Me and my boyfriend had heard about this restaurant from people in the neighborhood, it sounded super cool and we were waiting for the perfect weather and the perfect time to go...we wanted an awesome laid back date night....this was not it. We were sat and waited on our waitress for about 15-20 minutes, when she finally came she said sorry about the wait but she wanted to finish her cig because you never know when youll get a free second...neither of us smoke and the smell that was on her from it made me get an instant headache, not to mention it was just nasty for a waitress to wreak of cigarettes. Next I asked for something and she said they couldnt do that...all I wanted was a bacon cheese burger...so I had to order something and pick the other stuff off, dont know why they couldnt just not add it in the first place. Then the food took forever to get to us. My boyfriend wanted to try the fried oreos for desert, but I begged him not to since it took so long for the first round to come out...I was right, it took about another 20 minutes to get those. After dropping off the check it was another long while before she came to get it, I almost thought she wasnt going to come back for my card. We are usually good tippers because we have both waited tables and know how it is, so we are always very generous and are repeat customers to our waitress/ waiter, but this is our exception. We wont be coming back and her only tip was maybe come back to the table here and there to do her job. Horrible Service.

This place used to be a favorite. The food was awesome, price was right, and atmosphere was great, especially for kids. The past three times weve been there in the past six months, at least one thing weve ordered has been "sold out." This included my favorite crab cake sandwich. My daughter and I went today and I was told that the crab cake sandwich had been discontinued due to lack of popularity, yet its been sold out every time? My daughter just wanted some corn dogs, and that was even sold out for the day. So we settled on a cheeseburger and the grilled ahi tuna sandwich. After waiting over half an hour for our food and having to beg for silverware and menus, I bit into my tuna sandwich to find that the slab of tuna was cold and raw in the middle... YUCK. My daughter turned up her nose at her burger. After inspection, I found that it was burnt so badly that the char was flaking off, and her fries were soggy and tasted of stale grease. After finding nobody to complain to due to lack of service, I literally had to leave a note that read "Tuna was raw and burger was burnt" as an explanation as to why nobody was at the table anymore. Im not much of a complainer and Ive NEVER walked out of a restaurant, but today we did. What happened to this place? It used to be so great! Get it together, Runway Cafe!!

Ive been enjoying the food from Mr. Mike restaurant since the days of his shop in the Open Book. Never, ever, have received any less than the best food in the world and incredible service. I went there off & on for 4 years; I could go 6 months without going in there, and hed remember my favorite sandwich, the special way I liked it fixed, and my favorite milkshake. Ive been to the new Runway Cafe about 3-4 times for lunch, and what a wonderful view!! His employees there, from the moment you walk in the door, treat you like very special guests in their home, and the atmosphere is incomparable. The prices are EXTREMELY reasonable, even for a poor, broke college student; he could easily charge $30 a plate for the quality of the food, but I know of nowhere else you can buy good, healthy food for $12-$15 for two people (about $6-8 each). I cannot say enough good things about the Runway Cafe... go, you will be SO glad you did, and it is worth your time, and locating it!

I went to Greenville to visit my sister a couple of weeks ago and wanted to take my boys somewhere out of the ordinary to eat. I have a 10 year old and a 7 year old and they love cars, trains, planes; basically any form of transportation. My sister suggested Runway Cafe which is on the runway of the airport. There are literally small, bright colored planes parked right next to the restaurant!! My boys LOVED it!! Im so glad I didnt just take them to McDonalds. Runway Cafe will be much more memorable to them. Food sparks memories. In fact, I ordered a juicy cheeseburger at Runway Cafe and it brought back memories of going to the beach with my family. It had that BBQ taste that is usually experienced only at family gatherings. I will definatly make a regular visit to Runway Cafe anytime I visit Greenville!!

My boyfriend and I met a large group of friends, at Runway Cafe, tonight. We ALL had the time of our lives, at this place. It was so awesome! We sat out on the patio to have a few drinks before we ate dinner inside. The music, the atmosphere and the food was so perfect. I ordered the Orville Wright wrap. Wow!!! Is all that I can say. We all listened to the music play, sang along, watched the planes land. Everyone loved the food and the great service. Our server, was super friendly and made our dinner gathering a fun time that we will always remember. I give this place five stars. We all will be back!!!!!

They had a special on the Country Fried Steak, mashed potatoes, and vegetable medley. I have to say that vegetable medley was fairly decent. The potatoes were obviously instant.. You could pick up a good scoop, turn it upside down, and it would not even fall back to the plate. The Country Fried Steak was hard to cut into and was very dry. For 7.99 it really wasnt a special since their prices seems to be about the same. This is the only time that my family went to check out this Runway Cafe and will also be the very last time that I go and eat there.

Today was my 3rd time to the cafe and I am very disapointed. Since opening, they have jacked up their prices, so now youll pay $7.99-8.50 for a basic burger and fries with water. We waited about 20 minutes for our order to be taken, then another 20-25 minutes for our food. They have a great atmosphere and its a nice place to eat outside, but the food is not worth the money. I had a very basic cheeseburger with fries that tasted like the frozen ones you get from the grocery store. Very disappoint and probably will not be coming back.

Last Saturday was a great day at Runway Cafe. My go-to burger for lunch did not let me down. I highly recommend the "Boyington" burger. But besides lunch, the atmosphere and restaurant staff made this experience even better. Its a great place to eat on the patio and take in the great Greenville weather while watching small planes and jets take off and land on the downtown airport tarmac. And to top it all off, the kids wouldnt let us leave without their favorite Runway Cafe dessert, Fried Oreos! Yum!
