My experience with Cafe Alessio on 8/11 was horrid. I went out to dinner with my friend around 7pm, and we decided to sit outside. My friend had to ask the waitress 3 times for a cup of ice for her iced tea (which came out warm with no ice). It began raining outside, and no one offerred to let us and my newborn child move inside. When I asked to move inside, they told me I would have to leave my stroller outside in the pouring rain, because there was no room for it inside (even though it would collapse). Oh and once we moved inside, our waitress was never to be seen again. We had to hunt down a waitress from another table to BECOME our waitress. My friend ordered the salmon panini. When it came out, my friend stated that she had thought she ordered the salmon panini. Why did she ask that question? Because there was an EXTREMELY small portion of salmon on a gigantic piece of bread, smothered in tomatoes. The waitress replied, "Oh, youre right, this isnt the salmon panini, it is the (blank) panini." Upon opening the roll, the waitress said, "oh wait, this is the salmon panini I guess." The waitress could not even tell it was the salmon panini, because the salmon wasnt even visible. My friend asked to speak to the manager. After waiting 15 minutes, he decided to come out, and ask what was wrong. He told her that he was "too busy" cooking in the kitchen to come out, and he didnt need to come out anyway to see what was wrong, because he "sees all food before it exits the kitchen." My friend asked what could be done to remedy the situation of barely having any salmon on the sandwich, and he said "Nothing. I dont need you as a customer. You are going to pay for your food, I am not taking it off the bill, you are going to leave, and never come back. I have a loyal customer base, I dont need you." After waiting another 15 minutes for the check, we left. While we were walking outside past the outside sitting area, the managers teenage son (who we spoke with earlier, who informed us he was his son), yelled in front of the entire crowd outside, "I am sorry. The only thing I can suggest to you is getting mental treatment. You need mental help because we never have anyone that complains this much about our food." ...Did they really just speak to 2 customers like that, over a small complaint about the amount of salmon on a sandwich? .....enough said. If you want mediocre food, and want to give your money to an owner who does not care about how he or his family speak to customers, go here. I suggest saving your cash, and going to Basically Burgers across the street. Amazing food run by a small family who actually care about their customers.

Made the mistake of going here on a Friday night. Made reservations and called that wed be 20 minutes late, which they had no problem with. Off the bat I noticed something was up because the waitress made the 4 of us share 1 sushi menu. I then felt like she was rushing our order, which is better than being ignored I suppose. We had to wait a while for the food which was expected because it was Friday evening. Sitting outside was very nice as the weather was perfect if you dont mind the noise of what Ill call urban Doylestown. One of the clean plates we were given had what seemed to be boogie on it, mildly killing the experience. Also, when the sushi finally came out we didnt recognize one of the rolls and asked the waitress who quickly identified it as something other than what I ordered. She apologized but didnt offer to correct it or scratch it from the bill, even though I reassured her it was okay. I know mistakes happen, particularly when its busy, but this place is not huge and the staffing seems plentiful. I would like to experience this place on an early weekday, perhaps for lunch, as I think it has much more potential than what I experienced that evening. Then again, generally poor service is often a reflection of poor management. This place is overpriced, as is most of Doylestown. Go to Jules Pizza instead down the street.

Food is decent. Our server was a nice, kind girl too. The place still doesn;t seem to get it right - how could that be?? We were done with 4 courses in one hour and 5 minutes - hello - anyone think about timing?????? This was on a Tuesday night, was very slow at that - not because the kitchen was cranking to get food out. Also stated at least 3 if not 5 times that our table was too small for so many courses being served on top of each other. At one point we had 3 courses on a small two seated table. The restaurant was not busy and requested they place some of our food on the table next to ours....manager refused. Needless to say the salad fell off the table and while we only had 3 bites, they still charged us for the $5.25 salad! We even spoke with the manager and he said that we ate the majority of it, asked him how he could state that and became very nasty! He was ok losing a customer over a $5.25 salad that we never got to eat, and this was on a $60.00+ bill. Fine with me - would not recommend this place to anyone based on the management - always comes from the top!!!

We were in a bit of a hurry and politely informed our waitress- she said it would be no problem. We ordered an appetizer and pizza and waited about 30 minutes for our food to come out. Our waitress brought the pizza out and we asked where the appetizer was. She said she forgot about it and asked us if we just wanted to take it off the check. We were not pleased but agreed as we were in a hurry. Next, she brought the pizza out and it was very plain with no flavor. Didnt taste like it was made to order. Our waitress only checked on us maybe once in the time we were there. When the bill came, she said the cash register wasnt working properly and it took about 30 minutes for her to bring our card back, only to find out she double charged us. At this point, we were pretty annoyed with the lack of decent food and service. The staff should be retrained and should get it together. They should also improve their quality of food.

Great food!! We went for lunch - the sushi is fabulous, and so is the calamari appetizer. Perfectly done. I hate when a restaurant murders the calamari by frying it too long. This place nailed it! My friend had a chicken parm with fries and he said it was really good. Our waiters name was Mike - really nice guy. Its a BYOB place, he said there is a state store across the street (there is), but we were already there, so.....cest la vie. Next time. Definitely. Odd, when I went to post I read a review below from someone named Dana. - what was weird was that Id met the owners when I ate there and they were sooo nice. They asked how everything was, and thanked us for coming. I checked her reviews..all negative. I dont know, maybe she watches too many food shows on tv and thinks she is a critic? Overall - its a small place with great food - and everyone was so nice. Try it - you will like it!
