Ramen Bar in Squirrel Hill is a clean space on Forbes Avenue. While the restaurant is neat, you will most likely leave covered in soup — that happens when eating with chopsticks and a ladle. Needless to say, don’t go here on a first date or on a business meeting, unless you happen to look really good slurping up noodles. (I do not.) You are also going to get a huge helping of soup, no matter which dish you choose, either from the basic or specialty list. I ordered the Wonton-Men with the Shoyu base (the original soup base) and fried garlic. The Wonton-Men included a solid number of pork dumplings (which I efficiently speared with the chopsticks) and bamboo shoots. My dining partner ordered off of the specialty list: Curry Ramen. Good stuff. Not my fave? The starter of Chicken Karage. Deep-fried chicken, which was mostly dark meat. Just not my jam. But no worries. The soup was great and perfect for a cold evening out.

Based on other positive reviews and being fond of other Ramen restaurants in Phila and New York, must admit... very disappointed. Visited on a busy Friday night. Ordered Pork Gzoya which were very tasty, but that was about the only positive. Waited and waited forever for our ramen orders, after some time, the waiter gave us our bill and said Thank you for coming.... We replied that we never got our orders, No apologies, just some type of grumbling that someone else said...... couldnt hear since he walked away. Finally our ramen orders, Shoyu soup had a strong pork base, greasy and lacked the soy flavoring that expected. Tan Tan Ramen was overly spicy. Asked for water refills (again very spicy) and forgotten again. Ramen noodles for both orders were way overcooked. Very disappointed, never again!!!

Really enjoy this restaurant! Great ramen with optional add more ingredients. Fried garlic is a must add. I like the wanton men ramen, both shoyu and miso base are good. The tan tan men ramen is a rich and delicious sesame broth with ground beef and spinach. Excellent with add tofu, corn, and mushrooms. Pro tip from our server last time: you can ask for the tan tan broth (or i imagine any broth like curry or ajo/garlic!) With a vegitarian bowl! So good! Very large portion so its perfect to split or wonderfully indulgent for one :) Lots to rave about. They have gluten free noodles. Bamboo shoots are worth adding if not already there. Apps are nice too. Good service, pleasant atmosphere, adaptable menu, byob. You better try it if you havent!

If you want a more authentic Japanese ramen experience than this, youll need to travel to either New York City or Japan—and honestly, youll be hard-pressed to top this place even in New York City. This isnt fine dining (ramen bars arent intended to be), but the decor is pleasing, the place is clean, and everything my fianceé and I have tried has been both good and authentic—down to the detail of serving Kewpie mayonnaise with the chicken karage. (She spent 5 years eating in ramen bars when she worked in Japan, so when she says this place is the real deal, shes not joking.) Just remember: ramen bars survive by turning tables quickly, so if theres a line, dont dawdle.

Ramen Bar is AMAZING! We drive all the way from WV to come eat here at least once a month. The food is absolutely amazing. Our favorites are the Tan Tan Men and the Ajo ramen. Smallish place, with a real ramen stand vibe. Staff is amazingly friendly, we always feel so special because the waiter remembers us. The menu is so affordable and you get large portions! The food really feels quality. While we are a young couple, we have seen family and children in there numerous times. The place is a bit tight, but theres a large bar in the back for big groups. Cannot recommend this place enough.

The food here is excellent and extremely reasonably priced, especially given the generous portions. The ability to customize your soup gives a completely personal experience. I personally recommend the Tan Tan Men, a spicy sesame broth that includes ground beef and spinach. Of course, with their extensive list of additions, thats just the start! For just a few extra dollars, adding broccoli, mushrooms, corn or a hard-boiled egg will compete your meal. Take out service is particularly speedy, with your order often being ready in less than 10 minutes even if you dont call ahead.

Absolutely excellent ramen and other authentic style Japanese options, with relatively low prices. Quick and professional service. Ive been several times and my food has always come out quickly and correctly, with the exception of once, when my ramen was made with the wrong broth. In that case, my order was quickly remade and I was eating the correct food within minutes. Fun, relaxed atmosphere with trendy pop music in the background and some modern art and photography on the walls. It has quickly become one of my favourite places for dinner.

This was the worst bowl of Ramen noodles I have had in a long time. The noodles were soft, eggs over cooked, presentation poor, chashu fatty, thick, and flavorless, and broth not at all spicy with no depth. It gets two stars because its really the only Ramen house in Pittsburgh and none of the staff were rude. I have attached a photo. This place has much to improve on.

Ramen Bar has some pretty good food. The scenery is nice and its pretty quick, usually only 5 or so minutes to get food. I cant say anything about how authentic the food is but Ive yet to have anything bad here. Only nitpick is that it seems a little expensive for what basically equates to noodle soup, is still on par with prices in the area.

I love this place. On a cold evening, right qfter work, this place hits the spot. Im a fan of the Negi Ramen with spicy miso broth recently. When I wanna switch it up, I get curry rice with pork. Both are always delicious. The servers are really nice, you dont wait long for your food, either. Definitely highly recommended!

You should not expect an authentic Japanese ramen--the served dish was far from it. The taste was not so bad, which can be a candidate if you want to eat a sort of noodle. However, the staff was terribly bad; a staff was often clicking his tongue, which made me really uncomfortable. I couldnt be relaxed during eating.

Been to Ramen Bar a number of times and Ive never had a bad experience.. Service is friendly and the restaurant is cozy. Ive had the Raska Ramen and the Tan Tan Men and those two really stand out for me, although everything on the menu is good, served piping hot, and perfect for those cold, rainy days.

Every time my friends and I go there, the service is friendly and the food is delicious. Its made well, and they definitely give you enough ramen to fill you up. I also really like the atmosphere and that they play a variety of music. Sooooo good... Im definitely going to have to stop by again, soon.

Classic place to get Ramen in Pittsburgh. Really good food, and the quality is great every time. I usually get the Tan Tan Men with wontons, it is really good and really comforting on a cold day. Service is great and the prices are fair (7-12$ for a bowl of ramen depending on what you put in it)

One of my favorite places to eat. Good food and service for a great price. You will not leave here hungry! The ajo ramen is the best but the ramen ramen is exactly like I had at a ramen shop in Hawaii. Delish! I highly recommend for anyone looking for a great filling meal that will warm you up.
