Had dinner last night (2/19/19) at Portabella Cafe in, of all places, Eddystone, Pa. For those of you who know the area, it is a veritable wasteland as far as decent food is concerned. Anyway a couple of friends recommended this place and I was skeptical because they are both smokers and have little or no taste buds. But they were right! I had filet steak with gorgonzola, which came with soup -- shrimp bisque (excellent) and roasted fresh vegetables!!! who knew??? I highly recommend this establishment because the food is excellent, the price reasonable ($20. per entree for dinner; a little less for lunch), the host exceptional (italian born, handsome and sweet), the canolis -- fantastic and crisp, presentation -- as good as any high scale restaurant. The topper was when the host came to our table with cordial glasses and three bottles of after dinner drinks (complimentary) -- sambucca, lemoncella and port wine -- and left us to our own devices. Please try this restaurant because we want to keep them in business so that we have some choices without traveling out of the county!!! Ciao for now.

Our server treated us like we werent even there. When we arrived he "literally" walked up to our table without saying a word to us. He never introduced himself, or told us about the specials or even asked for our drink orders. He just stood there with his notepad as I awkwardly asked for a Pepsi and waters. When he arrived he never filled the waters and proceeded to laugh and joke with his other table. Once we finished our drinks we sat them at the edge of the table and I asked for a refill. He then proceeded to bus two other tables before refilling them and only refilled mine and left my boyfriends empty on the table. He barely made eye contact and was inattentive. By the end of the meal we had had enough of being ignored payed our tab and left. It was one of the most rude experiences I have ever had and will not be returning. The food was ok but the service was downright terrible!

My party booked a reservation for 6pm on a Saturday and was not seated until 6:30. There was no apology or even acknowledgement that we were forced to wait an extra half hour. The gentleman serving us seemed to have a bit of an attitude when taking our orders, specifically to my mother and our female neighbor, to the point that another manager must have noticed as he was soon replaced with a different waiter. The atmosphere was loud to the point that we had to yell to hear each other over the din. The food was decent but was not worth the price, especially considering the atmosphere and service we put up with. My neighbors dined here occasionally on special occasions and lauded the place as being similar to dining in the city and were visibly embarrassed at the quality of service and atmosphere we all experienced. They said they would not visit here again.

This is my go-to restaurant when I want to offer good friends a great meal. This is true, authentic Italian cooking in a quant, if slightly cramped (Isnt every GOOD restaurant?), setting. The service is excellent and professional. The meals are cooked to perfection. The specials are incredible for such an "off the path" location. Make reservations if you are going at peak times, but know that youll be satisfied at any time. BYOB, too, for the best experience. At the airport? Youre close enough. Dont miss this while youre in town.

What a really nice place. The food is delicious and the staff is very attentive. We arrived without a reservation. They informed us that there was a cigar dinner planned for 7:00 (45 minutes after we arrived) but that they would still seat us. We told them that we didnt mind cigar smoke, and they gave us a table. The waiter offered appetizers and specials, and we selected the shrimp lobster crab pasta dish with the tuna and arugula appetizer. The food was excellent! I am definitely going again!

Friends of mine opened up the Monte Carlo Living Room restaurant on South Street many years ago and it has since closed so I sorely missed their brand of Italian food - light, elegantly served, authentic and wonderful and then someone said to eat here and I discovered they are also friends of Umberto and Georgio and so on so my favorite food is back in my life! Go early - it gets crowded later in the day. I cannot say enough about their food!

Very tasty!!! A "Real Italian Restaurant". I had no complaints about any of the food served with my meal. My wife wants me to make reservations for this evening, a must Fri-Sun evenings.. Reservations unnecessary during weekdays. Do your business lunches there and your client will be impressed and in a good mood. Needs 5 more stars to rate it as it deserves.

We came at 4:30 in the afternoon, ridiculously early. But we were seated immediately and served fresh bread. Our appetizer was the Cozze Mussels, tiny, fresh, and sweet. My husband had the signature fettuccine and I had the soft shell crab special. Both were delightful. The tiramiso and coffee finished off a perfect meal!

Excellent!!!! Ate dinner tonight ( outside seating) and was so happy we went after passing by it all these years. Always heard it was good, but it was excellent!!! Inside is small and noisy, so we choose to eat outside. Alot of choices, good apps, and reasonable. Plan to go back very soon.

We ate here last month and it was not what I expected at all. If we had read the yelp negative reviews, we wouldnt choose this place. Food was OK, but service was very very rude!!!! We CANNOT STAND the way they treat us. We would give 0 stars if we could.

Great food. Terrible service. Our waiter was rude, which made our dining experience tense. He knocked over a glass of water on my boyfriend. He barely apologized, and then had another waiter bring our check. Although, I love their food I wont be returning.

I have not only never had a bad meal here, I have enjoyed some of the finest food Ive had in the entire Philadelphia area. Visitors to Boeing nearby or just passing through the area at PHL should not miss this excellent, authentic Italian cafe.

Oh my gosh. You are the lucky one if you get the chance to eat here. The staff and customers are wonderful people. It is BYOB. The food is so good words cannot describe. Prices are reasonable. Make reservations....only about 15 tables.

I passed by this place while on a business trip. The waiter got me table even though I didnt have a reservation. He even brought me a beer from his personal stash. So BYOB. Very friendly waiter. Cozy atmosphere. Grill Lamb Chop recommended!

Best steak ive ever eaten in my life. (Flavor). In town for work and very glad i came upon this place. Fancy setting, great salad, bread, i had oysters. High class eating experience all around. Also noticed outside seating avalable.

First time at restaurant. Enjoyed the meals. But parking is a problem. Had car towed Saturday night at cost $300.00 (Extortion) to get car from compound. Tow was only $75.00.

Dinner was delicious. Full menu. Outdoor seating is a delight. An added feature is hearing St Rose of limas Church bells play the Angelus at 6PM.
