I purchased a Groupon for this restaurant after a coworker sent it my way (we LOVE Indian food in our office), and I took two colleagues to Desi Village for lunch today. The experience was simply awful. To sum it up: the food was dreadful. Temperature-wise ... the buffet offerings were either lukewarm or room temperature. Not too tasty. But even more troubling, I just received texts independently from my lunchmates saying theyre ill. I imagine it has to do with the inadequate buffet temperatures. Needless to say? - I feel like a ticking time bomb. On top of the poor food quality, the staff was downright rude, and I believe they padded the checkout price. When we went to pay, I presented my Groupon. The gentleman ringing us out informed me that the total would be $35. I asked him how much the buffet cost (recent reviews online had listed it as $9/person, and we only had 3 people in our party). I asked how much the price was, as the total didnt seem to be correct. He informed that it was $9.47 (I believe that was the exact amount quoted). My coworkers and I were all in a rush to get back to the office, and I asked again how we could get to that total. Did they add tax, I asked? "Uhhhh ... yahh!" - the cashier responded, very impatiently, rolling his eyes, and in what was clearly a mocking tone of voice. I was shocked and I bit my tongue. Because we were in a rush, my colleague that I had promised to treat to lunch pulled a $5 bill from his pocket and we left. When we returned to work, I told the three Indian software engineers in my pod that Id just had a terrible Indian food experience. "Where did you go?" one asked. The second I said Desi Village, they all groaned in unison. Apparently its known in the Wayne/KOP Indian community for being awful. Word to the wise: dont waste your time.

I want to share my experience about this place, so that nobody else gets to deal with the suffocating feeling that i went through. I am new to KOP, my roomate and my self were trying to explore restuarants in KOP, on one unfortunate afternoon we happen to go through to a Indian Restuarant called "Desi Village". The the look and ambience will deceive you in beginning, but once you go the food counter the reality will be in front of you, no variety as such and the taste sucks. On the top of this if you by chance, dont finish the food on the plate, u will have to face the scary look of the waitors over there. They keep starring at your all the time you eat. I guess the people are stupid not to understand , if a customer doesnt eat of the food in the plate, there food is really bad. Instead they stare at you as if u did the biggest sin in your life The curries were sweet, i guess instead of salt there are adding sugar, and rice is not all fresh, guys be aware of "Desi Village" My suggestion if u really hate somebody and want them give them a abad time, u should take them there, other wise this place is really crapy

I was at Desi Village for dinner with my family (my wife and two toddlers). We ordered a Soup, Biryani, chicken dish and naan. After waiting for 15 minutes, we got the Soup. However, it took them more than an hour to bring us the so called Biryani. There were just two tables occupied in the whole restaurant at that time. I asked for the reason for the delay and the response was because they have a lot of Delivery Orders. Well if you had so many Delivery Orders, you got to tell your customer when we first arrived. How can you keep us waiting for more than an hour that too with kids. However, I did not say anything and patiently waited for our dinner. The hunger was at its peak so we though we will enjoy the dinner. But it was a very bad experience. While the chicken dish and naan was good, they just cooked up the Biryani. They has mixed rice with lamb and presented to us as Biryani as if we were from mars and would not know what the Biryani is like :) Anyway, we had our dinner and left. No need to mentioned, its no go for us in future and would not recommend even to our friends.

ONE OF THE WORST DESI (INDIAN & PAKISTANI) RESTAURANTS in the entire country. I have never seen any place like this where they are openly making customer fool. I was there once few years ago and I didnt like and I tried it again few days back when being pushed by wife who said the management has changed. But to my surprise, nothing changed at all and top of that their food quality has gone down the drain. The biggest stupidity, they listed kabobs as tandoori chicken....which was worst of all. Nothing in apetizers as such. Food was all cold and bread was the worst one. Dont know how they are surviving..probably based on the Groupon deals..only Americans who dont know Desi food comes to this place.....However there are plenty of other desi (Indian & Paki) restaurants nearby who serve food MUCH MUCH better than this place.....Dont get attracted by their food price..though its cheap...but its all Sh**t that you going to eat.

I am on a business trip in this area, went in to this place to have dinner by my self and go back to my hotel. There was only a couple at that time. The guy looked at me and said (ARE YOU HERE FOR TAKE OUT) no hi, welcome nothing, I said no Im here to eat. He walked away and said fallow me to the table, got seated he didnt ask me what beverage I want, he automatically brought me a cup of water. He kept bugging me for few times if Im ready I felt rushed to order my food. Waited forever for the food at the same time another Indian couple git seated he brought them drinks, something to snack while they waited I was like waw I was surprised with the treatment I got. After serving me the food he never bothered if I needed something or hows everything. Never ever go back or recommend this place...terrible service

I ordered a $17 dinner for delivery. The meal that came was 75% bones, very little actual meat. That may sound like an exaggeration, we both know the internet is full of that. But please read the other reviews and give me the benefit of a doubt when I say that 3/4 of this dish was inedible. Other parts of the meal - A sour sauce the bones came in and plain white rice. The was the best aspect of the meal (because it was all I could eat) and in the end it was just - plain - white - rice. I paid $17 for a dollar worth of rice. Now I feel like a fool for seeing these (and other) poor reviews, but still giving them my money. Please dont do the same. Off to reheat some leftovers to offset my $17 handful of rice.

The worst place to have an indian food. The Staff and specially the manager was so rude that he was laughing at us when we said we didnt like the food. We have ordered 3 different kind of curry, Kadhaye Paneer, Vegetable Kofta Curry and chicken Masala. All 3 curry were made of the same sauce with no difference in gravy. They just put paneer , kofta and chicken in different bowl. On the other hand Gravy was sweet. God knows what were they trying to make. The manager didnt even bothered to ask what was wrong with their food. I just paid my bill and came out and decided not to go again. If you are interested in some good indian food, i must say this is not the place to be.
