Ill start with the good points. The food. The food is very good here. I ordered a kelbasa skillet, and my wife had pancakes, and they were very tasty. The place was very nice looking and is a great little spot for a mid way to the coast stop. Well, that covered all the good parts. Now the part that will make me never go back until im extremely hungry, and even then maybe not. the service. The service here was horrible. I was offered to go up the stairs into the "bar" and sit down and order with no waiting line. It was 15 minutes for a seat on the lower level. So i went up stairs, and after being ready for several minutes and litterally staring at the waitress to try to get any eye contact, I finally got my order taken. Now you would think a soda would come fairly quickly, even more so after i had already been sitting there for 10 or so minutes, but no. Soda (which was wrong when i got it), was delivered 15 minutes after I ordered. I was able to watch her clean 2 tables, enter 2 other orders, and talk to some customers before going to get my drink. So then i went to the downstairs to talk to someone about either getting someone to help up there, or to move downstairs at the next available table (seeing as i already ordered). My answer was i could either wait in line (20 minutes) or just rough it out upstairs. What kind of customer service is that? So, i got bad service, and even after telling them they just didnt care. I would not recommend this place. This was my 2nd try at the place too. The first try i got there near closing, there was a line of people, both ahead and behind me when i got there, and they said they werent taking any more customers. Not sure i know of many places that turn away customers.

Cant give a zero. The worst behaved management staff. After what seemed a pleasant but short stop at Camp 18 (despite their website stating their hours are 8a-8p daily the kitchen was closed at 7p), manager "Kay Van-something" and "Molly" followed us to Elderberry Inn where they apparently drank enough courage to verbally assault me, my 13 year old grand daughter and a friend. Apparently, per "Kay van-something" we were there for our "drug dealer" and she wanted to kick my disabled friends face in. Guess we can all figure out who is actually doing the drugs here and what happens to stupid girls when they cant get by on their looks anymore. After the "drug deal" comment I told her I was taking pictures of all their license plates and calling the cops to which she scoffed to "go ahead and call Matt". Guess what the Sherriffs first name was? Although this all happened while we were going to our car, WE were asked to leave and "Kay Van-something" and "Molly" were told to go back into the Elderberry Inn bar where they were undoubtedly treated as valued customers. Although the Elderberry restaurant waitress was a doll, I will never expose myself, my granddaughter, or any traveling companion to either Camp 18 restaurant or Elderberry restaurant. Shame on both establishments for employing or coddling people who behave so badly.

My cousin and I took our fathers (former loggers) here for Fathers Day. The experience was great up until we received our food. The restaurant is beautiful, the meusem is great, and very interesting. I suggest to stop by the museum and gift shop, but DO NOT EAT THERE. I REPEAT DO NOT EAT THERE. We tried to order breakfast but they said they stopped serving minutes ago. So we were forced to order off the overpriced lunch menu. I spent 18 dollars on 2 small clam strips. 80% of my plate was undercooked carrots. My father ordered a sandwich which looks like something I made him when I was 10. My cousins burger was overcooked and disproportionate. They claim to have logger portion sizes, however, they are gladly mistaken. Both of our fathers were still hungry after we left, it was very disappointing. We had high expectations... The reviews were promising. Also the menu is very over priced, we were happy to pay that much but once we saw the food it seemed like a rip off. The service is not good, we were disregarded in line and scoffed at for wanting to split a bill... Our waiter was decent but nothing special. Overall Im not sure how I feel- although, my clams made me feel a bit sicky. I recommend to stop by the museum and by a trinket from the gift shop, but go somewhere else for lunch.

Two stars. I was all hyped up based on the reviews for this restaurant, so I drove out the thirty minutes from Cannon Beach to experience it for myself. The host that greeted me was friendly, to be sure, asking me whether I wanted to sit by the fire or by a window. In the end, I chose a table close to the window and relatively close to the fire. Then I started taking pictures, the restaurant is absolutely BEAUTIFUL inside. One of the servers acted surprised, if not slightly miffed, that I was taking pictures of the place. Really? This is a tourist area, and no doubt much of their business comes from tourists. Note to restaurant: tourists take pictures, get used to it! My server was somewhere between friendly and rude. Just blase. While the restaurant was not at all busy, I felt that my server rushed me with my order. On to the food...it was good. But certainly not as good as it was hyped up to be. Just another average breakfast diner. Two stars. If youre passing through and need something to eat, sure, stop, the food is adequate and the building is beautiful. But not worth the drive out from the coast, in my opinion!

Context: Last thanksgiving around noon. The Good: Called, they were open. The Bad: When calling they neglected to say all they had was a buffet of traditional thanksgiving dinner food... or the outrageous price they charged per person for said buffet. The ugly: mandatory tip for our group, for a buffet. The staff got 18% for getting one person coffee, bringing waters, telling us we should leave so another group could use the table, and presumably clearing our plates. I avoided writing this review the day of. I was upset, to put it mildly. I wanted to get perspective. But, even 6 months later this whole experience bothers me. The setting is gorgeous. Normal menu probably isnt unreasonably priced. Service might not be too bad, if they had something to do. We drove from Portland to the coast and it just was a dark cloud the whole day. A restaurant experience should never ruin a vacation, no matter how small the vacation is. I hope someone in the future who thinks about eating here on a holiday sees this, and makes sure to get more details while on the phone than just if they are open.

My wife and I were a little reluctant to try Camp 18 because some of the reviews were pretty negative. However, many of them were very good. So, on our way to Cannon Beach on a Sunday afternoon we stopped in. The place was fairly busy but not maxed out. We only had to wait a few minutes to be seated. I was a little apprehensive when asked if we wanted to sit upstairs because a couple of reviews said the service up there was slow. We did not have that experience. The waitress was not just quick and attentive, she was pretty amazing. The only time she didnt run up and down the stairs was when she was carrying food. BTW, the coffee was great. We split a corned beef sandwich with fries and were pretty full when we got done. And, the sandwich tasted great. We noticed a guy nearby who ordered a cobbler and couldnt come close to finishing it all. He plans to come back with a bigger appetite. We dont get the chance to head to the coast that often but next time we do, well be returning to Camp 18.
