The food was good. Spiced and portioned just they way I wanted. This place wasnt what I was expecting though. I was looking for a Korean BBQ place, the ones where you grill the raw meat they bring you on a platter. Slight disappointment. It was also a little difficult for our waitress to understand me, once she told me that they were out of an item I ordered and tried to make a correction. Those were my only two, very minor complaints. The price was great for the amount of food we got; three people were full and we took food home for under $61.00. I would definitely go back here for dinner.

Jong Ka Jib is the best korean restaurant in Philly. The informal environment allows you to focus on the food. Youll receive delicious kimchi which includes standards like: pickled cabbage, pickled ginger, pickled cucumbers, sweet soy beans, bean sprouts, and more! The soft tofu served here is not fussy and is focused on the delicious nature of the stew. I recommend the mushroom soft tofu because Jong Ka Jib always has a great selection of mushrooms. Aside from the soft tofu you cant go wrong with the menu. Give this unassuming place a try!

My friend and I went to celebrate her birthday at this place. I have never felt so unwelcome at a restaurant in my life. Did not know to ring a bell to place an order until an other dining guest informed us. When we finally did order, I had a soft tofu bowl that was supposed to have seafood in it. Instead it contained 3 heads-on shrimp. Period. My friend had a tasteless, rubbery dish of bbq squid. Once the food was served, there was no follow up. Will not be going back. Ever.

Ive been a regular Jong Ga Jib customer for many years until another soft tofu restaurant opened about a year ago. The food is always consistent and better than the competitors near by. Jong Ga Jib felt as though Im back home again. Please dont change anything. TIP: Korean diners dont like to be bothered after the food is served. So, when you are ready to order or need anything, use the small button on the table to page their wait staff. This is how restaurants in Korea operate.

Excellent for Korean food. If you want cook at you table Korean BBQ, look elsewhere. No cooking at the table is a plus for me. If you like soft tofu dishes, here is your place. Kimchi Soondubu Jjigae (Soft Tofu Stew) is a special delight. The wait staff is fast and efficient. The restaurant is immaculate and the food is prepared fast. If you do a little homework on Korean food before you go to Jong Ga Jib, it will enhance your experience.

The interior of this restaurant is designed to look like a Korean Village I guess you would call it or perhaps Detroit traditional Korean restaurants look like. Either way it makes her a a fun environment and the food is great. The even have a vegan menu which Ive never seen at a Korean restaurant. My one criticism is that the food tends to be on the salty side.

Hidden local gem for Korean food. The specialty is the soft tofu hot pots. The banchan is the typical with average kimchi. The restaurant is sparkling clean and the food is prepared fast. Newbies to Korean food may have some limited difficulties understanding how/what to order from the menu.

Service us fast and accurate. They can be a bit more attentive with regard to refilling our teacups. Food quality is consistent but at $20 for a serving of beef shirt ribs and $12 for tofu and mushroom soup, I think visits to eat here less frequently would be justified.

Delicious soft tofu, great prices, and an awesome medley of cold appetizers. I rarely look past the soft tofu menu, one serving per person is plenty and leaves me very full. If you do, the Korean pancake is also very good. Staff are no nonsense and service is quick.

Their food quality has gone down in recent years. The seafood pancake used to be crisped to perfection but the last time I went it was soggy and tasteless. The bbq grilled chicken was also bland and nothing to write home about. Service was okay as well.

Wow, what a great place. The decor and atmosphere are fantastic and photo-worthy. The prices were reasonable and food was fantastic! I brought my daughter here for her birthday (she loves Korean food and culture), and she loved it.

The main entree - Tofu caserole, was good, but their variety of condiments (thpical in Korean restaurants) were ridiculously poor. And wooden seats were horrendous. My butt is still aching from sitting on hard pine box boards...

Outstanding Korean food. Off street parking. You need to go a few times to get the routine. Its frequented mostly by Koreans from the neighborhood so you know Its genuine. If you like this kind of food, definitely try it.

Best place for authentic Korean soft Tofu soup. They do have BBQed beef ribs with hint of cinnamon. While they recently raised a price however it is still reasonable.
