This has been by far the worst experience at a restaurant I have ever had. Me and my three friends visited the Rose Tea Cafe a few days ago to order bubble tea. We sat down and gave the waitress our orders — each of us had gotten a bubble tea — to which the waitress questioned, “Just bubble tea?” and we said yes that was all. An older female waitress brought us our drinks but rudely told us that normally we’re not allowed to just get bubble tea and if we did then we had to get it to go we couldn’t sit down. We’re a little flustered because she brought the drinks out in mugs so how could we leave now anyway? And also why hadn’t the other waitress told us from the start that we weren’t allowed to order only bubble tea? After finishing out tea the waitress gives us the check which is totaled all together. We get up to pay and I ask the older waitress if we can pay for these separately because some of us had cash and some had cards. We were ordered to sit back down at the table and she came over to tell us that no we could not pay it separately and could not pay with cards so luckily one of my friends pulled out a twenty and paid for all of us. Why hadn’t the waitress told us when we first ordered the tea that she couldn’t put them on separate bills or let us pay separately? By this time we’re ready to head out of the Rose Tea Cafe after the ridiculous service we had been receiving but before we can go the older waitress once again visits us at our table and starts to explain to us as though we had never been to a restaurant before that this is a “service” restaurant and so we should leave a tip. We’re in complete shock that after being harassed about our order and our method of payment we’re now being asked to leave a tip, which we weren’t planning on doing at all. After that, the younger waitress comes up to us and says, “You don’t have to leave a tip, but next time just get the drinks and go.” They stare us down us as we leave a one dollar tip. Needless to say, none of us will ever be visiting that restaurant again and I would suggest that anyone who reads this doesn’t go either. The entire time we were treated with disrespect and hostility.

Heres my dinner last night at Rose Tea Cafe in Squirrel Hill: My fork had some kind of taiwanese food scum on it when it was placed on the table. When I brought it to the waiters attention he looked at me with annoyance, grabbed the fork and ran back to the kitchen without a word. I proceed to take out my chop sticks, which looked like theyve been demolished by termites. Literally--splintered beyond belief. Can I get a frickin utensil in this place? They ask us to move tables to accomdate a party of 4 (were only 3) we do it despite the rocky start. No "Thank You." We order appetizers. Waiter checks on us 4 times to get our meal order but were not ready (Pushy McPusherson). 30 minutes later...still no appetizers. We order dinner. A group of Asian patrons that took our larger table gets served dinner before we get appetizers. WTF? Dinner comes. We ask about the appetizers. Ooops...they forgot. Waiter scurries back to put in our order. LATE. We eat dinner. Drinks are unfilled. Waiter is rude. As were sitting and talking after eating the waiter hurls the check in front of us. Rushing (Pushy McPusherson). We pay and then continue talking. The waiter comes up to us and says that he needs our table now for other customers. Were shocked. We look at each other incredulously. Grab the measly tip we were "generously" going to leave--leaving only a few coins left on the table. We walk out in disbelief. The rude waiter chases us down and informs us "you didnt leave any tip." We explain the obvious and walk out. With explosive anger, and distinct teenage angst, he THROWS the COINS at US!!!! This is not an exaggeration. We got chased out the door with metal flying at our backs. They should change the name to the house of the flying metal. Rose Tea Cafe.. Fail. Do not eat there. If you do, bring body armor. Unbelievable. Pros: Food is good, portions are large Cons: Rude, Violent, dangerous, poor service

Rude consumer service. Saw a sign for bubble tea and decided to drop in. The lady who took my order was very rude. After she took my order for bubble tea and already made the drinks she told me that I have to pay cash only. Than I ask her I didnt see a sign for that, and just when I was saying that another person came up and pay with a debit card. So then she decided to make an excuse saying "oh only for drinks, you must pay for cash." Well there is so such sign informing me this but I though well maybe it was just a misunderstanding. So I paid her in cash and than she open her mouth and said " You have cash it is easy to pay in cash, so why complain." Wow I was ready to leave at that point but my son already start drinking the bubble tea. I told her it may be easy for her so she doesnt have to claim it on her tax. I am sure this business does this so they do not have to claim extra money on their tax return. Anyways the drink was not that good and would definitely not go back or recommend to anyone. Rude consumer service and nasty bubble tea.

Early this evening, I created an order on-line and paid with a credit card. The order was to serve dinner to a family of 5. The computer said the mean order would be delivered by 6:20 PM. When it hadnt arrived by 6:55 PM, I called the restaurant. They had no reason for it being late, and in fact said the driver could not find the address. It was still daylight, the house number is plainly visible, and the porch-light was on to attract the drivers attention. The street we are on intersects with a main street in our area of the city. The person on the phone said, "Hell be right there." We waited and waited. We called again, and again, with the same, "He is there in the neighborhood. It will be only a few minutes." Now the food was already 40 minutes late when I called the first time. One of us was even waiting outside on the sidewalk, in case the driver was lost and would ask for directions. No one came. Not until well after 7:45 PM. For a dinner order promised for 6:20. I am very dissatisfied.

15-06-2013 Seven of us came to this place at 9pm, after base ball match between Pittsburgh and LA from PNC Park. 1.There is only one place where 7 people can be seated. We sat there. Needed one more chair to put our bags and stuff. Then one of us moved a chair from a nearby table(no guests at that table). Then the older waitress told us we cannot move the chair, as "more guests are coming in". Fact: it is 9pm already, and only less then 6 guests were there. The whole room could accomodate more than 30. 2.We almost finish eating when the young waitress(guess a student here) came and asked us " whether we finished?" and gave us the bill. Fact: Rose Tea is the first restaurant during our short-stay in US, when the waitress acutally chased the guests out. Unbelievable. Judge yourself for the service.
