Best Indian Food Around! My father, girlfriend and I visited the Spice Kitchen last night and I can tell you, hands down, this is the best Indian food any of us have been to, not only in Pennsylvania, but in the US. The restaurant is somewhat hidden away in a strip mall, I have driven past it many times, not realizing it was there. I am always dubious of strip mall restaurants but this place was a nice surprise. The decor was very nice, you could tell you were in an Indian restaurant but wasnt over the top or tacky. We came in around 7PM on a Wednesday and there were plenty of open tables. The service was great, we had a waitress at our table within a minute of being seated and she knew the menu well. As an added bonus, the servers come by with an ipad, they are able to show you pictures of the cuisine before ordering, customize the order (spice level: mild/medium/hot/indian hot) and submit the order to the kitchen straight from the tablet pc. We had three different servers at our table during the course of the meal to bring out food or fill up drinks and all of them were very enthusiastic about working there. The menu was pretty extensive, offering a dozen or so chicken dishes, half a dozen goat/lamb/seafood/vegetarian dishes as well as drinks (not alcoholic drinks, it is BYOB), appetizers and desserts. A plate of papadums were complementary along with a variety of homemade (and tasty!) sauces. Prices were reasonable, hovering between $12-17 dollars per dish with naan being an additional $2 purchase. Every dish we had was extremely flavorful, Indian spices can be very expensive, many restaurants hold back on certain spices to keep costs down, but you can tell this place is all about getting the taste right. The waitress informed us the executive chef uses recipes straight from his mother in India and you can tell, the food tastes very authentic. Portions werent huge, but a decent size for the price. We bought 4 dishes to share between the three of us but could have easily been satisfied with 3 dishes. They do have a lunch buffet, which looks outstanding and I cannot wait to try it. I dont usually write restaurant reviews and am absolutely in no way affiliated with this restaurant, but when somebody does something right they should be commended. I look forward to returning to this restaurant time and time again.

Very nicely done! This location has a chequered past, having been a Mexican restaurant (very good one!) for a few years, then the place was closed. Spice Kitchen opened 6 weeks ago and were fortunate to have them. (This is their Lansdale location.) We met friends there for dinner recently. We hadnt tried it before so this was sight unseen. The place isnt busy (yet) and we were warmly greeted by the staff. Its BYOB so we brought a nice little selection of wines to complement dinner. I had the Tawa fish, my wife had the Baigan Bharta, our friends had the Butter Chicken and Palek Paneer. We also had meat samosas for appetizers. Everything...EVERTHING was excellent. The portions arent large, but whats there is choice. The fish was nicely cooked, and the sauce was truly succulent. My wifes eggplant was done to perfection with the vegetables sauteed just right. The butter chicken was melt in your mouth perfect and the Palek, a very standard Indian dish, was outstanding. The staff is very attentive and helpful, its obvious they want this place to succeed. And so do we! This area has a plethora of pizza places, Chinese, etc. But diverse dining experiences are rare. The Spice Kitchen is well worth a visit. And the prices are reasonable. For the 4 of us, total tab, with tip, was $120.

The best Indian food around, hands down. We go there for the lunch buffet quite often and everyone in the group loves it. Weve tried three other places in the general area and none stack up to Spice Kitchen. They always have either Chicken Tikka Masala or Chicken Makhani (Butter Chicken) and then have a mix of other entrees, but theyve had a goat dish every time Ive been there as well if thats your thing. They bring fresh naan to your table at the lunch buffet; its not just stacked up at the buffet station sitting there for who knows how long. Waitstaff is attentive at lunch, although, the dinner (sit-down service) staff can be hit or miss. If you get the owner, he remembers what you had the last time you came , makes recommendations, and treats you very well. They always have a nice appetizer, entree, or dessert special. One appetizer special I fell in love with was the Tangy Eggplant. Its a ton of eggplant, so be sure a few people want to try it, and its absolutely fabulous. I wasnt sure about it at first, but once I had a few bites, I was hooked. Fortunately, I think its on the menu full time now. If you like good Indian food, you really need to try Spice Kitchen

WOW! This was some of the best Indian food Ive tasted. Ive been in the KoP area for 1 week with a co-worker. This is bar none the best meal weve had all week. We went for dinner. In particular, the tangy eggplant appetizer was incredible. Happy Grover, one of two people serving us, made excellent recommendations. This is also the only place around that will serve you actual spicy food if you ask for it! The service was excellent, the food was affordable, the place is clean, the atmosphere nice but not stuffy. What can I say, this is the only place Ill make a note of to come back to next time Im here. Only downside is that it is a BYOB joint like most places in the area. Coming from out of town on an expense account... However, with the great food, good tea and unique after dinner treats, we hardly missed the wine list.

I have been to Spice Kitchen many times...nearly a regular customer but these days, as it is gaining fame in the area its service and quality is getting degraded. Last time, when we went there we ordered appetizer and main course. they served appetizer well in time but as if they forgot that they have to serve main course. The orders taken after our table were served and we were waiting even after 60-70 minutes after appetizer was served. On repeatedly inquiring about our order, we got one item which was not worth eating. We immediately left the place without having dinner...the newly appointed female staff members hardly care about the customers...and even one of them was laughing when we were leaving the place. This is pathetic....Spoiled my whole evening....will never go again....

It was my first time at Spice Kitchen. What a wonderful place with excellent food and host. We had Diwali party here and the place was full packed with the people and still everything was great. Excellent quality of the food. We had tandoori chicken. When I saw it first time, I wasnt sure about its quality as the color was looking different. But after eating it, i couldnt stop thinking about it. It was my first time when I had such a wonderful tandoori chicken. After taking to the owner, I found that this place does not use food color in tandoori chicken and their focus is to prepare the healthy food. Thanks Spice Kitchen for doing such a good job. Keep it up. It is now my favorite restaurant for Indian food.
