I travel a lot for work and Marriott is our preferred hotel chain however Marriott should be embarrassed to have this hotel associated with their name. This hotel is old and outdated. They offer cold hard pretzels at check-in and randomly offer bottles of water. The check-in staff was nice and friendly, no complaints there. Elevators are slow and one guest complained and was taken up in the service elevator. My room smelled musty and damp. I decided to see what kind of view I had by pulling back the curtains, biggest mistake of my trip. Just at a quick glance I had at least 20 little spiders in my window and all over the curtains. And they were inside not outside, you could see the webs between the window and the curtain that they were crawling on. This made me fearful of where else spiders may be lurking in my room. After dinner, I stopped by the front desk and they sent someone up to clean up the window but all they did was take a towel and wipe the window down, I’m sure for the most part the spiders were still alive. I slept fully clothed on top of the blanket in fear of what was in the bed. The internet, although I was told at the front desk that it was free, they charged me $9.95 on my bill and it was useless, slower than slow. Don’t believe them if they tell you it’s free. The only reason I was at this hotel was because we were hosting a meeting here for our clients. We requested a podium prior to the meeting only to arrive to a room with no podium. We asked twice for one and it was never delivered. The room was supposed to fit 60, it barely fit 52, it was a very tight fit, so tight that some attendees were complaining. It was hot in the room because when they put up the screen for us to project on, the thermostat was behind the screen so it was not going to stay regulated. The first time I asked to have the room cooler I was told that experience has shown that when they make it cooler, an hour later everyone is complaining because it’s too cold so let’s just see what happens. Maintenance ended up coming in and changing the temp but because the thermostat was behind the screen, it was not going to cool off in there. Finally, one of my attendees had to solve the problem by stepping out into the hall, finding maintenance and asking them to take down the air wall between us and the room next to us. Luckily the other room was empty and they could quickly take down part of the wall which made a huge difference. Shortly after this, while our meeting was going on, maintenance started drilling into the wall right outside of our room. One of my attendees came out to yell at them but I was assured it was only going to be another minute or so and they were done. Lunch was a complete embarrassment, the kitchen couldnt accommodate our 52 attendees so they suggested setting up a deli buffet to offset the kitchen. At first they expected us to take it back into our cramped room to eat but they allowed us to eat in the Sanctuary and charged $15.00 for the buffet ($4.40 for gratuity, what a joke). And for those that took the chance to eat at Dorsey’s, they were waited on by a frazzled staff and had to wait for their food and some were late to our meeting when it started at 1:00. The hotel should have been more prepared, they knew that they had a meeting with 52 attendees, more wait staff and kitchen staff should have been provided and if we were to pre-order from a small selection of items, they wouldn’t have been so frazzled and unorganized. I would not recommend this hotel.

We had our daughters pre wedding event here in May 2013.....Let me say the management here is not to be trusted...they promise you anything and everything and deliver nothing! There are so many things they messed up, that I cant begin to detail all of them. We had booked this hotel well in advance, and had reserved several rooms for our bridal party. They screwed up the reservations, and many guests were made to wait for their rooms. Incredibly, even my daughter ( the bride) did not have her room available and had to wait for an hour and half to get it! We had welcome bags for our guests that were not delivered. The sound system in the ballroom did not work properly, even though we had visited the place several times and made several requests to Stephanie Shivers, the Sales Manager, to make sure that the sound technicians knew what equipment we were using.. I cannot count the number of times I asked her questions about the sound system etc..But at the event, the sound quality was very poor and some of our friends had to hustle and try to fix the system! To top it all, the Event Manager said he had no idea we would be using the sound system (after our event!) We had asked for breakfast vouchers to be given to the guests (well before the event) so our guests could eat before departing. The hotel staff never collected the breakfast vouchers in the hotels restaurant, so they had no count of the number of guests. They ended up overcharging me for the breakfast! However, I had a count of how many actually ate there, so I was able to reduce the amount they charged! Also, the air conditioning system in several rooms did not work properly. We had asked for a mini fridge in our room, again well in advance, but ofcourse there was not fridge when we checked in. They later on brought in a fridge, after I questioned them. The hotel manager actually blamed all the shortcomings on another manager! This staff is incompetent, and the sales manager is very inexperienced...time and again I had to intervene to make sure the guests bookings were charged correctly! It was a really bad experience to go thru this before your daughters wedding! I will not recommend this hotel to anyone to host an event. It may be alright for a one night stay, but other than that, stay away from this hotel!

We are a family of four, two children 8 and 5, upon arriving at the hotel, we were very impressed with how clean and well decorated the hotel lobby was. We passed by the ballroom which sounded like a night club was going on, but payed no mind to it, thinking we would not be bothered once we got to the room. What we really should have done, was turned right back around and went to another hotel. This hotel has a huge atrium that runs in the middle of it, which is pleasing to the eye, but AWFUL for a good nights rest. We could here EVERYTHING! We later realized it was a prom that was going on down stairs, we were not informed of this the week prior to me calling and making sure we could get a double bed room, or when we arrived at the hotel. We get to the room on the fourth floor, and it was a huge let down. Very outdated, musty smell. Clean sheets, and pretty comfortable bed, if you could fall asleep with all of the ruckus. We asked for two extra towels since the bathroom was only stocked with two, and never received them from housekeeping. My husband had to go back down stairs an hour or so later to get them. The rooms do not come with refrigerators, the vending machine took our money when we tried to get water, they did give my husband two waters down in the lobby after my husband notified them though. My husband is a Marriott rewards member and we did not receive free wifi. I think our biggest complaint was just the noise. We could have looked past all of the rest, but day two of no sleep and we were pretty fed up with everything. I could here the people in the room next to us having an entire conversation and dropping f bombs. The walls are super thin, and because of the atrium style layout the sound travels all the way up. It was an awful stay. We did not get to check out the pool, since we were touring the city and visiting family, but I do NOT advise staying here, and if you must bring some earplugs you can sleep with.
