Monterrey is a pretty standard Mexican restaurant. The food is good, but theres nothing really special about about it. The salsa is a bit better than the majority of other Mexican restaurants around. The menu is pretty extensive, but the majority of it is just different combinations of the same dishes youd get anywhere else. Value is alright, again comparable to nearly every other local Mexican restaurant. Decor is the exact same as your standard Mexican restaurant. Sombreros and other Mexican-style decorations along the walls. Service was very good. We had a party of roughly 20, and were taken care of just as well as any other table in the restaurant, if not better. If anything, the wait staff is really what makes Monterrey shine. We were all seated, our orders taken, food brought out, and done eating in roughly 30 minutes. None of our drinks were empty at any point in the meal. Every waiter and waitress that came by was very nice. If you want Mexican food in Spartanburg, Monterrey is a good choice. I wont say that it stands head and shoulders above any other Mexican restaurants in town, but the service is noticeably better.

This was one of the worst experiences Ive had in a restaurant. From the greeting, or lack of from the manager that sat me without saying much to the waiter that barely spoke. When asked how was my food I said "it was ok but the service was bad". The manager said to me "at least something was good". When he handed me my credit card receipt he said "put a zero right there", referring to the tip section. No doubt that I already knew that. I have never left zero for a tip before, ever. Lots of employees sitting around and doing nothing while there are dirty bottles on tables. You couldnt pay me to eat here again. I am surprised that this place is even in business.

The food was pretty good and came out really fast, but there are too many tables for such a small space. It felt extremely cramped in, so much that the waiter would bump our table every time they walked by because he barely had space to walk through. The staff was not very nice either, and though we spoke Spanish, they did not want to even engage in cordial greetings. Youd think they would feel more comfortable at least saying hello. Halfway through my meal I felt unwanted, caged in, and just wanted to get out of there. Next time (if there will ever be one), Ill get my food to go for sure.

Finally found good Mexican outside California! We came here with several friends for a lunch after working hard all day and the food was delicious! Served piping hot, super fresh, excellent food at a reasonable price. Service was excellent and friendly, our water glasses never emptied, and the dishes were removed as soon as they were emptied. We got enough food from a lunch combination to bring leftovers home for later tonight! We recommend this for good Mexican food at a reasonable price!

This place is a joke had to wait to get drinks orderd then had to wait to get our order then my food came out and it was not right and then had to wait for them to come back and I had to ask for tea and we had to wait 20 min on tea this place is crazy and I wont be back and the price is crazy they was in such of a hurry that my childs plate was hot and they just pushed it Im front of her and that pissed me off they didnt say its hot or nothing. I would say not got here.

Service was ok, food was ok, but the gray haired older gentleman became contentious and curt because I asked him for a to-go box when I paid my bill. He rudely informed that I needed to ask my waiter, who was busy tending to his other tables. Save your money or go to the east side location, they are much friendly and eager to help.

Theyve been rude multiple times. And I paid $9.99 the other day and gave $3.51 tip= $13.50 total they dishonestly charged my card for $13.99.....so over 49 cents theyve lost a loyal customer. I was eating there like 2-3 times a week. Papas & Beer just got my business.

I too 2 of my grandchildren there for lunch today. 2 of us ordered off the lunch menu, the other grandchild ordered off the kids menu. We had cheese dip, 2 teas and a water. It cost me 31.89. FROM THE LUNCH MENU AND KIDS MENU!!!! I will never go back!!!!

If I could rate less than 1 I would got my order wrong and then refused to fix and hung up on me after telling me they didnt get it wrong on my carry out. The one on the east side is worlds better I guess Ill travel across town from now on

Best Mexican restaurant in South Carolina! Its definately better than Papas & Beer. I can actually hear my wife talk across the table. The food shows up super fast and accurate. People here are most corteous and the food is fantastic!

My girlfriend and I decided to stopped in because I had been dragging her around Harbor Freight all morning. Absolutely love the food here. The queso is great and the taco salad is my favorite. This is our go to Mexican place.
