I hired Providence to make our wedding cake as I had heard many wonderful things about the bakery. Boy, was I mistaken. The day before the wedding, my husband picked up the cake and sent me a photo. My jaw dropped with what the picture revealed. I ordered a round cake with fondant icing and a pearl border. The picture revealed a square cake with regular icing and extremely large (gum-ball size) pearls. I immediately called the bakery and asked to speak to the manager. According to the associate, the manager was busy. I explained my concerns to the associate who then put me on hold for 10 minutes while she relayed my message to the manager. Even after that, the manager was still "unavailable" to speak with me. I asked the associate what they could do to make this right as my wedding was less than 24 hours away at that point. The associate explained that they did not have enough time to make another cake. By this time, I was furious. Providences only rebuttal was that the color of the cake and the flavor were correct and that was the best that they could do. When I explained that wasnt good enough, the associate placed me on hold again. She then came back and said that the manager would give me $15 dollars off of my next purchase for their mistake. My blood was boiling! As many of you know, $15 does not go far at this bakery. You might be lucky to get a cupcake out of the deal. So essentially, the manager/owner never took responsibility for their mistake and ruined my wedding cake. Providence took no ownership in this whole ordeal. Now, I understand mistakes are made but as a customer, I expected them to make it right and they did not. I told the associate I would inform all of my friends as well as write this review to inform customers/future customers to beware. The "icing on the cake" to this whole ordeal was that when I returned from my honeymoon, the manager left me a voicemail (I guess she was finally ready to speak to me) and offered me a refund for the cake. At that point, it was too late to make things right. I couldnt believe it had taken them over a week to think about what they had done and tried to patch things up. Typically I am not one to complain, but I could not believe my experience with them and wanted to share this with others.

The first time I ordered a cake here, it was a carrot cake for my girlfriends birthday. I had never been there before, but they seemed to have good reviews and their deserts looked delicious. The cake was really quite good, but way too much icing. Half of the cake when you cut into it was icing, which everybody we served it to ended up leaving huge heaps on their plates. The 2nd time I went back was for my birthday and I wanted to order a simple cinnamon apple swirl cake with whipped cream icing. I was told by the associate that they had a similar cake in their pre-selected list, but it had fondant icing and did not have a cinnamon swirl. They were so rigid that they would not even change the icing to something lighter than fondant, which looks and tastes like wax or plastic. Knowing that the last cake had way too much icing on it, I asked if they could put way less icing on it than usual. I shouldve just left and found another baker who would give me what I want for the price we paid. They once again put so much icing on the cake that most of our guests ended up scraping it off on their plates and the fondant icing tastes like sugary wax. Needless to say, I wont be going back. The owner did not even have the decency to come out and talk to us after the associate at the front went back to the kitchen 2-3x. They did not allow the cake to be customized at all, basically told us this is what we have and we dont change for anyone. Even when I asked for very light on the icing, the owner just did whatever the hell she pleased and layered on the icing like before.

I called and ordered a "smash cake" for a 1st birthday photo session with these tips for designing: boy, duck theme (NOT bath themed), colors are bright blue and yellow, dots around the outside, and "1" can be placed somewhere on it. Here is what I got: A TEAL plain cake with a tiny rubber duck on the top HUGE white BUBBLE GUM BALLS along the bottom and was charged $20 - when I was told $10 on the phone. Who in their right mind puts GUM BALLS on a 1 year olds cake?!? How completely mind-less can you be!! I was planning on getting his 2 tiered birthday cake from there but definitely not now!

Let me start off by saying that any cake made outside of my family is usually a hard sell - but Providences cakes are AMAZING by anyones standards. Providence always has cakes that are moist, fresh, creamy, and able to accomodate most requests. Only downside is that they dont sell cakes by the slice - for that you have to go to the bistro a few shops away in Tollgate Village. Highly recommended! They do special orders, weddings, and everyday cakes.

Absolutely the BEST cake weve ever had, hands down, world wide!! Gorgeous design! Many elements to chose from. Excelent service and delivery! Just thrilled with everything from start to finish. Cant recommend anyone more! All of our wedding guests were amazed at how delicious and we made sure to order extra to please everyone who wanted seconds, thirds..and take homes! Thank you Providence and staff for making our cake special and unique!

Picked up the cake yesterday, a 6" square cake. Was a little sloppy. But my main complaint was they dont accept credit cards and I paid 40.00 cash for it. No receipt, no cash register ran up....on my way home I called my daughter and she said it was suppose to be 35.00! I called and she said "she must have misread the ticket"...35? to 40.00?....I drove the way back for my 5.00! I just didnt trust the bakery....I wont be back.

Providence is really a great lady but sadly her cake was not what we discussed. It looked nothing like the picture we gave her. If you plan on using her just make sure she knows exactly what you want. On the other hand it must have tasted wonderful. I actually didnt get any besides the little piece from the cake cutting, Our guests ate the whole thing!!

We had our wedding cake made by Providence about 8 years ago and I was so pleased with it and our guests loved it. But now the cakes at her bakery are even more amazing--truly the best cakes I have ever had. The flavor combinations are unique and they are so many to choose from. I dont live in York anymore but I will come back to get my cakes from her.

The portion size of their bakery items leaves a little to be desire, but the quality is undeniable. Their raspberry macron was one of the most delicious little treats I have ever tasted! And the rest of the macrons were levels above any other Ive had. Wish I lived closer so I could indulge more often.
