card. The waiter added another tip on the card. Make sure you scratch through the tip portion or your reciept. Im sure he has done this with others. We had to press charges for theft. We are waiting to hear from the owner. Something has to be done to protect customers. We hope the manager will contact us.

It is not a perfect restaurant as it is in an older house, a little cramped as far as seating, not furnished very well, but the servers are fast, eficient, and friendly. the fajitas are excellent and portions are huge! they have a great lunch special on enchiladas that is good. It is probably overall the best Mexican restaurant in Cedar Hill. Good mexican is hard to find around here and the other two main mexican restaurants in town are not very good in comparison. Its worth it! If you are in Cedar Hill and crave mexican, go!

Im giving two stars because I used to enjoy eating here. But today while eating the chicken enchilada plate for lunch I watched a centipede crawl out of my food! Game over....I took my plate to manager and he said and I quote, "not in food, must have crawled up onto your plate" Ummmm, wow. I cut a piece of enchilada and saw that centipede crawl out and travel into my rice! Makes you wonder what state the kitchen is in. And who defends why a living creature is making its way across my plate!

A 1 is being generous. When we arrived my daughter was on her way. I let the waitress know and she got an attitude. We wanted an appetizer so my husband had to tracker her down. Im sorry we are a bi-racial family and will not be returning. I want 2 brisket and 2 fajita taco.. no all tacos have to be the same. Why? No answer, no substitutes. The brisket tacos are awful. Fajati tacos were better but dry she also assumed we wanted corn torillas.. I will not be returning.

The food was pretty good. We always kind of grade a mexican/tex-mex restaurant by the rice/beans/chips/salsa, because almost all of them give you the same bland stuff. So when we find one that has some great salsa or some refried beans with flavor then we will frequent them more often. I feel like the prices were a little high for the food. Overall, it wasnt too bad, but it didnt have anything to just "wow" me and make me want to come back.

Food was decent and arrived quickly. However the service was horrible. They close at 9pm. We arrived at 840pm. Ordered drinks and food. At 9pm they turned off the air and fans! It was 95 degrees (Typical Texas weather in July). We had to leave our drinks and cut our conversations short. We had already paid our tab we were just trying to finish our drinks. $150 tab, youd think someone could stick around until 915pm! Very unprofessional!
