Stopped in last night near closing. We were seated immediately, greeted by a very friendly staff. I have worked locally at Sevierville restaurants and say this one has their act together pretty well. Even though a server had apparently quit that night, our server took on quite a bit and did it extremely well. I thought the prices were more than fair. Burgers tasted great, large portions of food with leftovers to take home. The kitchen staff was on point and food came out fast and right. Kudos to them! (but guys, I think you gave me a half pound of onion on my burger lol) I know near closing, kitchen is ready to go home and exhausted. Late arrivals can make you stress. We tried to keep it simple. The restaurant was clean and fun. Heres the only thing I saw that kind of bothered me, just an observation. Your servers make their own milkshake & dessert orders. Thats a tall order at a diner, in addition to their workload. It looked like another server had been cut early. A table of about 8 young girls came in, given to our server, as well. No sooner than she started on them, hostess sat her another new table of about 6. One server was chatting up a table she had and was relaxed. The cut server was standing behind counter watching. Our server was hustling her butt off while 2 other servers watched her making shake after shake. Neither attempted to offer a hand and the cut server grabbed her purse and left. The hostess actually went over to get the new tables orders and drinks. She too, was hustling. Being so near closing, our server did it without complaint. Having been a manager before, I would have had that staffs attention the next day. No matter my position or shift end, Id have had all hands on deck in FOH to help this young lady. Its about the customer and helping your team. You dont just ignore her struggling like that. I felt so bad that I wanted to jump in and help her myself. Sorry for the long explanation. Your diner was really good. Its no reflection on the quality and Ill be back for sure. It was a wonderful place to eat. It tasted homemade and yummy.

Went 2/6/2016 to The Diner. Neat atmosphere but from the minute we walked thru the door something was a bit off kilter. We spied a corner booth easily large enough for our family yet the person who greeted us was hell bent that we werent going to sit there even after me pointing it out several times, should have left right then and their. Dont remember our servers name although she did a good job and interacted with my 5 yr old. Large menu primarily centered around burgers and sandwiches. Wife had the reuben which for 11 bucks left a lot visually to be desired but she said it was good. Just looked a little skimpy for that price. Her fries looked old and limp and not very good and she concurred. Both boys had the bad fries as well. My oldest said his burger was good and my other son said his hot dogs were good. Very dissapointed in the fried green tomatoes from a visual stand point and everyone who ate them felt they were considerably overcooked but every one we saw on other tables looked the same way. The Cheese grits were simply regular grits with some shredded cheese added on top, they were however creamy and tasy. I ordered the meatloaf and three sides. The green beans had an odd taste to them, the gravy on the mashed potatoes had an odd taste and the mac and cheese was a dead ringer for stouffers frozen mac and cheese. Meatloaf was good enough to eat. All in all a dissapointment especially for 85 bucks counting tip for diner food for two adults a teen, tween and 5 year old. I would, however go and give them another shot and stick to burgers and see if that is any better or if 2/6/2016 was just a bad night.

Visited for the first time on June 3, 2017 as a result of seeing The Diner previously featured on a local travel channel in Louisville, KY. Returning home from the South on I-40, we decided to stop for dinner since we were staying overnight anyway at a Sevierville hotel specifically to experience The Diner. (Most hotels give 10% off coupons if you ask the desk). Brandi was our outstanding server. We were first greeted as we entered by another male employee behind the counter. Brandi was GENUINELY friendly and helpful recommending the dinner special which we both ordered...Entree + 2 sides w/ bread=$6.99. All else= extra charge. She returned to the table often (but not too often) to check on us with refills, etc. I had read the online reviews before deciding to visit and did not know if things would turn out favorably....they did!. Our expectations and experience was well above average. She highly recommended the banana pudding (my favorite anyway) which we took back to the hotel for later enjoyment. She even split that order into separate cups for us and packaged it without asking. Prices were VERY reasonable as noted by the many families eating dinner that night. If you are "lost in the 50s" (or 60s) as I am OR just like vintage autos of that era, this is the place for you not to be missed! Check for Cruising dates for these autos. My only regret is that I did not order a cheeseburger and malt...next time!

I have never felt more unwelcome in my life. Not only were we blatantly ignored when we arrived, we actually had to ask to be seated. After waiting for ten minutes we were not served at all. The workers instead chose to completely ignored our presence and continued on with their conversations. We were the only customers in the restaurant, there is no way that they could say they were too busy. Honestly, if you didnt want our business, you could have just told us that you were closed. It would be a lot better than offending hungry guests offering you not only payment but a gracious tip as well. This is deplorable. If I had to think of one nice thing to say, our table was clean. I suppose the restaurant was very authentic, I guess the workers were acting as if this was before desegregation.

We came here once last year and got the elk and buffalo burger each came with a small side of fries and we got a milk shake. The Buffalo burger was out of this world amazing! The elk burger was good too, but being a different animal it naturally is a more dense meat with less flavor than buffalo, but it was fun to try something new. The food here is wonderful, the place is clean, and has a 1950s feel with the waitresses wearing poodle skirts and all. We loved the atmosphere here and look forward to visiting again. Prices were good about $8-$10 for each burger.

My husband and I had high hopes for this place. We had been wanting to go for awhile. We live closer to Mels Diner & we love it....but we came here & were sadly disappointed. Service is below par. Food took forever to come to our table & when it did it was cold. My husband and I are the least picky people we know, and I cannot believe I have to write a bad review. Its unfortunate. If you are a tourist, I suggest you go to Mels Diner. Its a much better atmosphere with friendly service & great food.
