BUYER BEWARE!!!This is my experience I had with Whimsy Cakes. I ordered a cake and three dozen cupcakes. These desserts were for my mothers 60th birthday party. I paid upfront and we went through the design of the cake and the flavors of the cupcakes. I frequently checked in to make sure all was well and everything would be ready. I was reassured by Taneka the everything would be ready for pickup that day. The week of the party I called more than once to 1. To find out when I could come pick the cake up and 2. How to store the cake since the party did not start till 7pm. After calling on Monday, Tuesday, leaving a message on Thursday I finally spoke to her on Friday (Strike 1). She apologized for just getting back to me, but wasnt able to answer what was the best time till Saturday morning. On Saturday I received a message at 8:01am letting me know that I could pick the Cake and cupcakes up at 3:00pm. In the same message I asked how to store that cake because once again I explained that the party was not starting till 7pm. I assumed Taneka was being generous when she said that she would drop the cake off because it was only a few blocks away from another drop off. We agreed that she would drop the cake off at 6pm. I gave her the location information and I thought everything was going to be awesome. Fast forward to 6:50pm the cake nor cupcakes have not arrived. I am frantically calling the bakery and Tanekas cell phone to figure out what is happening. I got a message explaining that the setup for the previous delivery was going longer than expected but she would be on way. At 7:45pm I got a message saying that the cake was damaged and she was going back to the fix it at the Bakery. At 8:37pm I how soon will the cake and cupcakes would arrive. At 9:00pm we finally spoke to Taneka and asked what could she bring so that we would have a desserts for the party, or could she at least bring the cupcakes to the partys. She could not provide us with an answer. At 10:05pm (3hours later) I received an text letting me know that she was at the backdoor. When she brought the cake in it was nothing like the cake we asked for. There was no explanation for the cake, and when we asked where the cupcakes were we received a blank stare and she left out the building. At 10:55pm ( 5 minutes before the party is over) she walked in with half of the order of cupcakes we requested. I was so upset and hurt and could not believe the level of unprofessionalism I was witnessing. After the party was over and the cleanup was done we received an text letting us know how sorry she was and that she would give us a full refund. It has now been three weeks and I have still not received a refund. I will never use her services again. Nor will I every recommend this bakery to anyone I know.

This is the worst customer service ever!!!! I went to the bakery and wanted to use my groupon. Looking at all the other mostly negative reviews I called ahead to make sure they would be open. They were open but had only a few flavor available when I arrived about 3 to be exact. None that I wanted to try. I called an spoke to the owner/manager very unprofessional, but promised to give me a whimsical experience. The manager argue back and forth and shift her inability to run a business as my fault, minimizing my experience. The menu had at least 20 flavors or more. Thats like going to Baskins Robins with 31 flavors of ice cream and get there and they are out of every flavor save 3. That will never happen!! I gave her my groupon number and she promise to over night me some cupcakes by mail. I never got the cupcakes and I attempted several times to call her back but no response. I am still waiting......I will never go back. Please dont waste your money or time going there. The person that waiting on me look to be 12 or 13 years old she was the only sweet thing there. She did what I expected a minor to do. Never got product. I waited a coupled weeks before I posted this just to give the benefit of the doubt. The business does not deserve one star but you cant post zero.

Ive been to this store twice and they never have but a few cupcake flavors ready. They will tell you they are not technically opened at 11:45 but their door and Facebook page say they are open at 11. The cupcakes I have tried (almost all of them) are fairly ordinary with the toppings on the frosting being what separates them. A few are filled but most are not, even though they call them gourmet. I have had better at the church bake sale for $.50 not $2.50. Strawberry lemonade taste like boxed strawberry cake made with lemonade instead of water, the classic chocolate was very dry and boring. The only flavor worthy of being called Gourmet is the Banana Pudding. I was really hoping for some gourmet cupcakes in this area that I could just stop and pickup instead of order but even if you order these I dont think they would be any better. This place is very disappointing both in organization and cupcakes. I will not be returning.

I found the experience to be overall excellent. Yes, I agree with a reviewer about the cake not being ready as stated. However, It turned out fine. I just adjusted my schedule due to a number of reasons. I also want to say even though this is business not personal, new businesses deserve a little more patience. Yes, they are in it to make money, I get it. However, resources are needed to get them where they want to be. What I found out that Taneka will offer the best customer and do her very best. The cake was awesome and it was delicious. My daughter which this post is under (dont know how that happened) loved it and it was delicious. I dont know where someone got the box cake thing from. I guess my palette didnt pick that up because that was not what we tasted. Guest raved over it and asked for her number. I would definitely go back again, again, again. I will post a pic. Jan. 6, 2017 was when I picked my cake up.

I am a cupcake fanatic. I was so so happy when Whimsy opened up its doors, and when I found I it was owned by a sista, I was even more thrilled. However, the store is hardly ever open and several times when they were open; I was asked to come back because nothing was ready. The cupcakes are over priced however the Banana Pudding is the best. The service is good and friendly but Whimsy needs more than just a friendly staff. I have driven past the store several times this week and they were closed. Read a previous review and Sugarbakers does not cut the cake either. I am looking for a good community bakery, with fresh delicious cupcakes, Is anyone out there.......So hard to find good business nowadays.

I have been by this business twice during its posted open hours, and it has not been open either time. When we went by today (Saturday), it was not open even though it should have been open for more than 2 hours. Someone was inside who told me they were closed. I asked when they would be open to honor their Groupon. Response: "I dont know." I am requesting a refund of my Groupon and will not bother going by again. Just go to Sugarbakers who always has high quality products.
