First of all: I AM French. Ive been told there is a French restaurant close to our office in Pittsburgh. I got to test it! The menu looks serious. The wine selection is a bit disappointing though. The waiters speak French, although mine is not a native, she has only learnt it at school. I wished French schools were as good for teaching foreign languages! The music at the beginning was almost comic to me: accordion! This is NOT the typical French music. It was probably during the first half is the 20th century. Its music for tourists, and you will hear it only in touristic places. Then there was Foule Sentimentale from Alain Souchon, which is much more typical :-). I was about to take the Plateau Campagnard (in order to check the cheese, cured meats and the housemade pâté) followed by the Magret de Canard when a plate passed in front of me and caught my attention. This looked delicious but reminded me nothing of the French cuisine. I asked what it was: Salade Nicoise! In France the Salade Nicoise is far from being fancy and I personally think of it more as an easy-to-prepare salad when youre on vacation with friends and you dont want to spend too much time preparing lunch. Anyway, the pâté (please note they got the accents correct, but I noticed a mistake on the Salade PérigoUrdine ;-) anyway...) was the best of the plate, and according to the menu its homemade. The Rosette de Lyon was so so as the other "saucisson" with pepper. The cheesea contained Roquefort (Papillon, which is one of the best I think), petit basque and some Chaume. I appreciated them. The bread was French baguette of course, it was OK or even good to be honest (please acknowledge that I dont eat French bread very often these days) but nothing compared to the good "baguette tradition" that make me so happy whenever I go back to France :-). The Salade Nicoise was good, but Im not an expert at all. I mean if one of my friends serves me this for lunch during vacation, Id be super happy :-). All in all, I think its a pretty descent French restaurant, especially considering were on the other side of an ocean. A bit expensive for the US though. I think it would be the same price in Paris roughly.

Went to Paris 66 for dinner with my wife and another couple. It was a disappointing experience. First the fish soup was bland. Our friend, who had had that soup there before, remarked that it was not as good as the last time.My wife and I then ordered mussels with french fries, a traditional dish that we both love when its good. Well, these were the worst mussels I ever had. I sometimes buy and prepare mussels at home and the result depends of course on the quality of the mussels that I can find (usually I get them at Whole Foods or Wholeys ) but it is always better than what was served at Paris 66. The mussels were dry, they stuck to the shells, the sauce was bland. I was concerned about their freshness.I tried to eat them but gave up. I sent them back to the kitchen and ordered a trout instead. The trout was OK, nothing more. Now the french fries. You would think that a French restaurant can do french fries well. But, no. These were overcooked and dry. I suggest that their cook goes to McDonald for training on the french fries. The service was nice. The wine was good. Finally, this place is overpriced.

Simply put, this was the place my fiance and I visited for a nice night out to unwind. We no longer live in Pittsburgh and miss this place dearly. I will say this though for people who expect the world, Paris 66 will not WOW you. Its not meant to be that type of place. Its comfortable, the food is good and interesting, the service and atmosphere promote good conversation and a feeling of closeness. The staff recognizes you after a few visits and genuinely seem to enjoy your return visits. The desserts here are what really stand out. The crepes are good but the desserts are fantastic. This is the perfect place to relax, de-stress, have a coffee or a drink, some light fare and a fantastic dessert to end (or begin) a nice night. My fiance and I were in Paris last year and this is the closest feeling youll get to being there in Pittsburgh.

Terrible!! Dont waste your money. First we were sat in a small table that was not level and asked to be moved. What a pain that was. My husband ordered a crown royal and diet coke and the (foreign) server never heard of it, so he said "whiskey". She brings him cheap whiskey and coke. It was awful. She then admitted they did not have crown royal! I asked to substitute the mashed potatoes with French fries and the chef said "no"! Really? The mashed potatoes were instant and then frozen and were absolutely terrible and uneatable. My lamb (a special) was overcooked and tough (Where is Chef Ramsey when you need him??) All in all, terrible service and terrible chef attitude and terrible food!!! Does Pittsburgh have a decent French Restaurant?? Years ago LeNormandie was absolutely wonderful.

My mom and I went here for lunch. We both got the savory crepes. The buckwheat idea is hopeful, but not that tasty. I got a swiss and ham crepe. The buckwheat, which Im familiar with, didnt quite match with the ham and cancelled out the taste of the cheese. My mom got the smoked salmon crepe. The salmon was cured and not smoked. This should have been noted on the menu. The salty salmon and creme fraiche didnt match with the buckwheat flavor at all. I really like the salad that came on the side. I would go there again and get a salad or sandwich. It was pretty good, not great.

While weve had better meals, rarely have we had any more enjoyable! There is an approach to the food and service that comes from first-hand knowledge of the source material, but its not presented as something secret or fancy...its just damn good food shared by people who enjoy sharing food! Our food was delicious and our server created a comfortable mood for enjoyment...highly recommended for those who love good food or those whove been intimidated by French restaurant stereotypes. Looking forward to visiting again when we return to Pittsburgh!

I paid $14 for 6 macaroons and the employee proceeded to put their hand in the case and take them out one at a time without gloves after handing me multiple menus. Disgusting!!! At that price I did taste them, and guess what, mediocre! This was yesterday morning, I did not show my disappointment as there was a second staff member watching them do it and they didnt say anything. So to me it seemed like standard protocol at this establishment.

This restaurant is what I imagine a bistro in France to be like. The decor is comfortable and the staff is friendly and caring. The food is very good and the menu offers a wide selection from a crepe with butter and sugar to a filet mignon with potato gratin and haricot vert. The roasted chicken, steak frites, and mussels are all very good here. I have been a number of times and enjoyed the food very much. Thanks

Absolutely wonderful restaurant! We have been here for our wedding anniversary for the past 3 years. The food, wine and service have always been exceptional. We have recently moved and were not able to go this year for our anniversary. We miss this gem and highly recommend Paris 66 Bistro for special occasions. It rivals some of the best restaurants I visited in Paris.
