Bad food, poor service - total waste of money This was easily the worst dinner I have had in a long time. I had been to the Jefferson City Gondolier a while back (maybe a year or more) and remember getting a nice, hearty Italian meal at a good price. That was not the case on this occasion. First: Way over priced. For 3 adults and a 2 year old our bill was $50.00, which would have been fine if the food had been any good. I had the Canellini. The "freshly ground beef" described in the menu actually resembled the strange gray-ish meat-substance that you find inside of Chef-Boyardee Ravioli. The meat sauce was pretty bad too, bland and it had a funny taste. My sisters spaghetti was pretty awful too - how do you screw up spaghetti??? The service was worse than the food. There were at least 3 people standing around the counter doing nothing at all times, yet we couldnt get refills and no one could be bothered to clear the salad and bread plates or empty bread basket from our obviously over-cluttered table. And you think that one of the bored servers could have taken 5 minutes away from their conversation to clean the disgusting bathroom (yuck, just yuck). Our waitress, when she did appear, was really unfriendly and almost seemed annoyed to be serving us at all. We are all pretty laid back and easy-to-please when we go out. Even the most basic, polite service will get a 20% tip from me. But, the service and food here were both shockingly bad. Will not go back. Ever. Just not worth the $50 gamble.

The first couple of times we went to the restaurant in Jeff City it was wonderful. The food was good and the wait staff was attentive. The last two times the food was not very good. I had ordered the Tilapia for the luncheon special and it was served covered in really disgusting chicken-ish gravy. Today I ordered Shrimp Linguini only to find that it was dripping in the same gravy-ish "sauce". My husband ordered the Manicotti but he sent it back because there was a under-taste of metal in the food and there was a ton of cheese on it, much more than was necessary. He didnt want to try again but had ordered the sausage and pepper appetizer so he had something to eat. I am wary of restaurants that smother everything in sauce and cheese. They seem to be trying to hide what the dish really tastes like. If I wanted the same sauce on everything I ordered I could have gone to Ruby Tuesday. We paid $31 for this meal...Im sorry I didnt say anything to the manager. Our waitress was very young and quite possibly new. The service was bad, they had run out of coasters for the drinks and we were offered no bread plates for the bread sticks they automatically serve. Ill give them one more try and if they fail, we will no longer go there. Such a shame, it was so good in the beginning.

Have visited this place numerous times. Had a great experience but tonight we may never be back. We were out to eat with his shift, he works for public safety for the city. They were in uniform and on duty. The bills were all messed up so my husband pays cash to cover everyones. After we had walked out, she had stopped 2 of the guys and said "your friend didnt leave me any money, he didnt leave a tip." She clearly hadnt been back to the table to check....we had all left around $15 from a party of 5.... I may never go back, stopping customers and saying something about a tip is classless. We will never be back...EVER!! The manager overheard her say this and was on the phone when she had said it. My husband walked back in and talked with the manager, he assured us it would be taken care of. I dont care who you are, you NEVER ask about a tip. Extremely unhappy about this experience with this waitress. Can not remember her name, may start with an L, but she has a strong northern accent...not happy about this at all.

Arrived at the restaurant at about 6:15 was seated immediately after a few minutes the waitstaff took our drink order then the food order after two episodes of sponge Bob we were informed that they were out of salad mix after another sponge Bob the salad came out poor at best ..another 2 sponge bobs then the food . Im using sponge Bob as the example because that was what was on the TV above my table . Actually that was best part because I like sponge bobs but sponge bob episodes are 15 min each so this took WAYYYYYY to long . This also happened 3 weeks ago . I love your alls chicken wings they are better than most wing places but this is my last trip .. not even a manager came out only a weepy waitress . So so long gondolier restaurant Im not eating here or any of your other restaurants... Ron Clabo Jr

We have visited this restaurant a few times, everything had been fine. In fact this was my favorite restaurant. My family and I went tonight I ordered my appetizers and my main dishes. 25 minutes later still not appetizers or food. My wife (seeing I was getting very perturbed) asked our waitress (if you want to call her that) if she could check on our appetizers. She said OK and went to the kitchen. She comes back 10 minutes later with all the appetizers and main dishes all together. We never got a refill on our drinks or she never even came and asked us the normal "how is everything". As I left, I asked for the manager, and got he is outside at the moment. I did call the manager when I got home and he tried to make everything right, I wont be back.

Dont waste your time calling in an order over the phone because theres a 50/50 chance that no one will put your order into the system, and when you arrive to pickup said order, they will accuse you of calling the wrong number. Then youll be forced to pull out your cell phone and show them in your call log that you called the correct number. Afterwards the person youre talking to will ask everyone else who takes phone orders if they remember talking an order for a large pepperoni pizza and everyone says "no." So of course no one takes responsibility just "well make you another one," to which I replied "if you cant bother to make the first one, them how do I know youll make this one." ... In short gondolier of Jefferson city is on my no fly list.

They always get my order right. great carryout. fresh and hot. wonderful salads. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes excellent food. I cant comment on dining in actual gondeliers. I have only ate inside a few times. but I am sure it is really good.too. for the amount of food, it is a good value. it is the meatball parm is the best meatball sub I have ever ate.all their salads are always fresh, taste like they were recently prepared unlike mc donalds. My parents enjoy their food, also. they are pretty picky about restaurants. so gondelier, keep on doing a great job.
