3 stars, down from 5. I stopped in to order takeout. Just as I started to speak the phone rang and I told her to take that call since I wasnt in any hurry. All good deeds go punished. After she hangs up I tell her my order. She rings it up and its nearly $40. I questioned her about something that should have cost around $19, since I have ordered the same in the past. She realizes that she combined the phone order and mine and then rung me up for the correct amount. No biggie, we all make mistakes. She then tries to explain to someone in the back how to correct the order, since the entire thing is printed out on one slip. She draws lines through some items, circles others, etc. After a while my order was ready, so I drove home, about 12 minutes away. When I got home, as I pulled out my order, I realized that it was about 1/2 correct. I immediately called back and whoever answered KNEW that I had the wrong item. Still, we all make mistakes. What WAS wrong was that they offered nothing else but for ME to drive back there and pick up the correct item. They said I could keep the wrong order too, but that dish sucked (IMO). So now I had to drive all the way back, pick up the correct order, and drive back while some of the "correct" items back home were getting cold. This incident, plus an incident with them not honoring a coupon a few weeks ago have caused them to drop down low on my ratings list. To top it all off, the item I originally ordered, AND had to go back for, just wasnt of the usual quality. Shame on you, Number 1. Step up your game because previously you really knocked it out of the park.

Im lucky to live just down the road from No. 1 and I absolutely love this place. It seems like many Chinese restaurants in Berks have really cheap, chewy meat, but No. 1 has always gotten it right for me. I usually order chicken dishes and they prepare it better than any other Chinese restaurant has. They dont skimp on quality, selection, and service. To top it off they even waited to close the restaurant one night until I picked up my food because I confused their hours. They speak English very well so your order will not be "lost in translation." Also, they are more than happy to accommodate you if you want to customize your choices a little bit (take out ingredients, put other ones in, whatever you want). The vegetables in the leftovers I had from last night are still crispy even after being microwaved, and Im enjoying them right now. Ill be a loyal customer for a long time. Thank you, No.1!

A simple but very clean place, good food and great service. We order from Number 1 almost every month. After so many years, we really have nothing to complain but appreciate their fantastic cooking. Not only because I personally know the owner which is a very nice guy, also because our family really do like the fried rice they make, its so good, much better than any other places around. I always buy sweet and sour chicken as a treat to make my wife happy. Thank you Number 1, nice job as always, keep up.

Even though this restaurant is 30 minutes from where I live, and there are several other Chinese restaurants near my house, I always go to these guys when I get the urge from some good Chinese food. Specially their boneless BBQ Spare Ribs. When I was little my parents used to grocery shop at the Redners next door and Ive been enjoying their Chinese food ever since for the last 15 years. In fact, Im about to phone in an order from them right now, thats why Im here getting their number.

My wife and I live in Birdsboro and we drive all the way to Kenhorst for their food cause they are the closest place that sells General Tsos Tofu. Its SO good. My wife is a vegetarian but I am not, and I still love it. If youre looking for something slightly healthier then the Chicken(although its still breaded and deep fried, so lets face it, its not that much healthier), I would HIGHLY recommend it.

I live only half a mile from here and they said theyll only delivery for 23 dollars or more. I call bull shark on that. i would recommend Rice King, they deliver for less, is cheaper, and is way more taster than that rug on rice they call food. Also, Rice King adds more food to the plate than No.1 Chinese by 20%.I just want to save you the trouble,time,money, and effort that you dont need to waste.

I love eating here ! the owner one of the nicest people , right when I walk in he greets me and makes me feel welcome , I live one block away from Great Wall and I hate it I always wait to go to no. 1 tried the chicken and broccoli at Great Wall and it does not compare nothing to no.1 .. I highly recommend to go to no.1 than any other place ..... BEST CHINESE PLACE EVER!

I live all the way in Mt. Penn and I will drive all the way over there just to get their food! One of the best places Ive ever eaten at. The service is so friendly and the food is just amazing. A little more pricey than other places but Id rather pay the extra money and drive the 20 minutes to get it. Keep up the good work! The general Tsos is the best.

Ordered kung pao chicken. Chicken was delicious but the most important fact I swear by in any chinese food the sauce is the boss can elevate mediocre food to outstanding this sauce was amazing spicy flavorful definitely worth trying for somebody whom never tried kung pao chicken I will return again and again....

Eating at this restaurant since I was a little kid, as far as memory can recall, food is awesome also the people. Sometime they get really busy, but waiting is worth for their food which has the best quality around. Like their GeneralTso Chicken the most, cant go without it for every chinese meal.

Best Chinese food in the area. They catered my wedding and did an amazing job. Van is one of the most kind and helpful guys I know. Of course, you may not like every food item on the menu, but you cant beat the service and the care the restaurant has for its customers.

Granted I havent eaten there in years for a reason. They sold me spoiled pork and just made excuses that their refrigerator was on its way out. They offered nothing in return or refund. Whether that was the case or not, they should have handled it better.

We patron this place usually once a week. Never had a bad experience. Food is always hot and fresh! They give you generous size portions, too. Very clean facility. Friendly staff. My favorite Chinese food, ever!

This place is absolute CRAP. They always screw up my orders and their food isnt great. Id rather order from just about any Chinese food place in the tri-county area than this one.
