My family and I have been coming to this place for several years, very loyal customers. The past few times we have eaten there we have had very poor service, and even raw shrimp that lead to us getting sick. We figured we would give it one more shot tonight, and once again had terrible service. The WORST we have had yet. Went 20 minutes with no drinks, the waitress would throw our food on the table and run away. My mom jokingly waves her hand at the waitress, not being rude, but needing her attention, and the owner (Mickey) came rushing up to the table yelling and cussing at us. "What the f*** is your problem lady" etc. Screaming at us and acting like he had NO idea who we were. But yet we eat there 2 to 3 times a WEEK! I am just SHOCKED at what happened tonight and dont understand. I will NEVER be back, and DO NOT recommend this place to ANYONE. Terrible service, rude offensive owner, and the food isnt too good either.

My wife and I decided to give On The Half Shell a try for some late night dinner. One of Murrells Inlet best bangs for your buck. My wife had the blackened scallop entree with fries & slaw and I had the blacked scallop & fish filet entree with slaw and fries. Each plate was six dollars "What". Both fish and scallops were cooked perfectly. My wife was equally impressed with her six scallop entree. The meal was just enough but left room for a little more. I ordered the Chocolate Chip Cookie Sunday. This dessert was so good that the guy sitting next to me (who had been drinking the whole time) ordered one. I had a tea and my wife had just water. All this for $18.00 came to an even $20.00 with tax. If you are in Murrells and wanting a great meal that wont cost an arm and a leg, give On The Half Shell a try. WoW

Don"t know why we keep going to this place. I guess only because we live so close to it. We get much better service during daylight hours before the staff gets wasted. Last night was the second trip there that we ended up canceling our order after waiting a very long time and seeing the cook staff leave the kitchen to socialize at the bar. We are locals and have had this happen more than once. I also do not like having a bartender roll her eyes at me when I give up on my order and cancel it then proceed to tell me that I have not been waiting that long. I have never seen a business that allows the staff to publicly drink on the clock anywhere else and I am very uncomfortable handing them my debit card to pay my bill. I will be checking into the S.C. liquor laws to see if this place is in violation.

We where in Myrtle Beach this pass weekend and decided to give them a try! We really thought this was a restaurant not a bar, BUT no biggie! We stood there for a few minutes, then decided to seat ourselves. We sat there 15 minutes or longer, no one came to our table or even noticed we were sitting there, 3 waitresses were working all 3 looked at us and never came to our table. We decided to leave and again, no one said anything to us. So we came to the conclusion that if you were not a local then you dont matter. I know this will not matter to them, BUT we wont be back and we will pass on our BAD experience. We took our business to Drunkin Jacks, where everyone is treated the same! We paid a little more for our meal, but was so worth it.

Good Luck. Me and my grandfather arrived at 6:30 and all the tables where empty. With that being said, we set at the bar. The bar was all most filled with locals. Keep in mind I am a local. There was a local that said the GD word over three times. I could not take it anymore and I asked him to not say that word anymore. That is when the manager told me to not talk to the regulars anymore. I complied payed my bill and left. What I wanted to say is, why are all these tables empty? With this being said; they care more about there local drunks. They also made me pay for cocktail sauce and butter. REALLY.... God bless and good luck. There are to many good local restaurants than to deal with this.

We decided to go to On the Half Shell with some friends Sunday morning for their Sunday Brunch Buffet but will NEVER go back! It was from 11-1 and the meager amount of food on the buffet was never out there at the same time. They ran out constantly and the place was not packed. Evident that they were not prepared. Finally after waiting over an hour there wasnt enough food at any one time to fill your plate. We thought it was their first day doing this, but no, it was their 4th. The food in the end wasnt even worth waiting for. There are many buffets around that this is not worth going for.

Absolutely love this place. In the week we were visiting we went at least 3or4 time. I had the shrimp every time and scallops. Service was very good ,checking to see if everything was satisfactory with our meal. Numerous TVs, The place was packed...I noticed the smell of the food coming from the kitchen, cigarette smoke couldnt overpower that ....ummm....I will visit On the 1/2 Shell " EVERY TIME IM IN S.C....From Pittsburgh

My wife loves this place; I dont. It is basically a bar with a dining area. It is noisy and the walls are covered with televisions showing sport telecasts. I have not been pleased with the oysters they serve. Raw oysters are served on beds of ice and the oyster liquor is diluted by the water. Steamed oysters were overdone and as dry as leather. My wife can eat two dozen oysters, but I order something else.

I visit family 3 times a year in Murrells Inlet and they showed me this little gem. We had lunch there today, my third visit, and it was wonderful as always. Friendly staff, good prices, great raw oysters and fried seafood. I have eaten at at least 30 restaurants in this area and this one gets my vote for a guaranteed return visit because it doesnt break the bank like the places on the water.

Fantastic food! Its a little noisy, so if you are looking for a quiet seafood joint, then probably not your place. Its got a family bar sort of feel. But for my big family, it was great for my kids to just have fun without me and the wife worrying about bothering others. The deals are great...LOVED the $.75 bacon-wrapped scallops!!

We decided to go there to give it a shot. Walked in the door and all we could smell was cigarette smoke. We looked at each other and left instantly. A few years ago that would have been OK... it is a bar, however there are just too many other choices that value our business. NEVER will go back.

Food was ok. Staff not very attentive to the customers needs. Saw folks having to get up from their dinner table and get their own drinks. Waitress never checked on us to see if the food was ok or if we needed anything.
