We visited this restaurant on Friday night, and it was the worst experience Ive ever had at a restaurant. We took our father for Fathers Day two years ago, and wound up leaving because our food hadnt come out after 45 minutes of waiting. But we decided to give it another try. We were seated, and there were only several tables full when we arrived. We ordered an appetizer, and our entrees, and the appetizer came pretty quickly. We waited for a half an hour after we finished our appetizer, and then asked the woman who was running the restaurant if everything was ok. She told us wed need to wait longer, with no apology or explanation. We waited an additional 15 minutes, and then I told her we had to leave. She told us to hold on to see if she could cancel our order, and walked back to the kitchen. A server brought our food out, asked if we wanted it, and I asked where the other two entrees were- if they were all ready, I told him we would take them to go. He said only one of three was ready. I said no, we dont want it. The woman came back out, and I told her wed like to pay for our appetizer. She told me that we didnt have to. I thanked her, and as we were walking out, she said "I just cant believe that the food is ready and you dont want it". I turned around and told her that a third of our food was ready, so no, I didnt want it, and reminded her that wed been waiting for close to an hour now. She said it had only been twenty minutes, and I again told her, no, its been close to an hour. She told us to just go, so we began walking out again, and she said "And dont come back". I assured her we wont.

We discovered Han Dynasty in Exton the week it opened and have been "regulars" ever since. We were thrilled when Phila magazine and Main Line Magazine recognized this Chester County gem. Han and his family were always in attendance, chatting and giving advice for new "traditional" Chinese menu items to try! But, we had a very disappointing dinner there last night! To start, the two soups we ordered were not hot. The sweet and sour soup was cold - barely room temperature. We flagged down the waiter and then waited five minutes for a replacement. The General Tso Chicken was rubbery, hard and dry, with a gloppy burnt-tasting sauce. We left it uneaten. One member of our party ordered string beans - at about $9 very expensive. They were cold - not even slightly warm. By then, the place was filling up so we did not bother to ask to heat them up. The dry pot and hunan chicken were fine. The service was nonexistant. We were the first to arrive - the restaurant was empty. But, once we were served, the waiter never came back to check up on us. We went and got our own chopsticks. We had to divvy up the waters and all four glasses were empty when we finished. Not filling water glasses is unacceptable when serving spicy food! Han and his family were not around. I asked if the restaurant had a new owner, since the menu was new. It now lists "Americanized" dishes, which was a new term for me. They assured me that Han was still the owner, but that he spent all his time at the Royersford restaurant. The lady said, "He will not be back here." Well, neither will we! Posted by Jan: Aug. We are frequent patrons of the restaurants (have been going there for over 3 years). Weve always enjoyed their food. However, their service recently has gone backward. The (new) manager on duty (a young guy with curly hair to the shoulders) was not helpful and I am not sure why he runs that place. On a recent visit, I asked him what wonton dish they have (can be dry with spicy sauce or in soup). He said that "we have everything you need". I was baffled because this is not an answer to the question. I then asked if they have wonton soup and whats the portion size of it. He somehow had an attitude and grimaced (or maybe shrugged his shoulders I dont remember) even though he did provide the answer. When we finished the meal, we inquired that whether a 10% discount using cash payment is still available. The waiter who has been serving us said yes but later returned to our table indicating that the manger told him no. I am not sure if this curly hair guy just had a thing with our table or what? I did not bother to argue with him because the senior manager who is friendly with us was not on duty that Saturday. So it made no sense to confront with the only person representing the management. I am less likely to return to this restaurant because of this experience. If people at the management do not know about service, I am not confident about the quality of their service AT ALL.

Im really surprised by all the horrible reviews here. Maybe things are different? But the service was really amazing. At least two people checked on us every once in a while and were very chipper. We went on a Friday night and the place was pretty packed. I think youd really have to know which dishes to order because its not an Americanized Asian restaurant. (I ordered in Mandarin only because there were some special dishes I had no clue what they were actually called in English... As someone who grew up for a few years in Taiwan, I knew which dishes were better than other. I hate to say this but General Tsos chicken is not an authentic Chinese dish... Its very Americanized.) As someone who misses authentic Taiwanese cuisine, I loved every bite of the three dishes we ordered. Again, you really have to know what youre ordering. I brought my boyfriend who is not Asian, and he thought it was the best Asian food hes ever had... And he wanted to go back for every meal that weekend. Just a tip, their specialty dishes are in dry pot. We tried the sliced fish in dry pot (somewhat spicy) and it was excellent! Also, I believe... sweet pea leaves (Im sorry, I only know the Mandarin name); I tried to look it up on the menu but I dont think its actually there. Its one of the most tender vegetables out there!

Reviewing the Exton location: My wife and I arrived shortly before 6:00 on a Saturday and were seated promptly, and were brought tea. After this, the service nearly disappeared. Eventually our orders were taken, and this was the last we saw of our waiter. The dinner crown was filing in, and the restaurant was severely understaffed. After an excessive wait, a runner (who did not seem to speak English) brought our food. There was no return of our waiter to check on us, make sure the order is right, etc.. We wanted to chopsticks and eventually tried to go to the host station to find some. After the host sufficiently ignored us as well, I had to find and take some myself. Throughout our meal nobody came to once to see us, refill our water or tea, etc. Another 20 minutes or so after we had finished eating, there was still no sign of the waiter. We tried flagging him down, which too was ignored, and eventually resorting to yelling for the check. With the check we also asked for a box to take home some leftovers. Again, this never came, and we, again, had to retrieve the box by force. Although I found the food excellent, and a diversion from the normal chinese fare of General Tsos and Lo Mein, the ambiance was lacking and the service was downright abysmal. I do not expect to return.
