Ive known Mugshots for a long, long time. It has gone through a lot of changes over the years but thats partly why I love them so much. They always seem to be trying to be more than just a coffeeshop. But regarding their homemade, high quality, often organic, mostly "bad ingredient" free (like high fructose, GMO, preservative loaded etc.)food, its always delicious! I am a regular there so of course Ive the occasional miss but guess what .. not a 5 star restaurant in the city nails every plate. And their coffee program is outstanding! They offer a wide array of not just brewing methods and espresso drinks but their beans are sourced from Counter Culture, Philly Fair Trade and now apparently one of their baristas is roasting his own blends for sale. And pertaining to what I had mentioned before .. being a founding B-Corper, using compostable plates and cutlery, being regular food sponsors to organizations like WHYY and supporting programs like Urbanstead ... I know, I KNOOWWW I am sounding like a commercial but seriously Im just tired of people ragging on this place. They are not a restaurant, they are not a chain and yet they put to shame many places with much bigger resources who claim to be "conscientiousness businesses". Its easy to do the right thing when the road has been paved but these guys do it no matter what. And to me, that is simply rad! Theyll always have my patience and understanding but sincerely, I never need it. I find the vast majority of my visits to be exactly what I want every time.

Very poor customer service and their main kitchen tool is a microwave. Woman who works at counter is extremely unhappy and curt along with the rest of the staff (except the man who serves coffee who is extremely nice). My sandwich (I ordered the Bonnie and Clyde) took 20 minutes to make, which is a while since behind the kitchen I saw the cook put the chicken in a microwave, And then take 10 minutes to do the complicated task of putting the the chicken on a sandwich with a piece of cheese and place it All the way in the toaster. The time in between was used to compare different Tea flavor names with a coworker while they glanced over at me waiting without a care in the world. I work in the area all the time and its a shame that the place turned out to be not only overpriced ($13 for a microwaved half cold sandwich and medium ice coffee) but slow and poor experience.

I like it. I love it. I want some more of it. It was a slate grey sky on a pluit perfect Thursday afternoon. The thunderstorm was washing away the sins of a city, and I was staining my veneers with a wee thimble of steaming hot Columbian nectar. A wee pixie served it with a scrumptious side of je ne sais quoi, and I dug her certain quelque chose. And then, the vestibule shuddered like a thousand vicars, and in sauntered the owner, ten feet tall and bulletproof. She had heels that could steel a thousand skyscrapers, and a decolletage like an Egyptian mirage. "You might try my chicken," she cooed, "but I can toss a mean salad. Lemme put it this way, honey...I... kale alot about my customers." And Ive been eating at Mugshots ever since.

I have never not been extremely frustrated by the slow, inept service here. Its really unfortunate because the concept of this place (atmosphere, menu, mission, etc.) is fantastic. They just cant seem to pull it together (even after several years of being in business) enough to give timely/quality service. The register operators are extremely slow, there are too many people in the kitchen doing too little work, the people making food have very limited skill sets, etc. I wish so badly they could get this aspect of their restaurant together...makes me want to open my own coffee shop - the business is certainly there!

Called in asking if there were any specials and the worker told me no. Ordered a salad and he told me they were unable to put the dressing on the side because its pre-made, which made me skeptical, but ordered anyway. Went to pick it up and there was an entire board of daily specials on the wall and the salad tasted like it had no dressing on it, the kale was salty, no flavor to the chicken and was the size of a side salad (for over $10!); I basically tossed it. Ive never had a bad experience at Mugshots, but Ill never order a salad from there again.

The food was fine, and the atmosphere at Mugshots is cool, but the service was just ridiculously terrible. Not only were a couple members of the staff cranky and rude, but when my order was lost for 45 minutes, I was asked to just wait 15 minutes cause were super busy. Were I ordering a souffle, whatever, but a vegan BLT wrap should not take an hour to make, especially when the cafe is half empty. A kind person rescued my order and apologized, but a couple of the workers need to learn to exercise basic decency.

Great local spot with a good selection of food and drink. They take pride in the quality of their food and it shows. Spacious and well decorated interior; grab a seat, order a drink, and enjoy. Be wary as it can get pretty busy, but the staff are always quick and friendly. Oh, and try the baconator for breakfast - youll thank me later.

Stopped in quickly on a daytrip to Philadelphia with a bunch of friends and ended up leaving with Counter Culture pound bags, mugs, and t-shirts. We love this place and the cozy atmosphere was everything on a rainy and chilly day. The baristas were so friendly and patient, the coffee was spot-on, and we cant wait to come back!

Good food. Only rating them four stars because their selection of gluten free bagels and breads are always disappointing. I know that they dont make it there, but they really bring the quality of their food down. Other than that, the staff is always great and the food that they make, in-house, is great

Happy and friendly staffs that are passionate about their coffee, food and community. I love coming here to get specialty coffees, (try almond joy latte, or peppermint mocha, so much better than starbucks!) and talk with the baristas. One of my favorite cafes!

First thoughts you get when you walk in here. Hipster vibe. Dont let that deter you, the coffee here is fantastic. My favorite is the "mugshot". Cup of coffee with two shots of espresso. Very smooth and easy to drink black.

Theres a distinct lack of energy here, at least when I was there, that made this coffee house feel a bit tired. The drinks were ok, though I do appreciate that they feature organic coffee and have non-dairy milk options.

Its a decent coffee shop. I came here because I thought they served Counter Culture coffee. But alas they no longer do. The dark roast I had as fine, just not what I wanted at the time. The barista was nice.

I have been here a few things, usually by myself and try to get some work done on the weekend. Nice wifi and I really do like the option to have a smoothie over caffeine. Staff are quite friendly in general

I think they should use local Philadelphia roasters. There are many fine ones. The beans that they use, which are not great in my opinion, appear to be shipped in from some roaster in Wisconsin.
