First, I love the improvements over Portland Brew. The interior is much cleaner and happier. The staff seems a lot more pleasant. I didnt see the guy with black hair who was always so rude and would ruin every Portland Brew experience, but he may still be lurking there. A guy sitting near me had a terrific looking sandwich, but I only had a coffee, so no food review here. The down side to my critique is a rather big one since this is a coffee shop. It was the coffee that seemed very wrong. It had me wondering if they were not as cautious as they should be when brewing flavored coffee. I had the medium roast, unflavored, but it had the tinge of chemical flavoring taste to it. I can drink some crap coffee, but this was too unpleasant to finish. Besides being able to tolerate very low quality coffee at family events, I believe my opinion is also very valuable because I worked as a barista for 8 years at 3 different coffee shop. I know pretty well that when brewing flavored it is a must to use a separate brew basket, urn, airpot, etc. That resin will destroy regular coffee. This is only my strong speculation that there is some coffee cross contamination happening. If not, it was the most acidic cup of coffee I have ever had, far beyond what would be considered enjoyable. And just to clarify that I am not undercover competition, I have never worked at a coffee shop in Nashville. Although I would definitely recommend Fido/Bongo Java coffee over Dose by far. I go out of my way for their coffee, which is frustrating for me because Dose is literally right next to my house! I want to like it so bad! I want to walk over and sit and have a really good cup of coffee.

Describe my experience, Google inquires, a ????? My first encounter with this pathetic place was Spring of 2011. They had some kind of attitude because I am generationally likely twice, @ least, the age of their "target demographic". Additionally their internet was out of service, & they had some kind of lame excuse. My service canine OrEO & I are street performers and have our own Street paper. I parked my vehicle for a few days at 5 in the morning in an innocuous corner of their shared parking lot, and I was threatened with having my Saturn Station Wagon towed. During our Mayoral election cycle in 2015 they showed a bias towards the out-of-state , carpet bagging scally-wagin conservative, & had campaign signs on their property to back that. DOSE BLOWS !!!!!

Dose Coffee – best coffee shop along West End - you will find the service is friendly, the coffee is great, and the atmosphere is minimal yet warm. The coffee is far superior than other shops close by, the selection of teas is quality, and the menu options are sufficient and tasty. The bagels from Bagel Face Bakery are outstanding. I must admit, this is usually the driving force for my arrival. Hands down the best bagels in Nashville. I am always pleased with the baristas at Dose, and the customers are polite as well. That’s oddly important to me. Check it out! It is well worth that extra minute.

Ive been going here for years. In my opinion they make the most reliable delicious latte in town. Plus its just the right amount of cool atmosphere without being pretentious like a lot of the other local spots. Any weekend we head out of town we plan our departure around stopping here first for a DELICIOUS rosemary parmesan breakfast sandwich. Sweet people and great products with a nice bright atmosphere. Great for a midday meet up with a friend.

The coffee tastes excellent but, unfortunately for Dose, that is only one facet of an experience. The staff is impersonal and unfriendly (if not judgmental and condescending) and out of the last five weekends Ive gone the Internet has not worked at all four of those times. As someone who values at least decent internet in a coffee shop and an occasional smile from a human being once in awhile this has proven to not be the coffee shop for me.

As an out of towner visiting family in Nashville regularly over the years, Im always looking for a solid coffee shop and Im a big fan of the way Dose does things. First, not to be overlooked, the staff is kind and pro. Ive typically come for the espresso (via Americano) and ice coffee (on tap!!!), but the food is also really good - fresh ingredients and as thoughtfully made as their coffees.

Amazing idea. A coffee shop that serves coffee. A few simple pastries. And thats it. Pour-overs and the standard barista offerings but best of all is that its just coffee. Bright open space, seating for about two dozen, pleasant music but nothing to distract from a good cup of coffee. Great meeting place. Easy access off West End and 440.

I was just passing through Nashville headed back home and decided to try Dose. I was quite pleased with the experience. The food was something out of my dreams. I couldnt imagine a better way to construct a breakfast BLT. I also had the salty CC cookie w/ an Americano. It is pricey but worth it IMO.

One of the few places that pioneered the pour over. They have a machine that does that and its seriously good stuff. They have nice bites, and a great selection of roasted beans to purchase. They are also the only place to accept the Belly card to reward frequent visitors.

The atmosphere was nice. It is decorated with worldly photographs of beautiful scenes. The coffee was pretty good, and they prepared it pretty quickly. The sandwiches that we ordered were toasted a little too much, but tasted good [other than the overly crisp bread]

This is a nice little gem to discover in Nashville after being in Italy for three weeks. Service was great and the cashier gave recommendations for where to find a Moka Pot. Nice atmosphere both in and out! Amazing prints for sale! Very cozy Italian feel to it!

Coffee is strong and the food is good. Basically everything I want in the morning. The staff seems a lot friendlier than the people that used to run Portland Brew. There are plenty of places to sit, but dont grab a booth if you plan to plugin, because you cant.

Good food and very good coffee. Friendly service taking the order. Fairly long wait to get the coffee, but maybe they were understaffed that day. If the barista was rushed, I couldnt tell from the cappuccino. It was delicious. Expect a crowd and a wait.

One of the best coffee shops in town and certainly the best near Vanderbilt. Great espresso and slow pour coffee. Also good for sitting and working. Great space to relax and also a little outdoors seating. Parking can be a pain during rush hour...

These people take coffee very seriously, and we are the beneficiaries! I worked for four years at a certain large coffee company (think green aprons), so I can say with some level of knowledge that this is the real deal.

There are few places that sell--much less serve--my favorite roaster of coffee, Counter Culture. The staff is friendly and great purveyors of their craft. The cafe has a welcoming vibe and is a popular location.

They dont serve brewed decaf. Youd think they take some effort to brew some good tasting decaf. In the big scheme of things, coffee is fairly inexpensive to brew, so brewing some decaf should be a no brainer!
