I hate to let the secret out, but... Dietsch Eck was the best home cooked meals that I have ever eaten, since my Mom passed away. It is family run and Chef/owner Steven Stetzler—who grew up a few miles from Lenhartsville—runs the former hotel with help from his mother, sister and aunt. The menu serves Pennsylvania German favorites such as fritters, pickled beets, chowchow, chicken pot pie and where else can you get homemade pig stomach these days. If you are looking for something a little less exotic, they also make burgers, reubens, cheesesteaks and pastas The folks are genuinely friendly and it is a pleasure to share a meal there. I live in Miami, and visit this area for about 10-12 days over the summer. My wife and I plan on eating lunch or dinner at the Dietsch Eck as many times a possible. By the way, Dietsch Eck is German for German Corner. The restaurant sits at he corner of Penn and Willow Streets. If you go, be sure to ask for the Mint Tea. If they made some that day, you are in for treat ! It is well worth the trip. -- Art Giles, Miami

This is one of those restaurants where it probably helps if your mom goes to church with the hostess. It doesnt change the warmth of the service; rather, it gives context to the cuisine of a shrinking ethnic group in Pennsylvania. Our evening meal ended up being a tasting flight of local specialties. Saturday nights special, chicken pot pie (seconds offered on menu for free and accepted at the table!) was one choice. Smoked and fresh sausage from Peters Brothers, about 250 yards away, was the other. We got five side dishes with our two main courses: corn fritters, potato fritters, apple fritters, candied sweet potatoes, and pepper cabbage. Missing for us tonight was lettuce with hot bacon dressing - for another night. This is simple, well-prepared food. It is the kind of food people would have eaten a hundred years at the noon hour after a hard morning of work in the fields. This being 2016, we ate the same quantity of food and went home to watch TV. No liquor license. Ask why the bar has a tiled and drained gutter in the floor.

GREAT FOOD, GREAT PRICES! I live in Shillington outside of Reading, and my grandma lives in Lenhartsville, so I always look forward to visiting when I go here. This is hands-down my favorite sit-down restaurant Ive ever eaten at. Its a relaxed and casual atmosphere and a great chance to share a little of your hometown Dutch culture with others - or a great way to experience PA Dutch culture for yourself! The food is absolutely delicious, and even better, its cheap! The service is wonderful and always friendly. I have absolutely no bad things to say about this lovely restaurant. Every time Im down in Philadelphia for school and I get hungry, I think of the Deitsch Eck and start to miss the 3 tined forks and smoked Peters Bros. sausage [packaged just up the street] they make fresh daily. Best food ever. Go enjoy it yourself! You couldnt possibly be dissatisfied if youre looking for a reasonably priced, casual restaurant with REALl home cooking!

My family and I drove an hour out of our way, on an 18 hour drive, to try this place. Extremely disappointed, disgusted, and not happy! The only decent thing was the corn fritters and my childs cheeseburger. The waitress had no idea what some menu items contained and looked at me like a deer in headlights. My meal had a hair in it, and not one came to the table out of courtesy, the waitress simply took my plate and never returned. And Im not exaggerating! Eww! I wouldnt even give it half a star, but i had to give it 1 star to post it

The service was alright I was impressed with that at the very least. We waited a very long time for our food and when it finally came in was impressed with my salad but my friends were not impressed with there food the turkey burger and the sausage was terrible. The food all wanted to make us throw up and by no means was it authentic. Very bad would give no stars if could. Also the coffee sucked.

We found this place by accident on a road trip, and were so glad we did! The building has a lot of history and felt like a place where people go to relax. The staff were all super friendly and our waitress, Amy, was the best! Get the Luther burger, which is a hamburger with a donut for a bun. Dont knock it til you try it!

One of the few restaurants left that serves traditional Pennsylvania Dutch food. The restaurant is in an old hotel with artwork from the famous Dutch Hex painter Johnny Ott--completely worth the visit!

Really great service, but the food was incredibly bland. I got the chicken breast, smoked sausage, and green beans (all of which were pretty bland/dry). The cherry pie was pretty phenomenal though.

If you love PA Dutch food this is a "must stop" place. Service is quick and friendly. Prices are just right and if you have room for dessert, the pies are out of this world.

Pennsylvania Dutch cooking at its best, with friendly service to go with it. Highly recommend the chicken and waffles, topped off by a slice of shoo fly pie with a cup of coffee
