My boyfriend and I recently when to the Spiced Pear with another couple after seeing and reading the review about their Lobster BLT in the Providence Journal. We go out to eat often and all of us were very disappointed! While the sandwich was pieces of lobster meat, there was a very different taste to it, a taste we all didnt care for. The lobster meat in my sandwich wasnt cooked. It was translucent in color. You couldnt cut it with a knife. I should have sent it back, but I had already complained about the chowder I was served that had absolutely no littlenecks because they had run out. It was like eating cream of potato soup. (The waitress apologized and did take the chowders off the bill.) The BLT was served on a kaiser roll that was just okay, nothing special for the hefty $25.00 price tag. We definitely would not go back!! Disappointed from MA

We had an extremely disappointing experience with clients at the Spiced Pear. The food was good, but the service was so horrible that it ruined the evening. The waiters were very unattentive; they never filled our wine glasses or water glasses unless asked. They charged us for drinks and a bottle of wine that we never had to up the bill to try and boost their tip. They came over to the table about a half hour after we ordered dessert to let us know they were out of what we ordered and they also tried to pass an $18.00 glass of dessert wine for a pinot grigio, big difference! This place is obviously under poor management. What a waste for such a beautiful and romantic location with good food.

Very bad experience. Extremely limited and pricey dinner selection. My dinner arrived lukewarm at best and, when I mentioned it to the waiter, he just kind of shrugged it off. To add insult to injury, we were given the wrong check, considerably higher than it should have been which is why we called attention to it immediately,. The waiter acknowledged it was the wrong check and offered an inaudible apology then quickly disappeared. AVOID THIS PLACE!

Go for the GQ Burger! Easiliy the best thing on the menu... The magazine Gentlemans Quarterly (GQ) named it the best burger on the east coast. Its listed as a Kobe beef burger, but its more of a pulled-beef type sandwich. Spicy in flavor, topped with a cabbage slaw that really compliments the spicy flavor of the burger. Also, get an Espresso Martini here. Its one of the best in town (though a little expensive)

My wife and I just completed another exceptional New Years Eve dinner at the Spiced Pear. Cole was our waiter and as always, provided us exceptional service. The food was magnificent throughout the five courses , and we couldnt be more pleased. We already booked reservations for Valentines Day, and we will be returning more frequently, as we have never been disappointed when dining there.

This restaurant is very good at what it does. It is a high end restaurant with a great view of second beach. The food always has a twist and is something that I could never make at home. The dinning staff is very well trained, table clothes are high quality cloth, nice everything. If you are looking to make a statement with your choice of a restaurant this is a good place to go.

Had craving for a burger & when I googled for the best Burger Joint in Newport, RI we found this place. GQ listed it as the #3 Best Burger in the United States. Though a little pricy, it was indeed a GREAT BURGER! We enjoyed the Mansion & upscale service for lunch. And though we were in jeans & tennis shoes, we were still treated well! HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!

Beautiful atmosphere, attentive service and great food! My favorite was the watermelon salad. I would definitely recommend this for a romantic dinner. The grounds are also so pretty, looking over the cliff walk and so close to the beach. The next time I come to Newport, I am going to stay here, at the Chanler.

Exquisite views, superb food on the terrace. We had our daughters with us (4 and 6) who loved looking at the gorgeous flowers in the garden. Hotel looks fantastic but a little rich for our wallet so we will return for lunch again!

Absolutely exquisite! This is the BEST, and most romantic restaurant my husband and I have ever dined at! Excellent service, amazing view, over the top cuisine cooked to perfection, and memories that will last a lifetime

I would advise that you avoid this place. Grossly over rated. Service pathetic. Food tiny portions and it took forever to be served. Drink orders forgotten. They are wasting the beautiful location.

My wife and her girlfriend had lunch a week ago. They both had fish tacos and both got food poisoning. After calling the restaurant they said they were busy and would call back. No call back yet.

Best fried scallops I have ever had the pleasure of eating. Went back for a second helping in a five day visit. An absolute must.
