The Whip consistently serves fabulous British fare: their Bangers & Mash, Shepherds Pie, Fish & Chips, and Beef on Weck are all wonderfully good when you add a side of Mushy Peas to your order! The Scotch Egg and Welsh Rarebit appetizers are delightful and you must save room for dessert! Sticky Toffee Pudding is not to be missed to round off your British dining experience. But fear not, the Chef is always offering the freshest the most delicious menus, featuring the best flavors of local grown and raised produce and prime cuts as well. His creativity and ability to bring those culinary dreams to life knows no bounds. The menu changes with the seasons and Ive never had a dinner or lunch there that wasnt a delight to the taste buds yet! Appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches at lunchtime, full course dinners...you will find something to make your mouth happy and to satisfy your tummy all on the same plate. They also have an extensive beer list: many available on tap, the rest by the bottle, featuring a heavy selection from England, Scotland, Ireland, the USA. There are other countries represented, so Im sure youll fine one or two to your liking. Its a small and intimate place, and it folks up quickly. Parking has always been a problem, so come early and plan to stay a while to soak up the atmosphere and watch a good rugby match while youre there. Its also a friendly place as youre quickly absorbed by the local crowd. Kick back, relax and enjoy the true pace, friendly atmosphere and awesome food of a real British Pub right here in Chester County!

We stopped going to the Whip for several months because a bridge is out that makes it inconvenient to get there. However, I felt in the need of a Shepards Pie so we made the trip. It was GREAT and we said why did we ever stop coming here? In fact, we went back 2 days later and it was GREAT again. Usually we get either the Shepards pie or the Fish and Chips. However, we decided to branch out and I got the beef wellington which is a special on the 4th weekend each month and my wife got the curry. Now, my wife is from India and a great cook who knows her food so I thought she was going out on a limb getting the curry. WOW, the curry was great! All of the flavors that should be there were there. She will get it again. The beef wellington was also great. Done just the way it should be. 2 days later we went back and got the shepards pie and fish and chips. My wife substituted a salad for the chips and got coleslaw. Both were excellent and we are not coleslaw fans! NOTE: they only serve Beer (Many choices) and soft drinks but you can take your own wine and there is a modest $2.50 corkage fee

Unfortunate first experience, never returning. We wouldnt have an experience to write about if a manager hadnt come to our table to get our drink order. We were just about to get up and leave after waiting for almost 10 minutes for someone to greet us (wouldnt have waited so long if we hadnt driven for more than 30 min to get here and werent so hungry). Immediately after the manager took our order the server came over with no greet and no recognition of our wait. We are normally patient people, but watched as 4 tables around us were greeted and got their drinks in the time we waited to be acknowledged. The star above is for the food, which was good but overpriced for the portion, and the good shape of the beer, except my husband also received the wrong sandwich and no one came to check how things were for again almost 10 minutes so he just decided to eat it. I only wish we had as good of an experience as other reviewers, as we may have frequently returned, but will not because of this first experience. Sincerely, Disappointed

As an Englishman, it was an absolute delight to find this place. Its a relatively small pub-like building in a beautiful part of the Pennsylvania countryside. Although similar to traditional English pub fare, the food at the Whip Tavern is actually of a higher standard. The staff are very friendly and attentive, and the prices are very reasonable for this standard of food. Its an extremely popular place with a little less parking than it needs, but your patience will be rewarded. - Update 2016 - Pick the Shepherds Pie, or Bangers and Mash; however, avoid the Fish and Chips because the fish batter differs considerably from the authentic British batter. Also, the Whip Tavern does not have Coke or Pepsi products, but instead has rather unpleasant substitutes. Prices have gone up quite a bit, so its a little more expensive than it used to be. One star deducted.

What can I say? Wonderful staff, beautifully remote location and huge beer selection. Place is popular at peak hours so expect a wait and parking can get insane. British fare with Americanized twist... seriously, eating a scotch egg with a knife and fork? Haha Owner KC and manager Alan along with the amazing staff have kept me entertained for years. Probably the greatest loss of me leaving the states was not being able to have a cold one here one more time. No liquor or wine sales (grandfathered in deli liquor license) but youre welcome to byob or vino and enjoy the single best hidden gem in south east PA.

Love this place. I am British born and this is the best British pub/restaurant i have been to. I have recommended it to many people who have been multiple times. I have myself been multiple times. I like that the manager lived about 8 miles from me in Sonning. Best foods...scotch egg (but hard), sticky toffee pudding...amazing, yorkshire puds..always a win! Best beers....old speckled hen!! Parking is tight here...be warned. They do have a weekend special...something different each weekend on a 5 weekend rotate. Thoroughly recommended

Waited over an hour for our dinners to be served. Food was decent but not worth the wait. Parking is a nightmare, cops were called to have cars moved that were parked across the street. Heard one of the neighbors in a house on the same block scream, curse and threaten people who turned around near his house. Overall not a pleasant experience and wouldnt go back. Friends swear by this place but its under new management so it seems like things arent quite the same.

I was introduced to The Whip several weeks ago by a business associate from the area - since then whenever I am in the area on business I make an effort to go there for lunch - the food is awesome and the Guinness is always great - the Sticky Toffee Pudding dessert is to die for - I brought some home for my wife on my last visit so she could try it - good food and friendly staff - well worth the effort

My colleague and I happened upon this place and it was if we had been magically transported to the British countryside. And the landscape of southern Pennsylvania could fool you for it, too. I was really, really charmed by this place - its location, atmosphere, delicious food, and tasty beer selection. I cant say enough good things about it and I hope sincerely that I can come back someday.

I had lunch here on a Saturday afternoon about a month ago and it was such a wonderful experience. We ate outside on the patio right near the creek and it was so peaceful. The atmosphere inside was wonderful too. The food we got was delicious and well presented. Prices were good. I cant say enough about this place. The drive out to The Whip was lovely as well. What a gem!
