The first time I went here I wanted a turkey sandwich. I stepped up, and asked for exactly that. They told me they do not sell sandwiches. Confused I looked into their display and pointed to what looked like a turkey sandwich. They told me it was a Panni, not a sandwich. Seriously? Second time I went there it was with my boss and a few co-workers. We tried asking the lady behind the counter what was in certain pastries. She had no idea. We ended up getting almond Croissants because at least we know what those are. They were yummy though. Today I decided to give it a third chance. I ordered a bowl of soup to go. First of all, a simple bowl of soup is $5.50. So it better be the best soup in the entire planet. I then arrive back at the office and open it up. The "bowl" is hardly halfway full! I asked my coworker if that was normal and she said no it should be full. I mean, it was MAYBE 8oz of soup, for $5.50!?!?! Are they kidding? So she returned it when she went to get her lunch and they did give us a free pastry to make up for mistake. So at least there is that. But what made it even crazier, is when my co-worker got back, her "sandwich" was not what she ordered. But she was not about to go back again. Over all, they are mean, rude, unknowledgeable and overpriced. On the upside, almost all of what they serve tastes good. So if you dont mind not getting what you ordered or being treated like dirt, then try the Strawberry Mille Feuilles.

Visiting Portland we happened upon this delightful French bakery yesterday. We both had croissant sandwiches that were excellent. The croissant was perfectly baked and the sandwich ingredients were fresh. My wife had a chocolate eclair that was fantastic. It was a very generous size, too. A bonus for me because she could eat it all. We returned today and each ordered a different sandwich total $17.90 (we had water). Then we both had desserts. She the lemon tart I the caffe eclair. Both were superb and generous in size. Our two visits consumed a total of about 1.5 hours. Neither visit was during lunch or dinner hours and only one period of about 6 minutes there was no line. This place is popular! It is not fast food but the wait is not too long. The cashiers are very patient and helpful.

French-style breads & pastries are very good. A number of the selections have no real American equivalent. Sandwiches are less notable. I like the tart au citron. The crust is too hard to cut with a fork, but it responds quite well to human teeth. Dont try to be polite, just pick it up like a boss and bite in. The prep area is open, so you can watch the bakers as they work. A large-screen TV shows the Tour de France when its in progress. The single-user restrooms need a button entry code that the register staff will supply upon request. If you live in the neighborhood, this is a great, family-friendly place (if a little spendy.) Otherwise, be warned that parking in the area is *extremely* limited.

St. Honore and I used to be neighbors. It was a beautiful relationship. Id smell the bakery baking goodies at 6 or 7am and itd lure me over on several occasions and Id treat myself to a croissant and coffee-- or sometimes my other favorite, the canale. The coffee is standard and the service is pretty average. And when in a pinch I can always trust that therell be baguettes there in the evening when a dinner calls for it. Ive also placed special orders for tarts and cakes for the holidays here and they are punctual and precise. Always a crowd-pleaser. Id also like to stress the fact that their hours are great. And theyre usually open on a holiday when the rest of the street is quiet.

Five stars -- and no hesitation. I do not understand the complaints by other reviewers. The baked goods are great -- more refined/ French/ Parisian than at Kens Artisian Bakery. But this bakery is a great complement to Kens. I love the ability to sit outside -- the street is fairly quiet compared to Kens. At times the cafe can be very crowded -- but its opening hours are longer than Kens and especially in the early evening it is very quiet. During the Tour de France, the cafe opens early for fans to follow the race jointly on a screen -- very nice crowd. Try the Croque Monsieur. As my friend Jan used to say "The best Croissant West of Avignon"!

The Kouign-amann is over the top good . croissant type layered butter and dough , but with more butter . And layers of sugar that carmalize when baked ... and a little rock salt on the outside , to pique the palette . sweet ,salty , crunchy-chewy ,and enough butter to feel a trickle down the back of your throat . Take small bites and enjoy . The staff is pure portlandia the breads pure french . That they use dough layering techniques to add crunch and style to even some of their simpler breads speaks volumes about the owners french training

One of my favourite French Bakeries on the West Coast...hands down. Thank you, St. Honore, for not dumbing down the names of pastries. A fricking Chausson aux Pommes ($4) is just that, not an apple turnover. Thank you for all the delicious lunches my family has had here...reasonably priced. Weve had more picnics with goodies from St. Honore than I care to admit. Actually...I dont care if I have to say Im chubby because I eat well at St. Honore...Ive enjoyed myself and theres no crime in good eating!!

They have lots of unique pasteries and all of the things we ordered were amazing. They make it in front of you; you can watch them if you want. The pasteries were really amazing. The atmosphere is adorable French style. You can sit at a long family-style table with other people or at an individual table. They also had a huge window that was open that you could walk through; nice breeze. ALSO, this location is right next to Forest Park and is an awesome way to start your hiking day.

I brought my girlfriend here, who lived in Paris for a year, and she said it was the most legit boulangerie she has been too in the states. The atmosphere was amazing. The coffee was amazing and the pastries were SO good. I highly recommend trying the pain au chocolates and their tarte au citron. Also, they get quite busy on the weekends so if youre wanting to go for breakfast Id suggest that you try and get their early or you wont have any where to sit.

French bakery in the Nob Hill neighborhood, which seems to be kind of in the poshy side. We stopped there for a croissant on a Sunday afternoon, and in spite of the rain the outdoor seating was full of people (some with dogs). Inside was pretty packed, too, so I guess they are very popular. What I ate was good, but having had pastries in France I wouldnt put it on the top of my list. But still much better than other similar French bakeries in town.

I had been their customer for at least 10 years for outstanding bread and pastries. Customer service were great too. Over the years everything seems going down the hill: pastries and loaf of bread became significantly smaller, prices skyrocketed, new payment system pushing customers to add tips, and salespeople handled produce by bare hands. Very expensive pastries sometimes appeared burned. Not going back any time soon!
