I want to start this off on a good note. This use to be one of our favorite place to go as a family. Tonight our chef was great, and the food was amazing. Now for the reason we will not be going back. We had a large party, 15 people, so I called ahead and made arrangements for 7:00. We were taken to a party room at about 7:15, witch was not too bad. It was down hill from there. We waited about 20 min for the first person to come to our table. We ordered our drinks and food. After about 30 min, I went to see what was going on and was told that our drinks and salads were on there way out. About 10 min later checked again. I was told that there was a problem with the grill at our table, and that they were going to move our party to the main dining room. Shortly after moving, our drinks arrived...... Just over an hour after being seated. After waiting another 15 min or so, several people in our party were getting upset. It was shortly after that that I noticed that my daughter was crying...... She was upset because it was her birthday dinner and she asked to come here and now everyone was mad, and she blamed herself. That flipped my switch and I one again went in search of someone to talk to! Long story a little shorter, they finally got a chef to our table about an hour and 40 min after we were seated. From there things went much better. They did give us a small discount off of our bill, but that will be our last visit to Mikado. I do understand that this is a specialty restaurant and takes specially trained staff, but if you are not able to handle the needs of your customers.... Something has to change.

Obviously this place has gone way down hill looking at some previous reviews. Seven of us attempted to go there this past Thursday night and had reservations. We stood at the reception station for about 15 minutes...not a soul around to greet us. Finally my son called the restuarant number to get someone to seat us. We were seated by a young man who was in a hurry, did not appear to speak English and basically threw the menus on the table and left. There were four large groups in the restaurant. One was being served and the rest of us waiting...and waiting..and waiting. After about 20 minutes the table behind us got up and left. Apparently they were there and ignored long before we came. We followed suit about ten minutes later. I watched the one cook at the only table being served and he was in a great hurry and it smelled like her had burned the customers dinner. Not sure what was going on there but I am sure I will never go back. We did get a look at the menu and they are way overpriced at least for what they offered that night in terms of customer service. We went to another oriental restaurant down the street and were seated immediately, had our soup in ten minutes and our meals within 20 minutes and it was great. Best thing you can do is drive by this place and go to the other one. Sad, very sad.

Dont be like me-- listen to the other bad reviews. I came as part of a group of 18 or so people, all of whom made a reservation the day prior. The night started out strong, with a table quickly made available, and our drinks taken shortly after. The hibachi chefs were great, personable and cooked good food. Thats where it all went downhill. The sushi we ordered? Half of the orders never made it out to us at all, and half of those that did were messed up. Nobody came to refill our drinks even once, and when we finally got someones attention to do so, they barely understood what we wanted, and refilled one or two drinks before not coming back at all. After waiting over an hour for the rest of our orders that never made it, with multiple inquiries to the manager in between who kept changing their story between insisting that all the sushi was made and delivered to our table already, or that it just takes a long time to make (despite the fact that there was nobody at the sushi bar making anything the whole time we were waiting, and only two other tables with people there), we FINALLY got our checks. Ive had food come out late at restaurants before, but Ive never had it not come out at all, while being accused of lying by the manager who insists that we all got what we ordered. Despicable.

I was at the restaurant last night with a friend for dinner. We sat at the table with two other couples. We placed our order with the server, and our soup was served. I ate about five bites of my soup, and then I place the spoon down in the bottom of the bowl and there was a dead fly in my soup. I immediately pushed the bowl away as did everyone at the table. I asked the server to speak with the manager, and I was told that she was training a new sushi chef. Nobody came to our table for a while, so I asked again and was given the same answer. We went through our entire meal and was given the check and no manager. I dont work in a restaurant but I think common sense tells you that if your customer found a dead bug in the food that should be the priority. I told the server that I wasnt leaving until the manager came to the table. After an 1 1/2 she finally came and told me that it must have been in the bowl not in the soup. Are you kidding me? At this point I am becoming very irritated that she is not even trying to fix the problem. After a lengthy discussion, all I was offered was 20% off the bill which was $10.00!!! I will never go back there again. A dead fly means that something is going on in the kitchen or in the soup!!

Worst restaurant experience that Ive ever had. If the walls in this establishment are dirty, I wonder how unclean and unsanitary the kitchen is! We had asked the waiter for clean silverware. Originally there was dried food and unclean. The silverware that were the replacement was dirty. Eventually throughout the night we had received the original dirty spoon with dried food particles. Do they not clean their silverware? The sushi rolls that were ordered had bruised avocado and they were scarcely filled. The toppings were discolored. I personally ordered the shrimp and filet mignon...a $25 plate. I never order dinners at this price so my expectations were high. I ordered my steak medium rare...it came out rare and mushy that I ended up spitting out my precious steak! This company will not be receiving my service nor all of my contacts. If and when they get an inspection, they will surely fail! Enter at your own risk!

Reopened on Dec 16, 2009, so I was excited to pay it a visit today. Unfortunately, I came out utterly disappointed. Unless youre taking your business clients out where you simply need a presentable place to talk business, you dont want to waste your time here. Price is high -- another reason why you should only come here if you can reimburse your expenses. Food is OK but nothing compared to what Im used to in the NY Metro area. But these would not be reason enough to say that I would never go back to this restaurant. What kills customer loyalty is the personal interaction with the owner/management. I had the opportunity for a short chat with the owner before I left, and she came across as a total snob. (Yes, I know who snobs are, coming from the NYC metro). Shes totally unfriendly with a poker face during the brief exchange. OK may be its a bad night for her, but that did it for me.
