I visited once during a rush time, and once during a quieter hour. The drinks, if not a soda or water, are accompanied by a glass of water without prompting. The steak I had was cooked perfectly to request, and was very tender and well-prepared. The eggs were cooked perfectly to request as well. The omelet was made with fresh ingredients that lent easily distinguishable flavors to the dish, and tasted delicious. The food arrived in a timely manner, and the wait staff were very accommodating. Empty plates were whisked away and drinks were filled without commotion, ensuring that any conversation between the party was not interrupted. The well-laid silverware and table decor gave the restaurant a very warm, yet professional tone. The only drawback was the lack of privacy the tables offered (there are no walls or partitions between tables, and the tables themselves are arranged cafeteria-style); however, the open-air atmosphere this allows makes for a pleasurable dining experience nonetheless. 9/10, would definitely recommend for a pleasant anytime breakfast experience.

Let me start this off by saying that my service was impeccable. Everyone was friendly and the food came out quickly. Now, for the tough love. I ordered the "famous" mushroom omelette which, like IHOP, had pancake batter in the mix but, unlike IHOP, made the omelette taste and feel like an eggy pancake. The worst part was the "sherry mushroom sauce," which must have been cream of mushroom soup, over-thickened with cornstarch (without cooking out the cornstarch taste). I didnt really taste any sherry, but I assume it was there somewhere. The pancakes were good though, so get them if youre coming here. Being in the food service industry myself, I understand that establishments can have some off-days, and Ill give the OPH the benefit of a doubt on this visit. Just ... be careful what you order - and try not to get the $8 pan-omelette :).

Richard is my favorite server. Ive had him on a slow day and a busy Saturday morning and his service is a consistent 5-star service. If you have the fortune of having him take care of you, you tip him at least 20% of your bill. He kept the drinks full, brought out the food hot, and brought the check at the perfect time. The food: always good. The syrup is real syrup, none of that corn syrup and flavoring stuff. The grapefruit juice is freshly pressed. Im always happy to see one of the servers bring a bucket of real oranges or grapefruits to the machine to make the juice. It was $30 for our bill of two orders of corned beef hash and eggs with substitutions for the regular three buttermilk pancakes, a coffee and a large grapefruit juice.

The customer service was great and the restaurant is clean and well liked by folks hence why I cant score it lower. The food, not so much. I had the sausage patty and eggs over medium with blueberry pancakes and a side of grits. The eggs were cooked just like I like them and the sausage was a mildly seasoned patty that was juicy and tasty. The grits tasted like they were quick or instant. Pasty. The pancakes were awful. The blueberries in the compote were hard. I cant even describe the flavor in the pancakes. Almost fermented in a way. Weird. Wrong. I would have thought this restaurant with Pancake in the name would be fantastic. IHOP has better pancakes. Wont be back. Going back to Rays Diner for breakfast while I am working in the area.

My 2-star rating only reflects my opinion of the food. I ordered the corned beef and hash (my favorite breakfast meal). From the description on the menu I expected legit corned beef and potatoes. What arrived at my table was room temperature, canned, processed corned beef and hash. Something I could have purchased from Walmart and heated myself. We were in a rush so I didnt have time to complain and get another meal. I ate my eggs and left. That being said, the waitress was courteous and the atmosphere was welcoming.

The interior is rundown. My husband ordered a ham and cheese omelet that arrived burned on the outside and runny on the inside. We sent that back. My eggs and ham were OK, but were horribly overpriced at $6.15 for two eggs and a piece of toast. The coffee was terrible (really, really terrible, not even drinkable). The waitress was friendly but very ineffecient. It was a Monday morning at 8:30. The restaurant was not at all crowded and there were plenty of other waitresses. We will NOT be returning.

The Original Pancake House is our favorite breakfast spot in Columbia. It is a little bit crowded with lots of tables but that means shorter wait times! The pancakes are delicious and very reasonably priced. We love bringing our little ones here and they enjoy the treats. Good varienty of pancakes, eggs, and other breakfast staples with something for everyone. Highly recommend downloading their app so you can put your name on the list early on weekend mornings as the wait can be a little long.

Best breakfast place around by far!! It was pretty packed and we had to wait (totally worth it though) about 20 mins, which is a given on a weekend morning. I got their pancakes and my husband got their french toast and a side of bacon and hash browns. To die for food. I love everything, from their fresh squeezed orange juice (which is cool to see) and their fresh fruit from the market next store that was served with my warm syrup and pancakes. Highly recommend this place.

Awesome experience and good price for the quality. I had the Apple Pancake. Its a baked pancake made with Granny Smith Apples and cinnamon. The portion is huge, consuming a ten inch plate with ease. The level of effort is reflected in the price, as this is as close a legitimate Apple Pie for breakfast as one can get. I was in at the opening of the restaurant, and a waitress was on her way in, getting to work before clocking in. Great service; attentive and polite.

The omelet I ordered was over cooked, in fact it tasted burnt. I told my waitress about and she said I am sorry and will let the cook know. I told the lady at the checkout how bad the omelet was and all she said was I am sorry. No one offered to discount the bill for the terrible omelet. They dont care if you enjoyed your meal at this restaurant. I loved the food at the location I ate at in New Jersey, but I would not recommend this location.

I understand Sundays are busy, but it took forever for our waitress to come say hi.. among every thing else she should do. She never came back to make sure the food was good (my scrambled eggs werent cooked through and I wanted ketchup) and my husband had an empty glass (soda) that she never refilled same with my coffee. My husband went to the car because the wait was too long for my 1 yr old son who was getting fussy.

The place is not bad and the foods varies from day to day. I went here twice and the 1st time was a 3.5 and this time was a 3 so I rated the 3. The pancakes are small I would call them silver dollars and not as fluffy as I like. They do have a alot of choices on the menu. The place is a bit small, but it was clean and the staff was nice. This place for me is not a I cant wait to get there again.
