If I were currently still drinking Tavernas $1 mimosas, this place would probably be five stars - who doesnt love drinks that cost less than parking in downtown?! Sadly, I am sober now and all I remember about the food at Taverna was that it was unimpressive. I want to like this place, everyone says its THE brunch spot in Austin, but after quite a few visits over the past few years, the biggest draw about this place are the drinks, which Ive realized is used to cloud my judgement about the food. Drinks - As previously mentioned, they have $1 mimosas and bellinis which are definitely hard to pass up. They also have a decent bloody mary made with Zing Zang mix, which isnt bad - could definitely use some more vodka though. Service - Great!! The service at Taverna is actually really impressive for how busy they are. I was promptly brought water, our waiter was really attentive and brought us mimosas/bellinis when we were running low, and our food came out in a decent amount of time after ordering. BUT BEWARE, when they tell you the wait for brunch at 1:30 PM is an hour, it actually is a full hour. So I suggest getting there pretty early if you want a short wait time. Food - So I can only really speak for their brunch food since that is all Ive tried. They have pretty much standard breakfast food: eggs benedict with your choice of ham, bacon, or crab meat, various kids of omelettes with a create your own option, french toast, waffles, etc. The food is decent, but nothing special or out of the ordinary. And its definitely a bit pricy usually priced at $10+. It definitely gets really crowded and crazy so go early if youre planning to go. I would say its definitely worth it for the drinks, but not so much for the food.

Myself and a friend happened upon this beautiful restaurant after finding our restaurant of choice Stacks was out of business and boy was I happy with what we stumbled into! Service came quickly by a cheerful waiter happy to help, he was a little bit forgetful but always remembered before we had to remind him to step it up. His genuine apologetic attitude and the fact the Chef came to check on us himself on a very busy Saturday night earned Taverna 3 stars for service. We decided to skip the appetizers as we were on a time crunch and went in for the main course I chose the "Fiocchi al Gorgonzola e Pera" a Delicious FRESH Pear and Gorgonzola stuffed Tortellini style pasta tossed in walnuts, arugula and a warm creamy Dolce Vita sauce. I wasnt sure what to expect with this interestingly paired combination but what I concluded by the end of my meal was that it was music to my mouth. I followed my somewhat small but very satisfying meal with the creamiest most delicate Creme Brulee I have ever eaten, perfectly crusted with a touch of dark and so amazingly flavored it leaves you dreaming of dancing Vanilla beans all night long. The restaurant itself is very romantically decorated making it a perfect date night choice. But be prepared if you want wine because even the most basic glass, a little less than 1/4 full will run you at least $8.00. And in this users opinion that is a little pricey for cheaper wines like Stella and Beringer.

Today my wife and I enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Taverna restaurant located downtown. We had no trouble parking at City Hall and got our card validated immediately on arrival. It was extremely busy but had no wait time to find a small quiet table close to the kitchen. This we did not mind because the kitchen was completely open and visible, making it a joy watching the chiefs toss pizza dough in the air. We promptly order an appetizer of bruschetta and both a house salad and tomato basil soup. While the bruschetta was nothing to write home about, the salad was rather good and the soup was amazing. We order our lunch which consisted of risotto all’ aceto balsamico con pollo and scaloppine alla caprese. The risotto was some of best I have ever tasted, the creamy flavors of the rice mixed perfectly with zesty nature of the balsamic vinaigrette. The scaloppini came with a bacon wrapped layered potato cake and julienned mixed vegetables. Both dishes were excellent but the risotto was the clear winner. The service was top notch and some of the best I have seen recently. The was a gem of a place and we enjoyed our lunch date immensely.

I usually dont give a 1 star to a restaurant but this place completely earned it. I went for Sunday brunch with some friends, as we heard it was good and have cheap mimosas. Our waitress Mel showed a bad attitude from the beginning and after finishing our food and ordering some extra rounds of mimosas she said we need no ordered more food in order to keep serving drinks. My friends ordered more food but she kept refusing to serve more mimosas. We spoke with the manager and he was worst saying he decided not to serve more drinks because we could drive and cause and accident and make the responsible for it. Thats the worst excuse I ever heard, we were just siting in our table without showing anything that would say we were drunk, which any of us werent, also I have never been told something like that before in a restaurant. If a place is not going to respect their specials they shouldnt offer it at all. Im never coming back to a place that treat me like that, if you want to have a nice brunch in Austin with cheap mimosas better go to The Park, which by the way is cheaper.

My boyfriend and I checked out Taverna here in Austin, TX to celebrate our anniversary, having met in Europe six years ago to the day. Honestly, we were raving about our experience there for days! The atmosphere out on the patio was romantic with a very European feel. The menu was small but everything sounded interesting. Once we got our meals though, WOW, it tasted incredible! We were excited to bring some home for leftovers. :) The wine list was varied as well, and our server helped make some suggestions based on what we were eating. The service we received was top-notch and the prices were also very reasonable (we had two rounds of drinks, salad, appetizer, full meal AND dessert for less than $100). Overall, we were very impressed with everything at Taverna in Austin. Im disappointed to hear the negative experiences posted by others (possibly at other locations...?), but I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.

As a travel agent, I was in Austin and looked around for a good restaurant that was going to serve my niece who is allergic to many foods. The hostess was very accommodating and made sure her pizza was made in the oven in a nut free environment. I ate here 2xs- over the weekend. Had the butternut squash raviolis which was made fresh and really delicious. I wasnt a great fan of the sauce, which seemed a bit oily and came with fried basil which was more like burnt basil over my yummy raviolis. The 2nd time I ate eggplant parm. It was layered with heavy cheese and I couldnt really tasted the eggplant which was baked and lost the crispy taste I prefer. It was also in a sauce that had so many different flavors, I wasnt sure what I was eating. My nieces pizza was fine, could have been less greasy and more cheesy. The staff was helpful, Restaurant clean. Outside area/patio was warm on the 1st night that we sat inside with the better AC on night 2.
