This is one of the most OVERRATED, OVERPRICED restaurants ever with HORRIBLE QUALITY FOOD!!! AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! I was in the Lancaster area looking for take-out this past Saturday night. I normally avoid Chinese take-out due to the poor quality, but I saw that this restaurant had pretty good reviews so I went to their website. I looked at the prices and they were similar to PFChangs (the best Chinese restaurant ever). I figured if they were charging that much & getting good reviews, the quality must be very good....I was so wrong! I ordered General Tsos Chicken for $11.50 and my husband got Hot & Spicy Beef for $11.50. When I called to place the order, I asked if the General Tsos came with broccoli and was told "yes". My husband picked up the order and it ended up coming to ~$25 with tax, which is expensive for take-out. That would be ok if the food was at least good, but it was not at all! My General Tsos Chicken was ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!!! Every piece of chicken (I wouldnt even call it that) was 3/4 slimy, goopy fat & breading with a tiny piece of chicken. Ive seen General Tsos chicken like that at $5 buffet, but not at higher end restaurants, especially when charging $11.50 for it!!! I ended up being so grossed out that I threw out the majority of my meal. Oh & it was supposed to "come with broccoli"...they gave me 2 pieces! Ya thats right...a meal that expensive and all they could give me was 2 lousy pieces of broccoli!!! My husbands hot & spicy beef was "ok"...the meat was chewy & the sauce was a little bland, but it was far more edible than mine so we ended up splitting that. The worst part of the story is I called the restaurant today to speak to the manager to let them know my dissatisfaction...if their food was bad, their customer service was even worse!!! A woman named "Tina" answered the phone. I asked to speak with the manager. She insisted that I tell her what was wrong. I asked her what her title was and she said "officer"...for all the times that I have eaten out in my life and even worked in the restaurant business years ago, I have never heard of a position called "officer". Tina wouldnt put anyone else on the phone so I had to talk to her. To begin, she continually cut me off and said that what I was saying wasnt true...no apology to be had. She was also very rude & sarcastic when she did speak. When I said I was going to put a review online, she said, "you better do that after what happened". I then asked again to speak to a manager and she HUNG UP the phone on me. I called back and said I couldnt believe she hung up on me and I wanted to speak to a manager. All the sudden her story changed and she then said, "I am the manager, part owner". I said I couldnt believe then how she was treating a customer who was calling about poor quality food. She used 1 curse word at me. When I called her out for that, she HUNG UP on me AGAIN! I would never go to this restaurant again (or recommend to anyone) not only because of the disgusting food, but also the rude, unapologetic officer/manager/part-owner, Tina!!!

My family recently moved here from Chester County and I have had some bad experiences at some Asian restaurants (including some of the big chains) in the past and were at first little leery about coming here, despite a couple of friends recommendations. After our experience, were glad we took the plunge. The food was fresh and delicious. I ordered the Pad Thai and it was just awesome! My husband loves General Tsos Chicken, however, he can only take so much spice, but it was no problem, the staff happily and readily had his sauce customized and reduced in spiciness. My 17 year-old daughter has a gluten sensitivity, but again, the staff was quick to make sure that her order was right for her. They even pointed out the differences in soy sauces available. The dining area was clean and comfortable. The atmosphere was relaxed and casual. The service we received was prompt and courteous. The staff was very polite and helpful. Cafe East is our new family night dinner destination!

Being from the metropolitan NYC/NJ area I was brought up with many choices of Chinese and Japanese foods. Cafe East on Centerville Road has the freshest sushi/sashimi in this area. Even for the beginner sushi eater there is something for everyone. The Chinese food is about as close to Chinatown, NYC food also. Lots of variety for even the timid eaters. Been eating here since it opened many years ago.

I was quite skeptical of the reviews before I visited the restaurant... I have been disappointed by every other restaurant serving Asian food in Lancaster City. The food served at Cafe East does not compare to any other place I have eaten. It is absolutely incredible and authentic. Please stop eating at every other generic "Chinese food" place in the city and do your stomach and taste buds a favor!

When it comes to top quality Asian cuisine, there is no place better than Cafe East. The sushi is fresh and delicious, the speciality dishes are excellent, and the service prompt, courteous, and makes you feel comfortable. Looking for a speciality dish not listed on the menu, just ask; we have not been disappointed yet.

Always my favorite place to go. They are helpful with new sushi suggestions when I want to try something new. I love that their General Tso is made from all white meat so it is always tender and not fatty. Service is great and if I am planning a special event or evening, I call ahead and ask for Tina - shes the best.

Honestly, they make some of the best wonton soup Ive ever had. The wontons are so put-together looking and the broth looks rich and delicious in comparison to some over ones Ive seen. The crab rangoons are heavenly, this is definitely my go-to place for Chinese food in the area. I have no had a bad dish from them.

The food here is fantastic and made quickly. Not the cheapest but worth it over standard Chinese takeout. The Pad Thai is very good. I dont normally get sushi here but it is probably one of the better places to get it in Lancaster, nothing fantastic but never mediocre. Cafe East is extremely popular for takeout.

I love eating here, and I am never disappointed. The staff are extremely friendly if you get to know them. This restaurant uses fresh quality ingredients and doesnt use MSG, I know I can trust what Im eating 100%. Menu selection leaves nothing to be desired.

Since cafe east was established many years ago it has always been a great choice for Adian Fusion, my most recent experiences elevated my perception even more with the Thai seafood rice. Service here is excellently paired with the exceptional food.
