In and out burger in Austin, Texas, gets a lot of bad publicity. The people at Austin love their local food and local businesses thrive here. Ive been hearing a lot about how in and out burger, from California, is crazy good, but apparently many Texans hate it and rant about how terrible the food is. I just happen to be in the vicinity I have an in and out burger and decided to find out for myself, heres how it went: I decided to get a cheeseburger, just the way it is, and an order of fries. I got a water to drink as to not sully the taste. I started with the fries, which are made fresh and restaurant apparently, which were not bad but lacking in crispiness I would expect from french fries. Next the burger, which was a total disaster. I know the cliché is everything is big in Texas, but surely things in California cant be the small. The burger is about the size of what I would serve my son, but I imagine that with half a head of lettuce and a third of an onion on it. Yes theres literally more vegetables than anything else on this burger, which is then topped with thousand island dressing, a.k.a. secret sauce. Even now, I still cant get the taste of that mouth full of onion off my tongue. I eventually had to go back and get a soda despite the water just to rinse my mouth out. I hate to give the place a bad rap, but the food was very terrible, the burgers were bland, and the fries limp. This is not a place that belongs in Texas, especially a food loving city like Austin

Its very interesting that most of the reviews are either 5 or 1 star. As a Californian myself, I think In-N-Out is overhyped by other Californians. From the more moderate perspective, it is a good "staple" -- its cheap (cheeseburgers being about $2-3) and they are good at what they do (fresh ingredients, nothing from frozen, etc.), thus the relatively limited menu. That said, if youre looking for something gourmet or with a million options, go somewhere else. People like this place because its quick, tasty, and fresh while being economical. Haters, please eat somewhere else -- like Shake Shack or something!

Burgers are adequate. Fries are decent. The menu is boring. The decor is off putting. Whataburger is better and gives you more bang for your buck. Mainly, Im writing this because, I live by this store and the fact that they think it is acceptable to pressure wash at 2 am on a weeknight, shows a lack of foresight and concern for those around them. I tried calling the store to suggest they plan better in the future, but was met with typical big company service. I expect loud noises from idiot frat houses, but not a respectable business like this. And at least, I can get the frat house to quiet down.

Waited 20 minutes for a simple cheeseburger that was supposed to be a double, inside wasnt overly busy and it wasnt an odd hour. The drive through menu layout is horrific and the staff seemed content with making me wait while I could see my bag ready. On top of this, the burger was dry and bland, it felt like I had gotten a loaf of bread with a sprinkling of ground beef and cheese. The shake was no better, it tasted airy and left a gross texture in my mouth. I dont plan on my money on this overpriced trash again. Really disappointed with this place not sure what the hype is about.

Im going to review this based on the comparison to the West Coast locations. Is it as good, no. Is it better than a lot of the burger places nearby, yes. I can say that the staff here is friendlier than those in the West Coast and for that congrats. The best part about this specific one is that the wait is very short. Other locations such as those in LA are packed and have a long line of cars. In this, I got my burger in less than 5 minutes. Considering Austin has a line culture, this place is not one.

I went too this in-n-out location on west campus the other day ate inside to come out and find my car booted. The company hired too boot these vehicles were straight forward and very mean. I had a horrific experience I hope no one else has to deal with this issue. For anyone that decides to visit this location be aware of your vehicle. Due too the fact that this booting company actually Does not care wether you were at the restaurant or not. They will boot your vehicle and charge you a $150 fine.

A terrible parking lot. Boot many cars every day, even people going to their restaurant who decide to eat their mediocre burgers and bland fries. I even saw someone get assaulted by the rude individuals hired explicitly to boot anyone on their property. I will not be going to an In n Out again due to this location. Jigglypuff (the parking lot guard) tried to hit him with a boot, she assaulted him.

Horrible management. Scavengers wait in the parking lot for you to walk away (even in to In n Out) and boot your car immediately. I just witnessed Gigglypuff (the parking lot protector) assault a guy and try to hit him with a boot. If she was hired by In n Out to threaten and assault potential customers, then shame on them. College kids dont have enough money as it is, this is complete extortion.

Food was great came out in a timely fashion and the tables were clean but one of the cashiers went to each table but completely skipped our 2 tables with black people & Latinos and asked everyone else if everything was ok and if they needed anything.. Next time i go to austin i WONT be visiting this particular location again.

The food was delicious and very well prepared at great speed. The staff are really nice, outgoing, and eager to help. This just opened in the last week, so everything is absolutely immaculate. Id definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a great meal in a nice environment.

There isnt much to the menu, but they do it well. I am surprised at how much less In and Out costs when compared to other fast food joints. Then again, it seems like the burgers are a bit smaller than said establishments.

Good food, but this location is hardly In-N-Out if youre dining in. A more appropriate name would be In-N-Stay. Food takes too long to prepare if youre dining in. (Meanwhile you see people zip through the drive through.)

I have no idea how this place has good ratings. With a long wait, cardboard fries, and dry flavorless meat, idk why anyone would come here over P. Terrys which is down the road and 100 times better, faster, and tastier.

I ordered the #2, cheeseburger and fries. The burger wasnt great but it did have all the basics - meat, onion, lettuce, etc. The fries were not good at all, soft no crunch. Over all the food just wasnt that great.

Best burgers out there! An its a fun experience. Theyre Christian owned so they put scripture on all of their products. Which I think is pretty cool. They wear goofy uniforms too, its just a fun experience.

The ingredients are fresh. The location is very clean and quaint. The workers are diligent and very friendly. This place is popular with the college student crowd, and anyone who is traveling through UT.
