Whenever you want to go to a Chinese restaurant and if you live near Lansdale, more or less it come down to these three options: P.F. Chang, Hong Kong and Abacus. At Abacus, we thought that the food was good (especially their vegetable dumplings) but not better than Hong Kong or P.F. Chang. The décor was better than Hong Kong but the food was more expensive. Plus there customer service is not great. Once on a Friday evening, I went to pick up food there. I forgot to ask for a sauce on the phone so when I reached Abacus, I politely asked for it. Somehow the owner (bald guy) felt that I was wasting his time, got irritated, said some stuff and asked me to pay for it. How much time he was going to waste by getting a dumpling sauce from the kitchen? I understand that there was no one at the counter to cover for him but I was ready to wait but he kind of berated me for it. What kind of customer service is that? Plus, this has happened twice. After that, we never felt like going to that place again. We enjoy going to Hong Kong and P.F. Chang with better customer service and better food.

Went here because a friend recommended it. Was a little weary because of previous reviews. Ordered the a bowl of sweet and sour soup, king-tu pork and hoonan steak. The soup was average and warm when served. The king-tu pork was tough. The hoonan steak was good. I was surprised by the price of the entres when they were very small servings and "just okay" tasting. The overall environment was nice- it looked higher end but had a few problems though. We arrived around 1 for a late lunch. There were already bowls of fried noodle appetizers on the table... who knows how long they had been sitting out. The shadow boxes along the wall had greasy childrens handprints on them. One redeeming quality was the staff. The waiter was super nice and very attentive. He was always there to fill up water and ask how everything was tasting. We ended up asking the waiter for another hoonan steak because we were not satisfied with the pork dish. The waiter was very responsive, and with no questions asked, replaced the dish immediately. When the bill came he never charged us for the bowl of soup.

We have been eating at this place for 7 straight years. Today Papa joes wife was there and when we went to pay our bill we gave them a $5 tip. She in turn asked me if that was all I was going to give? I said excuse me? She said your bill is $45 and your only giving us $5 as a tip. First let me clarify something, I am a mother of 3 kids, we do not get to go out often to eat because we are on a serious fixed budget, however they made $45 from 4 small plates of pork and rice and a sweet tea and then complain about a $5 tip? While I love the food I will say this, next time it will be a much smaller tip if I am ever asked why the amount of my tip is so low again. I am very very upset about this and she had no right what so ever to question my tip amount. With all do respect, I dont own a business and what I was able to do was take my kids out for a small meal on my fixed income.

I personally work at a chinese restaurant my self. I way i had my food made was under seasoned and bland. I recommend to all of you who have a dislike for abacus, please spend the extra dollar and go to Yantze Chinese of ralphs corner. The food is worth your money, we have great customer satisfaction, and we care for what the customer has to say. I have been there for 2 years, and i havent tasted better food anywhere else. If you have any questions just ask for blake or john. We are looking forward to you dining with us. Hope to see you shortly, ~ Yantze Chinese Gourmet

Lets start with the egg roll. There was ,honest to goodness, about 1/4 inch of grease in the bag. I got lo mein. It glistened with grease. As did the rice. Neither had any flavor. The other order was sweet and sour chicken. No flavor. At least she just threw it away. I ate mine because it cost me a lot of money. That was a mistake! I was immediately feeling sick. I was not "sick" just felt so bad I got no sleep. There are a lot of places to choose from. Do yourself a favor and eat somewhere else!

Just ordered Shanghai Wonton Soup and Governors Chicken(AKA General Tsos Chicken elsewhere). The soup was fine. The chicken was terrible. The meat was chewy. The batter they fry it in was not crispy, it was a soggy mess. The sauce was not very good but not terrible. The rice smelled like rubber? Weird smell and you know when you smell something it tastes like what it smells like. I ate 3 bites and threw it out. Worst food I have had in some time. Im not a picky eater, this was just bad.

I dont know what is with this place. The quality of the food is constantly changing. One time, every thing is delicious, not too greasy, just great. The next everything is slimy and greasy. Even the wonton soup changes from delicious little dumplings with super thin and perfect wrappers to gross thick noodles with not even a teaspoon of meat in them. Anyway Im done with the crapshoot, its a shame as I remember going there with my parents as a little girl!

This is my favorite place to eat Chinese food. Nothing else compares. They maintain a high standard of service, and the food is amazing. We dont live in the state anymore, and this place is the thing that I miss the most about living here. ALWAYS eat there when we visit family, and the owner remembers us every time. Love It!

Ive been here 3x. Ill eat here again for their wonton soup with spinach when Im sick or if Im too lazy to drive out to Audubon or Gateway for my two favorite restaurants. Ive ordered many dishes here and Im happy to report the food is not overly greased like youll find in some places. Its really just "fair" in food taste.

I used to work for them 6 yrs back in their kitchen, they sell you leftover rice. He just fried the leftover steamed rice. He dont even care to wash dish well and also hires ppl with no paper to work secretly in kitchen. Money minded person.

The staff is friendly and welcoming, for sure. I got the shrimp and papaya special, which came with more food than I could finish. Chicken with plum sauce had a mild flavor, but still tasted great. Were absolutely coming back.

Abacus has been a family favorite for nearly 20 years. Joes wonton soup, crabmeat & cheese wontons, crispy shrimp with walnuts and ginger beef are some of my usual picks but Ive never been disappointed.

Decent spot for a quick and inexpensive Chinese lunch. The fried wontons and the free tea are a nice touch. The entrees can be hit or miss. Friendly and attentive staff.

Best Chinese restaurant Ive ever been to. The service was very friendly and the food was spectacular. Itll definitely be a regular stop during my stay in Pennsylvania.
